You're not crazy. 😉 Even those of us who have been fans for decades (and know exactly how talented The Boys are) still have those 'Holy 💩 they're amazing! ' moments.
That was a spectacular reaction! You guys made me feel like it was 1981 all over again, when saw the Moving Pictures tour at Cobo Arena in Detroit. You became my favorite reactors today! Thanks,, you put a huge smile on my face!
This was Rush's first time playing here and there were so many fans who finally, after 30 years, finally got the chance to see them live. Get the Rush in Rio dvd/Blu-ray asap. My all-time fav band shows why they are simply the best.
Nice job on the reaction. I have been graced to see this band live twice. Signals and Snakes and Ladders tours. Jaw was on the floor both times. They were absolutely amazing. I am 58 years old and have been on the Rush bus since I was 12. Love them so much and what an influence on my life. They will never be duplicated.
Some music is emotional and some is exercise for your ears. That’s Rush. My favorite band ever especially because I’m a drummer. You are extremely lucky young man. Dominica is incredibly beautiful!!!!!!
Watching the enthusiasm and size of the crowd makes me so proud of these hometown (Toronto) guys, plus it brings me back to 1974 when I first saw Rush playing in a half-filled tavern. Thank you again for reacting to this amazing band and greetings from Canada!
This was 3 absolute virtuoso's, all in the same band. And one of them just happen to be, arguably, the greatest rock drummer/percussionist the world has ever seen. Add to that the Neil was a genius poet, and you have RUSH. Oh, and wait until you listen to "La Villa Strangiato".....wow!
As someone who has seen Rush 5 times thru the 1970s,80s and1990s, it is great to see new fans get so excited! I love your channel. You two are so cute. You make this 61 year old, who loves all the older music, appriciate new stuff all with a smile on. Nice job. Keep up the good work. Happy Mothers Day to Dominica!

@@darrenwiggins9957 60 was in São Paulo (that was as good as the Rio), there's biggest single Rush audience. I have luck to see both. And again when they came back some years later.
Yeah, exactly. The fans are very enthusiastic in those countries. They sing the mellody like a one man. So in unison. It´s a progressive rock instrumental and they sing along like it was a big radio hit. But Rush can groove. It grooves like crazy and the mellody is catchy. And not every progressive band grooves so much.
Thank so much for doing this and as a life long Rush fanatic, welcome to the most passionate of fan bases. I loved the reaction...makes me so happy to see someone who "gets" Rush! Sadly, we'll never get them play again but they've left so much for us to enjoy. RIP Professor, you are greatly missed 🥁
Love to see you guys exploring Rush, they are focking brilliant good! You will find it out. My brother played Moving Pictures in his room Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta and YYZ…boom was directly a fan passing by his door, like you do now as well!
'This woman is a little bit CRAZY', yeah dam right there, just like the rest of us fans. She hit the nail on the head with that statement. More 'LIVE RUSH' please, three cheers to you two thanks
It's a band that does an incredible job producing music like this with just 3 members. Glad to see that you are doing more Rush. There are lots of great songs left - La Villa Strangiato(epic 9:36 min song ), 2112 (another epic song), A Passage To Bangkok, A Farewell to Kings, Closer To The Heart, The Trees, Limelight, The Spirit of Radio, Freewill, Jacob's Ladder, Red Barchetta, Vital Signs, Working Man, Red Sector A. to start out with.
A pure delight to watch you enjoy this awesome GOAT band. I loved going to their concerts and yes, you got the RUSH now! Thanks for this reaction! Keep "Rushing"!
When hearing Rush for the first time as a teenager back in the 70's (2112 album) was musically life changing for me. For a band of 3 gifted members to put together all this sound is just mind blowing. Your wifes reaction reminded me of my first time, I absoulutely loved your reaction, keep up the great reactions.
It’s always so good to see someone falling in love with a band that you have loved for years yourself. There’s always room for more on the RUSH bandwagon.
this song was my benchmark as a drummer, as soon i could play whole song in one go without missing a single note, i called myself a drummer. But all 3 of these guys are at the top of their instruments.
As Rush newbies, you have to check out Xanadu (live from Exit Stage Left 1981), Red Barchetta, La Villa Strangiato, 2112, and there are tons more. They have a huge catalog. Cheers from Canada, eh.
Crazy my Lady?! NO. You are just showing and feeling the emotion that music brings...more to the point RUSH. What you are showing is what I felt buying my first RUSH album in 1977. I had never heard of them at the time, but saw the album cover of their live album, "All The World's A Stage." I had just started playing drums and had never seen a drum set like Neil Pearts. I had to hear what he sounded like...changed my life.
Absolutely LOVED your enthusiasm. Rush, like Pink Floyd, is an experience (though both are quite different). Please check out Xanadu Live from the Exit, Stage Left concert. I think you'll be amazed that so much music can come from 3 people.
