And Obi WAN’s response feels even more accurate. He is like “Wtf? No I just watched you choke her to death you fool.” And says “You did that yourself.” It’s almost like Obi Wan was the audience, confused on why Anakin was saying this.
It made sense in the original too because it seemed as Padme had been brainwashed by Obi's perspective from Anakins point of view. When she says she couldnt follow him in his delusion, and refuse to continue with him, he says that.
@@MorbidGod391also Vader's ignorance of his children because he thought them to be actually Kenobi's. May be he even feels Luke rather than Kenobi on the Death Star (in IV) as something he hadn't felt since Padme on Mustafar, Kenobi going into the battle to prevent their meeting. After Luke uses the Force and connects to it, Vader cannot deny the truth and starts the way to return to the Light Side. If Anakin turned against Kenobi for taking his family, no wonder he turned against Palpatine. Otherwise it doesn't make sense why Vader hadn't turned on him right after loosing Padme since it was main reason for his defection in the original 3rd episode.
That revelation that Palps implied that Obi-Wan was involved with Padme is stunning. That explains why Annie acted like he caught her cheating when he saw him on Mustafar.
“Because of Obi Wan?” “You turned her against me” “Liar!” “You are with him. You brought him here to kill me.” “I don’t want to hear anymore about Obi Wan” It makes so much sense now
@@StarWarsAnalyst That's pure speculation on your part... Llke alot of things on this channel. Anakin wanted more power since he thought to be the chosen one (And George Lucas made it so from the start with the stupid immaculate conception with shmi skywalker) *Since he was a Jedi ! He pledged an oath to celibacy that he negated from the start* ... He should have been expelled from the Jedi order, but they kept him because they used him and because they were afraid of what he could do since his "a child of the Force" (immaculate conception). The distrust between Anakin and the whole Jedi Order only grew, and Palpatine just used and manipulate Anakin BUT also befriend him to the contrary to the jedi who only used him.
It would have been better AFTER at least he had completely turned to the dark side, or else it would have affected his motivation to save her, don't you think?
It's been awhile since I read it, but I remember when I read the novelization of this movie, it strongly hinted that Anakin thought Obi-Wan was going to move in on Padme. I really need to re-read the novelizations, it's been far too long.
@@seaweed719 ,my God mate!, are you fucking mad!.., Do you have any idea the length of which that film would be??.. Not to mention the time in production. That's nearly half a decade of events that also occurred in between every comic series in the aftermath of A.O.t and leading up to R.o.t. but as a historian of the galaxy far far away, I would have to fully 1000% agree with you!.. I request, Nay, I DEMAND a full decade live action reenactment of the years between 22bby and 19bby..
It would've been amazing if instead of "Sometimes the closest are the ones who cannot see", Palpatine's line was "Search your feelings, you know it to be true."
The more I learn about ROTS deleted scenes, the more I think: “WHY THE FORCE DID THEY NOT PUT THAT IN THE MOVIE?!” They honestly deleted some of the best parts.
I've long had a theory that Lucas didn't want to make Anakin into Vader when the time came. It's my opinion that because of all the media and merchandise around Anakin Lucas pretty much turned him into one of the defining childhood heroes of thousands of children and when it came time to pull the trigger and show his fall to the dark side he was so unsure of what to show people that he just fumbled the ball because he was uncertain about taking a generation of children's symbol of good and justice and twisting him into sorta space hitler.
I think George Lucas got episode 3 nearly completely correct considering my 13 year old self cried in the theater from the moment Anakin cut off Mace Windu's hand and collapsed on a chair saying "What have I done!?" Until the credits rolled... Seriously tears were falling from my eyes for over an hour as I was transfixed by the rest of the movie! And I could never see the OT the same way again making Anakin's redemption in Return of the Jedi even more meaningful to me!!!
Give Ian McDiarmid his flowers. He played Chancellor Palpatine to perfection. Cold and calculating with just a subtle hint of intentional campiness that feigned vulnerability of the character.
I know everyone knows this, but I’ll just say it again, Sidious/Palpatine is just so delightfully evil. He’s absolutely loving it and it just resonates through the film’s brilliantly.
