I can't believe it!!!!!!! I know Nothing about electronics!!! I was so stressed out, having to go by another tablet. I decided to you tube the issue quick and your video came up. it took me 4 replays and alot of pausing to watch exactly what you were doing!!! I got the back off, followed your instructions! and the touch screen is. ow working beautifully!!!!
thank you!!!
N7 screen worked intermittently. Finally I did the "drop it on the floor" trick and it worked, so I yanked the back off and I'm pretty sure the ribbon cable connecter was not in all the way. We'll see, but I'm confident that it worked for me. Thanks a lot !
Hey! Brilliant! I had a cracked screen and I replaced the screen and the digitizer... when I reassembled them i was having tons of trouble using the touch screen - it was horrible... But I did what you said and simply reseated the digitizer cables carefully and voila!!! It works perfectly again! Thanks so much...
I had eratic responce from keyboard when typing, I pulled out flat cable and put it back and this fixed the problem. Thank You.
Thanks, I tried the 1st method on my Venturer to restore touch screen and it worked like a charm. Thanks. Simple things seem to work a lot of the time.
Thanks man! Software reset worked like a charm. Just a minute ago I was applying 5 lbs of pressure to my fingertips, but now its just as sensitive as it was out of the box.
dude, my nexus 7 2013 was acting up and it would not respond to my touch. the reset to care of the rest. thanks. everything else was good to know. definitely subscribing.
My screen frustratingly doesn't recognize when I use a single finger for touch almost all of the time. If I use two fingers, however, it always works. I can literally sit there and press an icon/ink/app/whatever with my index finger over and over and nothing will register. Thanks for providing the ASUS warranty info!
thank you you save me. was out of options. screen touch didn't work and couldn't turn off to reset it. now its working again thanks to you.
Great way to make little jagged marks - using a narrow metal screwdriver to pop the lid. It's also easy to crack the flat cable holders if using just the edge of a screwdriver. Use plastic tools.
The software reset actually helped a little, I swapped the entire screen and digitizer in this one (wishing I had gotten one with the frame as well). So it's hopefully just a poor connection. I'll try a cleanup and reattachment later.
Thanks for the tips.
I replaced a cracked digitizer/touch screen. I had bought a LCD and digitizer already assembled as seeing others that only bought digitizer was way to much work. After install at 3am I put on charge and did not test. This morning bottom corners of digitizer would not work and touch was jittery. Looked at this very helpful video. Pulled back off of tablet. The line on the left side ribbon cable was slightly off compared to connector. I unplugged both ribbon cables, meaning the ones with the clips you have to lift up. Removed ribbons cables from connectors. I noticed ribbon cable does not match straight up with connectors. They are actually slightly to the right. I inserted both ribbon cables into their respective connectors. Then by pushing on the bulk of the ribbon cable that is on the out side edge of the tablet board I aligned the left side ribbon cable line with the connector and pushed down connector clip to hold in place. The right side was pretty much aligned so I closed connector clip. Put back together. WORKS PERFECT. Thanks for the video.
Thanks, here it is Oct of 2022 and this info is still sooooooooooooo apreciated
THANK You!!! So glad to see there is information for such an "ancient" device.
Was starting to panic because all the others said to turn it off first. How do I turn it off when the touch screen isn't working??
Did the soft reset, twice, and it is back!
THANK YOU again!!!
right first i had several problems like you mentioned during the video and so i thought id have to spend a load of money to repair my screen, i was on UA-cam and decided to see if anyone else had this problem and found your video...any way long story short this video has fixed my tablet! thanks!
Sorted. Turned out to be a loose connection from the battery which is unrelated, but the video showed vlearly what wires were what. If you have 'static' lines on a black screen the battery cables might just need a push back in. So easy to do, and I can stop feeling guilty about dropping my nieces tablet!
I seem to have solved my slow response screen by getting rid of a website in my frequently visited display in Chrome. I'm figuring they were fat and sucking resources. I dumped them and my touch screen is snappy again. It was real sluggish before. I was a little afraid to try your fix but will have the tech at the store do it. I'm sure its worth it as you say. Thanks.