Rest in peice Neil. I absoutley love these guys. Most under rated band in history. Getty is possibly the greatest bass player ever and Alex is in line with Stevie Ray Vaughn but in another genre
YYZ is the indicator code for the Toronto International Airport. Alex Lifeson the guitarist is also a licensed pilot and was flying them back to Toronto when Geddy and Neil heard it and it stuck with them. They were always h.appy to see YYZ on their luggage as it meant they were heading home to their families. You two are adorable together ! ❤❤ Other Songs The Trees from Exit Stage Left Digital Man from the Snakes and Arrows tour Natural Science from the Molson Amphitheatre Toronto Analogue Kid from the Time Machine Tour Cheers 🇨🇦
That was a wonderful reaction and so deserved because it was a remarkable performance by 3 down to earth, humble and incredibly talented virtuosos. Rush is just one of those bands that elicit superlatives and they make such complexity look so damn easy. Cheers from Ontario, Canada!
The Morse Code was at the very beginning: first, it was Neil tapping it very faintly on a cymbal or other metallic percussion piece. Then, when Geddy and Alex come in hard, they are playing the same riff over and over, which is "YYZ" as it is heard from the Pearson International Airport (Toronto) radio beacon. The three band members are from the Toronto area and that sound over the cockpit radio meant they were headed home to see their loved ones. The 3-letter code for that airport is YYZ, which is what they put on your luggage if you're flying there. The music is meant to express the feelings you get when you are at an airport: the frantic hustle and bustle, the Middle Eastern sounding guitar solo representing the exotic destinations, then the melancholy synthesizer section which represents both the sadness of travelers leaving their loved ones behind but also the warm, loving feeling of greeting loved ones as they exit the plane. Once you know what it's about, you can almost see the scenes in your mind as you listen to the music.
Some say that music can bring out emotions so real as to bring about feelings never felt before. If you want to experience this you must listen to Limelight. The guitar solo is the epitome of life on the road, missing family and friends. And as a side note, this sing changes time signature at least 12 times. Check it out.
Not crazy!! “I’m just so happy!!” Rush has been doing that to me for more than 40 years. The world could use more art like the music of Rush! More happy people = better world for all of us. Rush = Happiness!
Ssshhh, Bob is with me today. Here we are in the Rio wilderness tracking a YYZ. The rumors are a Rush fan birth is imminent. Listen, listen do you hear it? I hear a Les Paul and... and Toms oh and the Fender. It's over here through the trees. SHH damnit Bob be quiet. Look look over there a YYZ. Don't scare it. Oh my goodness it's true. A Rush fan is being born. What a rare site to witness. (Tears of happiness) it's beautiful Bob. It's so beautiful. Bob look look look look it already has a Moving Pictures.
This song opens up with specific light bell chimes which is a replication by drummer Neil Pert of the airport code for Toronto Canada, which is YYZ. If you play it back you'll hear it.
Not long after WWII, there were so many airports around the world that it was decided that a three-letter code would be adopted and assigned for each airport around the world. For some bizarre reason, the Canadians decided not to fight for three letter codes to match the names of their major airports (e.g. TOR for Toronto, MON for Montreal, or VAN for Vancouver). Instead, they decided to take all of the "Y" codes. Thus, Toronto's main airport became "YYZ," Montreal's became "YUL", and Vancouver became "YVR." One day, after they had finished recording in a rural studio near Montreal, the boys from Rush flew back to Toronto. At the time, the guitarist, Alex, was learning how to pilot small aircraft. Thus, they found themselves approaching Toronto's airport when they heard the morse code for YYZ. It sounded cool to them, so they decided to base a song on it. At the very beginning of the song, you hear Neil hitting a triangle. What he's doing is tapping out YYZ! With the rest of the song, the band was trying to give us a musical feel for what it feels like to be at/in a busy international airport (specifically: Toronto's Pearson International Airport, code named YYZ).
The Spirit Of Radio is IMO another highlight from this show; If you'd like to hear some more instrumental highlights from this show, I recommend La Villa Strangiato, and Leave That Thing Alone/O Baterista Drum Solo. Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦 🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥
Great reaction, as usual. As you mentioned, it is the band that made the audience react that way....these guys are special rockers. The more you learn about these Canadians, the more you will like. I've missed a lot of artists I wish I would have seen, but Rush isn't one of them. I saw them 3 times and it was just a great show that filled me up, every time.
The Morse code is only in the 1st few seconds of the song. Neil plays YYZ on the high hat. They got the inspiration for it while listening to the international broadcast for the airport in Toronto.
The members of Rush are so good at what they do that if you look at 8:36 on your reaction, you'll notice that Geddy Lee knocks himself in the head for fun while in the middle of playing that fast part.
This is the tip of the iceberg. I like directing newer fans to the lyric-video of "Marathon". The musicianship combined with the brilliant poetry it what made Rush, Rush in a lot of people's books. Early Rush songs are just some sci fi or fantasy things like every Prog Rock band from the 70's did. By the mid 80's Rush matured as musicians and Neil Peart (drummer and lyricist) as a poet.