Over the years Palpatine has become my favorite character in the SW. Not b/c he is evil, because he is so deep. I know a lot of people hate on the TROS, but I was just happy to see him again in a SW movie :)
He's the best movie villain ever. So corrupt, so murderous, so manipulative, so selfish, while being able to convince everyone else that he's legit. And he out-villains the villain who taught him everything. AND he has the best evil cackle and laugh.
The part where anakin is manipulated into thinking obi wan is trying to steal his shorty also explains the line before the mustafar fight scene when anakin says “YOU WILL NOT TAKE HER FROM ME”
An extended, improved Episode III would be something to behold. We can still enjoy the insight provided by the superb *Revenge of the Sith* novelization by Matthew Stover... which I consider the best Star Wars book ever written. (I don't say that lightly.)
The scene in the RotS novelization where Palpatine gradually coaxes Anakin to admit what he truly wants while playing on his trust and frustrations and Palpatine slowly reveals his true identity as the sun sets behind him, slowly showing his face go into shadow is perhaps the most perfectly structured scene that for the life of me I can't fathom why Lucas cut.
That and the way Palpatine actually reveals his true identity to Anakin. Not brining up Padme's impending death, but circling back to "The Tragedy of Darth Plagues the Wise". In the novel Palpatine tells Anakin that Darth Plagues was no myth. He was real. He was Palpatine's master. Plagues taught him everything....before he killed him.
The novelization has so many extra scenes - especially the more descriptive scene and explanation when the council denies him mastery. Every fan should read that one for sure.
I bought the light sabres for my brother for Christmas. We reenacted the Anakin Dooku fight and my brother has no hands now. Really great product. Cant recommend it enough
This video confirmed what I had long thought. During the released version you can tell Anakin has suspicions about Obi-wan and Padme when he says "Obi-wan was here, wasn't he." You could hear the jealousy in his tone, (Hayden did a good job of expressing that even if the scenes were cut leading up to that.) and before they begin their epic fight on Mustafar. "You will not take her from me!". Even without the deleted scenes, you just knew that his anger was also fueled by his jealousy, and the fear of losing her. I had always assumed that Palpatine had a big part in putting those insecurities into Anakin's mind, and these deleted scenes explain better, as to why he was more willing to turn to the dark side even though he must have known that it too, would have ended their relationship and marriage. It was hard to believe that he could think that Padme would ever support his idea of ruling the galaxy with her however they wished. A last ditch effort to win her back from Obi-wan I suspect, by promising her power and a type of freedom they never had together. His mind was totally twisted by that point and time.
I kind of interpreted that anakin realized that obi wan was trying to pry for information from padme, and NOT stealing her in clone wars atleast Obi Wan already had Satine, so I see no reason for anakin to believe that
I am glad to see Hayden getting rehabilitated. A lot of the "poor" acting on his part was from writing and him being told to act a certain way. He was told to be robotic to simulate Vader but it didn't work on some scenes. He was truly a good actor, frankly all the acting was good in the Prequels, the story was crap though and I wish I could see them remade with better writing that lines up with the OT (notably, Anakin shouldn't be a CHILD when Obi Won meets him. His description of Anakin in a New Hope doesn't line up with the Prequel introduction). Make Anakin a member of the Naboo Air Force.
This makes that passionate "I hate you" line from when anakin was burned and rolling on the ground make so much more sense now. He thinks the man he trusted most went behind his back and took his wife physically then left him scarred and burned.
We already knew that. We didn't need to be told that Palpatine set it all up. I actually prefer the idea that it grew organically out of Anakin's fear.
Those last 2 deleted scenes, where he tries to turn obiwan and padme against him, are monumental to the rest of the movie, literally 0 clue as to why they'd cut them. Incredible scenes
WHY THE F**K DID THEY CUT ALL THIS OUT? As many have pointed out, a lot of Hayden's lines and choices make way more sense now. By cutting all of this, it made it seem as if Hayden was a bad actor, making weird choices. It also made the script feel oddly written...they shot themselves in the foot with this and screwed over Hayden in the process. Glad he's had a chance to come back and "redeem" himself.