I don't have a nexus but I used it on my nuvision and the first method worked I'm so happy thank you
thank you soo much for posting this. my touch screen just stopped working. the first trick worked for me.
randomly my nexus 7(2nd gen) wouldnt respond to my touch so i used ur first method and it worked, thanks.
Just did the same thing!! Works 100 times better!!!
Thanks soooo much. The first option worked .I didn't know that holding the power button long enough will switch the device off. Thanks again.
Thanks a lot, my nexus was dropped and half of the screen didn't work. I tried to fix the touchscreen connection. It is working.
cool, good job!
What did you do,
resetting the cables worked...i also replaced the screen and digitizer but re-securing the cables finished the job,
Thank You. My Nexus 7 fell and the screen broke, after replacing screen it wouldn't respond to touch. I opened it up reset the touch screen connections as per above video and it fixed the problem.
I was having the same issues, then did your method 1 and now my tablet is amazing!! Thanks for the tip!
Thank you so much! My screen was completely unresponsive so I couldn't even touch to power down. I didn't know I could hold down the power button for 10 seconds to reset. That did the trick. :-)
thanks i try it and it work, of course mine had the black tape covering it, at first i thought it was important until i saw other video where they remove it. i just push the gold piece of plastic inward and didn't touch the display connector but it work so thank you!!!
thanks my new tablet was glitch screen blur/color line on the top pat of the screen i just did the rest and its gone problem solved great vid bro.
Thank you! It worked for me! I opened the back as you showed and fiddle those flatwires and reinserting them. Funny because I did that when I replaced the screen and digitiser. Hope it will last ;-)
Hi there, thank you very much for this video. I gave my device a pretty severe bump I guess last night and was contemplating dumping it or an expensive repair. Watched your tutorial , opened it up which was a little tricky and then checked connections and got a very present surprise when I put it back together. Great stuff and best of luck to you.
Thank you, very much. The software reset worked for my Nexus 7 2013.
Thanks I did the soft reset on my Nexus 7 2013 and it fixed the touch screen. Thanks a lot.
dude. that actually worked. i played with wires a little bit. and tada! it wiorked. thanks a lot!!!!
Thanks for this. I just replaced my screen and digitizer yet my touch screen didn't work. I forgot to flip the clips for the touch screen connection. I was starting to fear I had just thrown away a good sum of money on parts when I should have purchased a new tablet.
Worked for my nexus 7 (older model). Thank you!
tnx a million mate... dropped mine and sure enough touchscreen probs. you saved me a lot of moolah($$)...and headaches... tnx again..

Good job, get thick rubber cases for their tabs, just in case.

Thank you sooo much!!! You saved me a Nexus 7!
Thanks so much - the software reset has helped with touch and speed.
Thanks for your help, I just purchase my Asus Zenpad 7 yesterday and today it wouldn't allow me to power it down or restart, so I did exactly what you state in your video by holding down the power button and what do you know it started to allow me to power it down and restart the Zenpad 7...once again thank you sooooooooo much.
I want to thank you for this tutorial, you were very clear through each & every step and made this repair quick, easy & painless.
Do you have the same instructions for the 2013 version of the Nexus 7? I took the back cover off and it is definitely not the design seen in the video. I had the misfortune of dripping a small amount of water overnight on my Nexus 7 and the touch screen does not function at all. Thanks so much for all you do!
Michael Edgerley try getting a micro usb to usb cable and plugging a usb mouse into it
The tape on top of the cable slightly came off but I put it back in place this is located right where the touch screen is not working..the connection right before the charging port which already went out. Thanks
Hard reset works. Thanks!!!
Thank You very Much......My Table works now
thank you so much bro you helped me alot 😀😀 I got worried that I wasn't gonna be able to use my tablet

thx for this description.
