- How to fix unresponsive tablet touch screen not working. Easy DIY Fix.

Fixing the tablet capacitive touchscreen after being non-responsive due to extra charge is easily done by touching the touch screen connectors with your hand to relieve the extra electric charge. ASUS Vivo Tab fixed after being unresponsive to touch for 7 months. The fix could be applied to almost any other tablet. Credit for Lenovo forums which mentioned the solution in a few posts. Note: this process might void your warranty, damage the device and/or hurt yourself.
This does not work for each situation, as some components might have already been damaged. So the same results cannot be replicated for each device. Professional help might be needed to open some devices, replace components and restore/improve function.

this fixed my 10.1 asus, i did not remove te ribbons to discharge,
1.i simply unplugged the battery
2.holding a metal flat blade i touched across all the contact points behind the header sockets of each ribbon.
3.then left the unit alone for a further 10mins with the battery unplugged.
4.re assembled the unit.....TOUCHSCREEN PERFECT

You are amazing! Have a Asus K010 for 2 years then suddenly it started to stop responding .The inside is a bit different, but the latches were the same and unplugging and touching the connectors solved my problem. So happy I saved my tablet.

Thank you for this video. My mother, who is not very tech-savvy, has this ASUS tablet and has struggled with the screen problem since she bought it. I think it will put her mind at rest that it is a common problem rather than something she is doing wrong. Shame on ASUS for not offering a free fix. They have gone down in my estimation.

This worked without having to even having to remove the ribbon cables. I just ran my fingers over the exposed connectors to discharge them. Thanks!

Hi, after fixing my tablet, i am again having the same problem after a few hours. There was no rubber tape on the connectors. Do you think that i should add one?
It is a good idea, just make sure it is thin enough to avoid interfering with other parts or the assembly. Also keep in mind, sometimes it is an issue with charging isolation.
Basically during charging additional charges are captured in capacitive display processing components and render it unresponsive.
yeah i have a amazon kindle fire hd 7 inch 3rd generation, me and my brother replaced the battery yesterday and it works good the volume and power button are working fine and it is turning on and charging but the touch screen is not working at all, i have had this thing for a few years i dont want to lose it, it has a lot of important info and files on it. what do i do?

my sister has an acer iconia 10 and tried this at home but it didn't seem to work, it's stuck on the home screen and won't respond. do you have any suggestion on how to fix it. we literally just got it 2 weeks ago and she accidentally stepped on it. the screen cracked and the screen won't respond.

The rule of thumb is to search for touch display connector.

My Lenovo tab 2 a10-70 L wasn't responding at every side. I had to keep turning it to type some letters. I could barely play games with it, and although some parts of the screen is cracked, the side that is not cracked is the part that is not working. My dad said he would get a technician to fix my screen but I am not sure it would work if it doesn't work on some sides. So I tried fixing it. But it didn't have the same parts as the tablet you used, so I am just lost, and what should I do
my nextbook ares has a response deterioration. The middle started to not be responsive to touch and it spread until only an inch on each side reacts. it slowly gets smaller. Please help. My parents didnt get a warrantee and they refuse to buy me a new one.

bro, my lenovo tab can recognise touches only in some areas. i did a factory reset but that was the worst part. it was difficult to login to gmail as keyboard was not working properly.now what should i do?

It worked for me after that, but I suspect you might have to do it again if the charge builds up.
worked like a charm!!! my tablet had been out of commission for over a year because i just figured it was done after i couldn't get it to respond. took me no longer than 10 minutes to pop the back cover off, disconnect those two connectors, discharge them, reconnect and BAM!!! i was back in business! although i did crack the corner of my screen removing the back cover but its a small price to pay than me just going out and buying a brand new tablet. thank you!!!!

Thx for this presentation & seems ASUS had similar issues encompassing all their tablets, but design obstacles encountered by all mfrs. Respect your DIY attitude & effort, especially involving your baby 👶in the work. So far as tools & procedure, could employ cleaner & ESD methods, beside use a sturdy piece of wood or plastic as a spudger, guitar pick, toothpick, even shape or make your own. That electrostatic issue may have engineering challenges not addressed by the mfr even from normal use, but such issues could get introduced when using different charging & cables than OEM, opening the device without precautions, touch & move components, installation issues, so either the connection contact or insulation lost integrity, ... not only the insulation & shielding but conduction as important when changes as seemingly insignificant when a fingerprint oil or dust provides path where there wasn't prior. Those mylar tape & else likely has some technical specification & purpose. Seems you're addressing those ribbon cable & connector issues, beside regard those small contact points & shields, especially during reassembly. When data & charges had encountered either nearly infinite resistance or optimum continuity, but now has about a megaohm or some seemingly insignificant change happen, then you could figure results although among many scenarios that can present degradation, loss of capability & feature, or complete malfunction with these devices. Those are decent devices try keep working & using, but difficult especially when get 20 years & may not get compatible or supported except archive & else. I've still got a ME173X model that I use & maintain, beside for learning about Android & technology, so far as what's current at the time, which means that its also had problems which I've fixed. An ethical anomaly despite throwaway culture & burdens that has imposed upon environment & society. Take care.

Holy Crow...After going through literally 25 or more videos, I see why my touch screen was unresponsive after getting my charger port board repaired from eBay. This is the only video that showed the little lock that must be flipped up to successfully slide the connector in all the way. It happens around 5:42. Thank you for a thorough vid. All those hours wasted. UGH

only the top right of my Asus memo tablet isn't responsive to touch (Horizontal). And that top right corner is very important since many useful buttons are on there. So if it's not the whole screen not working, will this still work?
Looks like you might have a broken screen, but there is still possibility that it is only overcharges if there is no visible cracks.

+Tech FIX nevermind, when I took out my tablet cover, everything works just fine. Maybe the electric charges escaped. But I'm really thankful for this video. if I have any similar problem next time I will use this method.
That's great news and it means it is just extra charges on the screen ribbon cable or the touch screen ribbon cable might not be well connected.
some reason when I accidentally drool onto my tablet the screen touch spazzes out and then I have to restart it. Is it the same with every tab? my tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4

Unfortunately, most likely you will have to change the screen to fix that.
I have the exact same tablet and it doesn't work. I'm gonna buy an OGT cable to use a mouse so I can unlock the tablet and copy all the files. Then, I will see if it's worth repairing.

This is calibration issue that is probably caused by incompatible drivers. It might help to use the original OS.

actually if you only have overcharges you do not need to replace the screen.
***** screen was cracked and tocuh digitizer stopped working opened it up i think wrong way and cracked to pieces the glass part cleaned it all out now no glass left and can see screen has scratch in it aswell and this was tablet i got and gave to my cousin and it fell at hospital and broke now got it back and got them another one and gonna repair this one but now i got the part and it all a mess idk what to do now

I left my asus transformer pad for dead, for a year or so, when I saw this video I wanted to try fixing it. Battery needed charging. . When I turned tablet on, it worked perfectly... so I didn't try this after all. Maybe leaving your device very long time to discharge on it's self completly, is one more way of fixing it!?

basically find the cables connecting the LCD (ribbon cables) and disconnect and touch them to discharge extra charges, but be careful as these connections are very fragile

reasons why your screen might not be working.