Agreed. He took a character that would probably just be a plot point and made him so memorable that he became the most gloriously evil villain in cinema
@@OrodaranThey generally made good casting decisions with the OT, but Ian McDiarmid as the Emperor in ROTJ was probably the one with the most long-term impact. The man almost single-handedly salvages the prequels and Rise of Skywalker.
It is too bad that these scenes were removed, in the released cut of the movies, I always thought that Anakin's turning to the dark side was a little abrupt and unbelievable, these scenes would have come across as a much more realistic build-up to his turning.
Same here, it’s always made it difficult to take his turn seriously. You can’t get a guy from being undecided to slaughtering children in one or two scenes. This might not have swayed me completely, but it definitely would’ve helped me to believe in Anakin’s drastic change of character.
A little? 😂 ah you nerds who want so badly for this movie to be good. These deleted scenes are pretty crushing, removing them basically killed the plot.
ya it does if only we could get a full cut of revenge of the sith deleted scenes and all but this will do they are canon to the movie just wasn't time to fit them in and had to focus on more important stuff
I feel like deleted scenes are simply not in the Final Cut but still happened behind the scenes. I mean it makes sense now why Anakin said “you’re with him, you brought him here to kill me” and “I hate you!” None of which makes any sense until you learn that he did suspect an affair based on the deleted scenes. This is awesome.
I think it honestly was pretty obvious that Anakin was convinced of an affair between Padme and Obi-wan from various uncut scenes and dialogue. Even as a child I knew that it was part of why he fell to the dark side. Was it really hard to realize this while watching the film without seeing these deleted scenes? I felt it was obvious and was cut for time as I was watching this video. I think some of these scenes do flesh out other aspects of Sidious' manipulation but the idea of an affair was present in the theatrical cut I thought...
Great vid! These cut scenes and dialogue make the story of Anakin's fall smoother and more believable imo. And I love the part w Padme, and Anakin is by Palpatine's side. Genius!
If they had revealed that Palpatine had caused Padme to die in childbirth, using Dark Side wizardry, it would have tied everything together. Why she died, the source of Anakin's premonitions that drove him to the Dark Side, and the loss that kept him there. All engineered by Palpatine.
@@Parochaouch, that's scathing. I'd disagree tho, broken heart syndrome is a real thing, and I think it hammers home to audiences that turning to the dark side destroys what you Love. Since the prequel is really about Anakins choice and the price it cost him, Padme's "lost will" fits the theme nicely.
@@samriver3677 don’t get me wrong. I’m not a prequel hater, nor do I dismiss the impact of Anakin’s turn to the Dark Side on destroying what he sought to protect, either. My gripe is with the writing itself. Lucas, as much as I love his work, has always had some difficulty writing dialogue for his characters, specifically when the characters need to express something beyond simply saying so (“If you are suffering as much as I am, tell me”, “ I've been dying a little bit each day since you came back into my life.” - those lines sound what an angsty teenage girl might write, to be fair) 😆
@@Parocha that's fair, George himself admits/brags being the king of wooden dialogue. I think he doesn't even try to make it better, because he believes that the themes are what's truly important. He even lazily left a couple editing flaws in the final production..When they were pointed out to him during production, he responded by saying people who noticed those were looking at the wrong things in his movies. Examples being the switched lightsaber hilts during the Anakin/Obi-Wan duel, or Obi-wan turning the wrong way when leaving Kamino. I think he just wanted to hammer home the themes involved,, and fixing the editing or even improving the dialogue wouldn't have been useful in that, so he left it as it was.
@@samriver3677 Maybe, but it doesn't fit the perseverance of hope and love that Padmé has for her husband and children even to her dying breath, nor does it fit the real life symptoms of broken heart syndrome or psychogenic death.
Moral of the story, if you see someone doing something worth a few thank yous and not receiving enough praise, be there to thank them and tell them they’re doing great. Otherwise someone will get there before you do, and that person might not have their best interests at heart.
As Yoda clearly explained to Luk in ESB, a Jedi doesn't crave affirmation. A Jedi's concern is supposed to flow _outwards_ , not inwards. A Jedi who needs their ego to constantly be stroked with a "thank you" or "you're doing great" is someone who became a Jedi for the wrong reasons. Qui Gon outright told Anakin in TPM that being a Jedi wasn't easy. Glory and external affirmation is what darksiders chase after.
