just here to comment that almost any shallow mount 8" sub can be fitted into the stock JBL sub box.. mine took a little cursing and a few minor mods, but now i have a skar 8" sub in the box, with some material to knock the internal volume down to .4 cu feet. also, i removed all of the factory comps, and replaced with speaker adapters, 2 amps, and all 4 doors have 6.5" and a 10" android screen.. did it all for under a $1200 i wasnt going to be satisfied relying on the factory amp and just upgrading the speakers
Nice upgrade mod, first time I see a speaker install on UA-cam. I have the same cement TRD Sport 4x4 but in a 2019. Also running LT275 70r17 load range E psi 40 lbs but in BF Goodrich tires KO2'S. Do you have the JBL system in your truck as well?
My first upgrade is always amp & sub. Even cheap stock speakers sound better with more power, and may not need to be upgraded. Let your ears be the judge after an amp is added and go from there. Otherwise new speakers with no boost in amplification may sound clearer, but will have no punch and you will be disappointed...been there, not fun.
I ran into a small issue. Ordered everything to do install myself. Everything was easy until I got to back speakers. The speaker adapters for back speakers on a 2020 Tacoma are way different then what I see in every Tacoma speaker upgrade I’ve seen on UA-cam. Please help.
I've seen the sound deadening material on a few of these videos, so it must work if a bunch of people are doing it. But how well does it work? Huge noticeable difference?
It does work knocks down about 4 -5 DB less depending on how much you put on. I did it to my Nissan Frontier doors and it made a difference not a whole lot but if I put it under the carpet, under the headliner that would make even more of a difference.
it's not so much to keep Outside noise out, but to keep inside sound from being muddy, tinny, or rattling. on top of sound deadener, use speaker rings on your mids! you can make them with 1/4 closed cell foam and some good tape.
@@oogmusic1643 nice!!! Can't wait to install them, I just got my deadener delivered today, question tho, did you not want to deadend the back doors and the inner doors on all four doors, or is that overkill in your opinion?
I did instal kilmat deadener on the back doors and front doors. I did notice a difference in audio and noise intruding inside the cab. The doors also feel more solid when I close them. In the future I will be doing the back of the cab. I say it’s worth it.
You gave me confidence to do it myself, these shops go ham on installation prices.
Great video. Very instructional and specific. Huge help changing my speakers. Thanks OOG!
Good video. Very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to share.
Wow. Thanks so much. I am about to buy my Tacoma and this is exactly what I need to upgrade my sound system.
when pulling back plastic use a razor blade to cut away on the black seal as you pull it off makes a clean removal with no mess ans easy to reinstall
Didn’t complete front door reassembly…how did you reattach plastic liner? Did you add adhesives?
Excellent installation vid brother
I noticed you didn’t change the tweeters in the dashboard. I think it’s worth the upgrade to do as well.
Great video!! Did you ever end up installing and amplifier?

I have the non jbl version. The setup was not complicated to do!
like hear u slam da sounds
Nice video ! Do the speakers sound good without upgrading the radio? Or do you need to upgrade the radio also ? Thanks
In my opinion it sounds great. If you want louder then I recommend aftermarket amp and head unit.
You can tell by his answer it’s a no

Did you had use amp to get bass?

@@Mason-fv1zl Cool, thanks for the tips! I've been waiting for better weather and it's finally here. I'm going to try it out!

I buy a skar audio system but I haven’t put it on my Tacoma cuz I need the universal brackets. There’s is a website that you recommend to get them?
I would recommend crutchfield.com
Their customer service center is real good.
Good Video
Would this whole thing will fix on a 2022 toyota tacoma sr
Is that the factory speakers ?
Or the premium upgrade speakers from add ons from Toyota
I have the non jbl speakers. My truck came with the standard speakers.
Every time I’ve changed the factory speakers they never sound right without adding amplifiers and a DSP.
U think its the same for my tacoma 22?
Same size but I don’t know about the plug and play harness it might be different but the speaker size are the same
No necesitan amp?
Link for upgrade speakers work for jbl sistem
What year is your truck?
2018
stock amp?
I have my speakers hooked up to the stock head unit.
I'm doing the same thing to my '12 this weekend , the kicker speakers and sound deadener, how do you like it still?
I'm loving it. The kicker speakers sound way more clear and have no distortion.