I'm a huge Rush fan (seen them many times live here in the US and they were amazing) so I would recommend the song The Spirit of Radio from their album Permanent Waves for your next Rush exploration. With that said, review the rest of the songs from the first side of their album from 1981 Moving Pictures. You've done Tom Sawyer and YYZ so check out Red Barchetta and Limelight and The Camera Eye from side two. Moving Pictures was brilliant from beginning to end and is arguably considered their masterwork.
Excellent analysis. Rush was always complex so it wasn't super popular which is fine. Critics hated them for the longest time until late in their career when ALL the other great bands from that era were long gone. Rush continued on and as Trent Reznor said, he felt fhey were on a "righteous path" which is both a great thing to say and a helluva compliment. Wonderful seeing your enthusiasm and recognizing how talented all three guys are. Rush were the last of their kind but people will learn, listen and admire them forever. Not many musical artists can say that.
Rush had put out three albums that went no where and were about to be dropped by the record label. The label demanded a hit album. Rush didn't want to do that and instead if we are going out we will put out the album we want. 2112 was not only the album title but one side of the album. Call it the shot heard round the world if you want it started it all. As a note: There are lots of hits from the first albums. Some songs they played till the last show. RIP Neil.
The title 'YYZ' comes from the IATA airport identification code of Toronto Pearson International Airport, near Rush's hometown. A VHF omnidirectional range system at the airport broadcasts the YYZ identifier code in Morse Code which Alex Lifeson introduced to his bandmates.
In Morse code Y is _ . _ _ and Z is _ _ . . When they all start playing at the beginning (and the end) if you assign the higher note to the dash and the lower note to the dot you get the rhythm of that first part. _ . _ _ _ . _ _ _ _ . . Hope that makes sense.
YYZ is the airport call letters for Toronto Pearson International airport… of course RUSH are from Toronto. RUSH, is regarded as the best band in the world by other great bands. Neil Peart is regarded as one of the greatest drummers of all time… these guys rock!!! 🇨🇦
Rush is one of my favorite bands along with Camel, in this type of progressive music, and this is one of the craziest recitals I've seen of Rush, great Canadian musicians. I also include here Triana, a Spanish group. It should be noted that Rush on his tours has reached my country Chile, with his tremendous music, where his drummer helped in a collection for the Chilean Red Cross, in approximately 2010 due to the event of the miners trapped by a landslide. Within what could be called a branch of progressive music is rock with Andean and Latin American roots, from a group that has been making music of this type since the 60s, they are called Los Jaivas, who have an extensive repertoire of very good, highlighting their originality for the use of ethnic instruments and almost their own authorship, since they modified some to obtain the sound they wanted. From Los Jaivas that I suggest you listen to for the first time is 'Mira Niñita', and if you like it I can recommend other songs, such as 'La Conquistada', 'La Poderosa Muerte', 'Aguila Sideral', 'Tarka y Ocarina', 'Guajira Cosmica', 'Corre Que te Pillo' etc etc. Los Jaivas. ua-cam.com/video/uzdc0C9p9h4/v-deo.html Mira Niñita (Video Oficial) ua-cam.com/video/fjcu6UXemh8/v-deo.html La Conquistada ua-cam.com/video/Z1nDWNcbWAQ/v-deo.html La Poderosa Muerte ua-cam.com/video/9OsLIi2YgAQ/v-deo.html Sube a Nacer Conmigo Hermano Thxs for the Reaction.

Call it the shot heard round the world if you want it started it all.
As a note: There are lots of hits from the first albums. Some songs they played till the last show.
RIP Neil.
Natural Science and Red Barchetta should be on your list
The title 'YYZ' comes from the IATA airport identification code of Toronto Pearson International Airport, near Rush's hometown. A VHF omnidirectional range system at the airport broadcasts the YYZ identifier code in Morse Code which Alex Lifeson introduced to his bandmates.
Spirit of the Radio next!
Wait..there are no lyrics to this song....amazing Brazilian kids...hold my beer.
Zed
In Canada, we say Zed.
The airport's located in Canada, so it's properly pronounced "Why-Why-Zed."
Yes Canadians say Zed…..Americans say Zee. YYZ are the call letters for the Toronto airport.
YYZ is the airport call letters for Toronto Pearson International airport… of course RUSH are from Toronto.
RUSH, is regarded as the best band in the world by other great bands. Neil Peart is regarded as one of the greatest drummers of all time… these guys rock!!! 🇨🇦
You need to watch Rush Xanadu Live Exit Stage Left
Los Jaivas.

Thxs for the Reaction.
Ever airport has a three-letter indentation code. YYZ is for Toronto Canada.
the morse code for yyz airport is the beat neil put the drums to
If love Rush instrumentals you have to review La Villa Strangiato 10 minutes of instrumental bliss. 😊
Its not morse code. Its the abbreviation code to Pearson Airport in Toronto. As in the luggage tags.
If you want epic Rush, check out the greatest intro by Rush in Clesvland, Ohio
The intro is inspired by the YYZ Morse code. It is not Morse code.
The Morse code is just at the very beginning and is the lead in.