@@decepticonxhunter4850 Indeed. But on the other hand, the Jedi knew Anakin wasn't a child raised from infancy at the Temple, who didn't have much background to speak of, but a child who had already had long and painful experiences in his past as a slave, and whose mother stayed behind as a slave while he was freed. They should have known better than to try and have him trained and treated like just another Force-sensitive child, and should instead have paid close attention to who Anakin was, what made him tick, and should have helped him through the struggles he'd have to face because of his background. Obi-wan, of course, wasn't equipped to handle those... But Qui-Gon was up to that task, where no other Jedi might have been, and it is one of the two tragedies of the Phantom Menace that he didn't live to train and raise Anakin in the way he needed. Instead, Anakin was taught not to crave affirmation as a general rule, but the personal reasons why he craved it to begin with were never adressed, and he was just expected to behave like no child with his background could have. It was all too easy for Palpatine to prey on that...
@@decepticonxhunter4850 It’s not glory, it’s acknowledgment and respect. Simply put, care and love. These are things he desperately lacked from the Order, would’ve gotten from Qui Gon, and deceitfully got from Sidious
@@decepticonxhunter4850 Except this doesn't really hold up, at least as far as the EU goes. The Jedi Order by the time of the prequel trilogy is sort of a far cry from what they used to be thousands of years ago. After they believed the Sith to have been wiped out, the Jedi Order started changing for the worse. ofc, I'm not saying Old Republic Jedi would crave affirmation like Anakin does, just that it wasn't outright forbidden or thought of as a path towards the Dark Side. I genuinely think if the Jedi Order was as they were in the Old Republic era that not only would Palpatine have a harder time, but Anakin would be more accepted and harder to turn.
Comment quote: “You turned her against me” and “you will not take her from me” makes so much more sense now. Always wondered why Anakin said that. It's true that this scenes clarify those lines but the lines it self mean something as well. I think they make the choice to cut these out because of the simplicity of just a wife-robbering like... this is Star Wars is not just about a girlfriend drama so they deleted these parts
That thing with padme also gives an entirely different meaning to: "you turned her against me." And: "You will not take her from me." It also gives him more and more reason to prove himself to padme. That he's worth more than obi wan.
It also means that Obi Wans responses "you have done that yourself" and "your anger and your lust for power have already done that" read as implied admissions of something going on, as he's not outright denying what Anakin is saying.
I really never understood why Lucas deleted that entire subplot. It made the story so much more cohesive and like you said tied it to the original in a much clearer way. Plus, it is more believable that Anakin would fall to darkness over the fear and jealousy of those he loved betraying him, even if it wasn't true, than purely over politics.
He didn't turn just because of politics, it was mainly because he was afraid of losing Padmé like he lost his mother. He wanted dark side power to save her life, and also to rule over the Jedi who didn't respect him (but even that was more of an afterthought once he had more power).
I've always felt the 3rd movie went over too fast and that Anakin fell way too fast (and there was too little shown). These scenes actually make the movie be so much better.
It's because the first two movies focused very little on characterization and development. We didn't even meet Anakin until half way through TPM and, other than the podrace, we didn't really learn much about him. Any screentime with Anaking in AOTC just had him either act irritated with obi-wan, force chemistry with Padme, and violently murder women and children. In ROTS, they literally back pedal with Anakin and Obiwan talking about previous adventures we never saw, having saved each other's lives, and that one scene in the beginning when Anakin chooses to go help the other starfighters - all to quickly establish that he's a good guy after ATOC made him look like an unlikable psychopath, and TPM had almost zero development. So yeah, after botching Anakin's story, they had to rush to build him up as a likeable good guy before having him fall and become Vader. Absolute Shite.