Excellent worked a treat thanks
What gen is your N7? I ask because as you went to open it up, I was all excited, "OMG, I'm gonna do this!" Then, went to open it up, and the sides curve in a way that does not allow a tool to get in there. I bought mine in Nov 2013 from Amazon, if that helps. Have any suggestions on how to open my gen N7? Thnks!
I have a visual land 7qs presteige tablet. will this also work on this? My screen does not allow touch on a specific side of the screen. ASV along w back button atop will not touch, everything else works fine.
can u make a video for me how to fix iconia B1-A71 touch screen.please ?
i really need this video
when opening the back there was no cable for screen or the white line u mentioned, it had something over it. what do i do to fix my tablet then?
My Nexus 7 looks a bit different from yours. I see that yours doesn't have black stickers covering the area where you're using the flat-head to adjust the latches for the touch screen. Would it be a good idea for me to remove these black stickers on mine?
Thanks a lot, your video helped a lot to fix both my tablets. Awesome job
I am trying the second method but when I take the back cover off there is what looks like electrical tape covering the parts you are talking about. Is there anything I can do about that?
The I tried the first method and it worked thanks
my nexus was having these issues ever since i first bought it. at the store they had a big box full of piled up nexus 7's. maybe thats when the connections came loose (or during shipping)? cuz i dont want to open my tablet finding out there's nothing bad :P
Hi, this fix is great! Can it solve the multi touch cross axis problem? ( Nexus 7 (2012) Multitouch Issue ) Thanks
not sure cause some problems is loose ribbon connection and some problems is software glitch so holding power for 30 seconds might work to reset nexus7
thank you so much!!! the 2nd method works..
Nice, good know it can be repaired by a simple tweak, thanks
Thx now is it just the digitizer I need? I heard they can be hard to replace or it comes with the LCD. Lost on this one

Thank you thank you thank you. Phew the touch wouldn't respond and now it will! TURN UP
Now is working , thank you for the video 🤩
I got same problem and fixed similarly. It does come back, though. :( However, I noticed you got completely different Nexus 7 casing than mine(Nexus 7 2013 model). Mine is cracking at the edges. I see yours have metallic edge. Did you buy/install that separately? Where could I get that? Thanks in advance.
it worked!!!! you're a savior. Thanks a lot!
Having a problem I cant seem to find ANY info on. Have an Asus Nexus 7 1B16 presumably the 2012 version. Touch screen a little laggy, and a bit less sensitive around the outer areas of the screen. Aside from that working just fine. Went to use the other night, and all the screen shows is a bunch of vertical stripes, some broad some not. Nothing can be seen except these mostly black/grey/white lines stripes. Seems to often show a wide black strip down the center, then smaller lines on either side. Also a thin white horizontal line near the bottom on occasion. Never been dropped, never had water damage. It wont shut off either. I checked the battery cable, and video cable..but no change. Any ideas? I'm thinking its prob the lcd display, just not sure why it would suddenly fail like this.
Thank you!!!
I just opened my nexus 7 and it looks absolutely NOTHING like this inside- can't figure out what to do.
wow thx this worked for my android tablet
hi i have a joy tab witch is doing the same can i clip the back of the same only it has a camara at the back and dont wont to pull any wires of thankyou
your video was the only help thanx!!!!
On my nexus 7, there is black "warranty tape" covering the touchscreen inputs. If I remove that to perform the fix you described, won't my warranty be void?
didnt work :( the bottom inch of my screen is not working at all, when you touch it it does nothing
Same here
I applied the first method and the problem is fixed for sometime. But it starts random touches after using the tab for couple of hours. Should I follow second method?
Great job Boss. Thnx
thank you so much you are a life savor
thank you so much i love your channel
Thank you so much now it works i hope you make more video Follow him
can you repair a broken screen without replacing it? I already tried and checked every thing on this video it didnt work. still great job
Leo F try getting a micro usb to usb cable and plugging a usb mouse into it
I'm going to try this. My only other problem is that when i do a factory reset I get the "No command" message. The screen is totally frozen but rotates.