@@funkmasteryoda8323 first we learned a lot about anakin in tpm second the chemistry wasn't forced with padme third of course he was irritated with obi wan fourth of course he killed the sand people like come on did you not see the look on anakins face when she died the rage or when he tells padme what he does he was teetering between rage and regret fifth aotc showed him as a conflicted teenager who didn't know how to process or handle he's emotions sense he's been told to control he's emotions not how to regulate them then he meets padme again after 10 years if you pay attention when he is with her he is always moving he's hands remember the line life seems so much simpler when your fixing things when he's working with he's hands he feels like he's in control. so when he's nervous like when he's alone with padme he fidgets a lot with he's hands as if he's trying to retain that feeling of working with tools when he's dealing with figures of authority like palpatine or obi wan he consciously hides he's hands. you have to pay attention to visual cues the emotion in he's acting people like to brush of the romance as awkward and clumsy and it's supposed to be that way they are both inexperienced and young and anakin is honest he laid out he's heart to her and spoke from the heart about what he felt and that's a beautiful thing.

Part of you will always lie upon black glass sand beside a lake of fire while flames chew at your flesh. You can hear yourself breathing. It comes hard, and harsh, and it scrapes nerves already raw, but you cannot stop it. You can never stop it. You cannot even slow it down. You don’t even have lungs anymore. Mechanisms hardwired into your chest breathe for you. They will pump oxygen into your bloodstream forever. Lord Vader? Lord Vader, can you hear me? And you can’t, not in the way you once did. Sensors in the shell that prisons your head trickle meaning directly into your brain. You open your scorched-pale eyes; optical sensors integrate light and shadow into a hideous simulacrum of the world around you. Or perhaps the simulacrum is perfect, and it is the world that is hideous. Padme? Are you here? Are you all right? you try to say, but another voice speaks for you, out from the vocabulator that serves you for burned-away lips and tongue and throat. Padme? Are you here? Are you all right? I’m very sorry, Lord Vader. I’m afraid she died. It seems in your anger, you killed her. This burns hotter than the lava had. No…no, it is not possible! You love her. You have always loved her. You could never will her death. Never. But you remember… You remember all of it. You remember the dragon that you brought Vader forth from your heart to slay. You remember the cold venom in Vader’s blood. You remember the furnace of Vader’s fury, and the black hatred of seizing her throat to silence her lying mouth… And there is one blazing moment in which you finally understand that there was no dragon. That there was no Vader. That there was only you. Only Anakin Skywalker. That it was all you. Is you. Only you. You did it. You killed her. You killed her because, finally, when you could have saved her, when you could have gone away with her, when you could have been thinking about her, you were thinking about yourself… It is in this blazing moment that you finally understand the trap of the dark side, the final cruelty of the Sith - Because now yourself is all you will ever have. And you rage and scream and reach through the Force to crush the shadow who has destroyed you, but you are so far less now than what you were. You are more than half machine, you are like a painter gone blind, a composer gone deaf, you can remember where the power was but the power you can touch is only a memory, and so with all your world-destroying fury it is only droids around you that implode, and equipment, and the table on which you were strapped shatters, and in the end, you cannot touch the shadow. In the end, you do not even want to. In the end, the shadow is all you have left. Because the shadow understands you, the shadow forgives you, the shadow gathers you unto itself- And within your furnace heart, you burn in your own flame. Wow this really adds so much more context and insight to his shift to the dark side and how he acts when he sees Obi Wan and Padme before that fateful fight. I can’t believe it was all taken out of the Final Cut. Thankyou for sharing this!
I just rewatched ROTS recently and again thought to myself "why does it seem like Anakin suddenly becomes afraid of Obi Wan being Mr Steal-yo-girl" Now it all makes sense
@@X2Lazy2WinX but even then they don’t build Obi Wan up as someone who’d break his Jedi vows like what did Anakin see that would make him believe that of Obi Wan.
@@discodrip3097 Agree. Had an actual affair occurred, then this plot-line would really work. Unfortunately star-wars characters are generally not setup as being "grey" like this, and the themes have to be setup to be PG, so it was never going to work.
I always felt there was just something missing from the plot. Some extra extra motivation was needed for Anakin to turn to evil. These scene make the plot make so much more sense. Anakin goes from being a bratty teenager that was not allowed on the council, to a decorated and well established war hero that was denied something that was deservedly his. Palpatine turned his “Brother” against him and that makes the final duel so much more intense. Great video essay!
@@bermyvloggeruh yeah? I mean yeah in the movie we assume he thinks they’re working together, maybe even more. But the thing is, there’s literally been absolutely NO setup to Anakin even suspecting that Padmé is having an affair, let alone with Obi-Wan of all people. It’s pretty abrupt and jarring for him to assume all of a sudden, even if we can understand what he’s implying
@@TheAwesomePadronShow That's not what the scene implies in the theatrical release. "You turned her against me!" And "You will not take her from me!" Can both be referring to obi-wan telling padme about his dark deeds. The conversation between anakin and padme before these lines reinforces this. Anakin learns that obi-wan told padme about what he did and anakin, being borderline insane right now, tries to convince her that obi-wan is lying. This fails, and from anakins perspective obi-wan, the person who told padme these things, turned padme against him. The scene flows just fine. There is nothing jarring about it. The truth is, is that everyone in this comment section saying that these deleted scenes make his turn make more sense obviously don't have the faintest clue about anakin as a character. These deleted scenes weren't necessary, hence why they were cut in the first place.
One thing I love about the ROTS novelization by Matthew Stover is that it portrayed all of these scenes phenomenally, making it all the more painful for Anakin's fall and Padme's heart breaking when she sees what he has become.
Anakin jealousy makes SO much more sense after watching this! It always seemed kind of petty to suddenly assume obi wan & padme were going behind his back
It doesn't work for me to be honest. Obi-Wan and Anakin have been away fighting the Clone Wars so when is this affair supposed to have happened? Also such relationships are banned by the Order, as Anakin knows only too well, so why would he believe Obi-Wan, the consummate Jedi, would break that rule let alone with Padme? A much better explanation for Anakin's behaviour is given in the novel. In that book after hearing the story of Plagueis and how he could stop death Anakin is led to believe that Dark Side knowledge is in the Jedi vault. There's just one problem. Only Jedi Masters who sit on the Council are allowed access to such knowledge. When Palpatine gets him a seat on the Council he's almost euphoric with hope. When the Council then denies him the rank of Master he's shocked and angry as he sees the chance to save Padme ripped away from him. Instead of petulance as it seems in the movie, he's simply reacting out of abject despair. And it gives him another reason to think well of Palpatine, who put him on the Council, and ill of the Jedi who denied him the rank he needed. In Anakin's mind it also means Palpatine is now his only hope of acquiring the knowledge to save his wife.
@@jjc5407 ”Obi-Wan and Anakin have been away fighting the Clone Wars so when is this affair supposed to have happened?” I mean, applying the same logic, the same could also be said about Anakin and Padmé’s relationship throughout the Clone Wars, as well as her pregnancy. It’s not like Anakin and Obi-Wan were out and about the entire time throughout the Clone Wars. They would frequently report back to Coruscant. And Anakin and Obi-Wan weren’t together 100% of the time. Sometimes Anakin would be leading a battle in one place while Obi-Wan was somewhere else and vice versa. Plenty of time for an affair to take place. As for why Anakin would believe Obi-Wan would break the rule, it’s been established in the Clone Wars show that Obi-Wan had a past lover (Satine, Duchess of Mandalore) who he straight up tells in one of the episodes that if she had agreed to fully be with him in the past, he would’ve left the Jedi Order to be with her. Now Anakin didn’t hear that interaction but from what I remember, it’s heavily implied that he understands at least to some degree that him and Satine had some kind of semi-romantic relationship in the past Don’t get me wrong, I do wish the part about the knowledge in the Jedi archives was brought up in the movie as well. But the subplot about Palpatine manipulating Anakin into believing Obi-Wan is having an affair with Padmé definitely should’ve been included as well and makes his hatred of Obi-Wan make a lot more sense other than just all of a sudden
I think it casts a great highlight on Anakin and his lack of maturity (the weakness Darth Vader despised) that he never once thought to challenge the narrative Palpatine was feeding him.
Just noticed this - pause at 2:01 just as Anakin is walking through the door. All you see is his shadow, looks like Vader already. I'm sure this was intentional. As well as his pace - slows - like Vader. Great little extra.
It explains the burning hatred in Anakin's eyes as he slides down the slope towards the lava. It's not just that he now believes with all his heart that the Jedi are evil, and that Obi Wan never truly believed in him, held him back, and just physically crippled him... but that he also stole his one love--his wife. So dark :(
How was anyone so blind as to not see how important these dialogs are to the story? Killing the younglings is still a huge stretch, but a lot of other things fall into place.
@@RenegadePlayingGames It works better with. There's absolutely no reason for Anakin to drop off the deep end. There needed to be more explanation as to why. At least this provides more push in that direction.
To be honest ever since i got the DVD of Revenge of the Sith in 2005 and rewatched it a few times I have had a theroy that all the visions of Padme's death except the last one where Obi-Wan was with Padme when she died were fake visions Palpatine showed Anakin to make him turn to the dark side in order to save her. Otherwise his years in the making plan is too dependant on Anakin having to worry about Padme dying. Palpatine knew he had some influence on Anakin because he was a sort of listening ear and mentor over the years. And he got Anakin to compromise Jedi values by taking revenge on a disarmed Dooku. Add to that his frustration with the Jedi Council not making him a Master after many great accomplishments and Master Windu in particular repeatedly showing open distrust of Anakin. However I do not think all that alone would be enough to fully drive Anakin into becoming a Sith because he would worry about Padme hating him. You can see he can not even bring himself to tell Padme what he did after obeying Palpatine's order to attack the Jedi Temple and spare no one and that Anakin instead makes up a half true story about Master Windu attempting to kill Palpatine and implying Obi-Wan and others may remain safe if they have maintained loyalty to the Chancelor so we see how much Anakin cares about how Padme thinks of him even when he has gone past the line into the dark side... So I think the fake visions idea makes a lot of sense and these deleted scenes further show how far Palpatine had been going to manipulate Anakin as well!
It's even more interesting when you start to think about the visions he had of his mother dying in Ep2, and the original Ep3 script Dooku revealing he was behind it. Possibly implanted even back then. But I do like the idea of Anakin having the visions on his own, due to his level of power, and Palps sensing and controlling things to his advantage that way (also connects to Luke's visions in the originals)
At the tme, I thought they would show the infants on Dagobah. Recall Luke saying the place was familiar? Lucas should have brought that to recollection.@@Trezzpops
Palpatine is such an incredible character. His manipulations and his insanely detailed and clever plots made the prequels and the Clone Wars so damn good. Definitely more complex storytelling than the originals.
It makes so much more sense now when Padme confronts Anakin on Mustafar and when he screams “LIAR”. Anakin really believed she was having an affair with Obi wan
There were some strong deleted scenes that dove farther into the development. But, the final cut of the movie was already lengthy and super dense with development. It's often that great scenes have to be cut for theatrical releases. That said, I wish we could have director's cuts of the films with restored footage made available for those willing to sit the extra time.
Palpatine was also manipulating the council and Anakin when he suggested that Anakin be the one to go take out Grievous. He suggested that because he knew they would reject his idea out of hand and Anakin wouldn't be sent. Anakin would again feel like the council is holding him back and the council would play right into Palpatine's hand by keeping Anakin on Coruscant.
Other than what most people have already said about how this adds so much to Anakin’s lines on Mustafar before him and Obi-Wan’s lightsaber battle, this also adds even more appreciation from me for the Clone Wars episodes where Anakin is shown to be highly jealous of Clovis when it comes to Padmé. If this Obi-Wan/Padmé scenes had been left in, those episodes would’ve greatly foreshadowed it
I think these scenes would have added even more depth to Palpsy's subtle brilliance and intense strategic mastery. Gently nudging and pushing the _pieces_ until they fall into CHECKMATE. Awesome show! \m/
I love that they kept all the deleted bits in the novelization of revenge of the Sith. That book is amazing. Upon reading it I was like omg I finally get Palpatines seduction of Anakin. In the movie with all the bits cut out, it seems like much more of a heel turn. But with all the added context, you see the way Palpatine isolates Anakin from everyone close to him, and reframes himself as the only sincere or heartfelt friend in his life. It really called to mind the way an abuser will groom a victim.
They needed to keep so many of these in. Especially Anakin hearing that Obi-Wan and Padme were seeing each other. The final duel is even more emotional that way.
I had not heard about the part about Palpatine planting the ideas of Kenobi and Amidala before. It makes so much more sense on several levels. I so wish they would have left those in! Not only do we get more of Ian acting manipulative and evil which is very entertaining, and not only does it make several lines that anakin says make more sense but it makes Anakin's fall to the dark side feel more plausible.
Palpatine was a very naughty boy ... Watched a documentary on 'vile eye' (think its called) they analyse evil characters from movies etc ... Well worth a watch
It always felt to me that anakin’s turn to the dark side was not fleshed out very well in the movies. Now I see why! Great video! We need a directors cut!!
It it just amazing how just a few minutes, couple lines can really give ya more revelation and understanding of alot of the emotions w/ characters not understood.
This makes a lot of anakin’s dialogue at the end make so much sense. “You will not take her from me!” I always thought that line was strange until now.
I just dont understand why extended versions of the prequels dont exist kind of like lord of the rings, they have tons of amazing deleted scenes, why not use them and order them well? I mean disney also cancelled the clone wars, they cancelled the episodes of the end of ventress, the episodes of anakin missing ahsoka in the order... A lot of very very good deleted scenes.
All of the stuff explained in this video should have been in the final cut of Revenge of the Sith. I heard that the film was originally supposed to be 4 hours long. I wish we would have gotten that cut because it would have been a lot better and tied so many things together. This is a great video. Keep up the awesome work.
@@phantomcosmonaut9127 its good to show order 66. I don't think it was in the movie, but in the LEGO videogame, there is a cool level where you play Yoda, fighting both droids and clone trooper NPC's, while the droid and clone trooper NPC's are fighting EACH OTHER at the same time. So it is like a 3-sided battle going on lol
something that palpaitne specificly said was something i had been saying to many people for a long time. that palpatine was manipulating him since shildhood
“We must all endure adjustments to the constitution in the name of security” I LOVE this line and it’s such a shame it was cut, because it’s probably the one line from the prequels that sells best just how easily democracy can be lost starting with the smallest sacrifices.
The Revenge of the Sith novelization does an amazing job of bringing to life the seduction of Anakin, as well as his utter exhaustion. Anakin's decision to join the Sith was not the spur of the moment decision depicted in the movie. He made the conscious decision that Palpatine was right and joined him. It's a masterpiece of writing.
Finally, someone giving the book the hype it deserves! I actually downloaded a digital copy and highlighted all the scenes that foreshadow Anakin’s turn- the end result was mind blowing. There are so many bits and pieces in the novelization that just aren’t in the movie; Anakin is torn almost from the very beginning. It depicts Palpatine as the master manipulator that he is, and Anakin as the confused, scarred boy that he really is. Like you said- Ani was utterly exhausted, and he did what he thought he had to do to save the people he loved.
@@amarawoolery8404 - thank you. This and the Darth Plagueis novels are the best I've ever read from the SW universe. It's my opinion that both are written so well that the reader doesn't even have to be a huge, SW person to thoroughly enjoy them. The exhaustion aspect is one that I really appreciated and it too comes via the hands of Palpatine. It's a very subtle thing that many overlook but it is also absolutely critical to his fall. Palpatine kept him in constant motion, in a constant spotlight, deprived of rest and the presence/proximity of those he loved. Having had led his life under these conditions for months before coming home at the crescendo of Palpatine's plan, ie days before the fall of the Jedi ...... Anakin simply could not catch his breath or think clearly. It's brilliant because these are all textbook things one does in psy ops/brainwashing. As much as the obvious manipulations, this piece sealed the deal for Sidious.
@@brandybrown8296 Sorry for just now seeing this, but thank you for taking the time to respond. I could nerd out over this aspect of the SW universe forEVER. You are right, and you can certainly see this theme throughout the novelization. I'm about halfway through the "Brotherhood" novel, and though it doesn't hold a candle to ROTS, Palplatine's manipulation of Anakin is present in it as well. Palp made sure that Anakin never even had the opportunity to question the Chancellor's motives or virtues. I truly don't think that the young Jedi ever saw it coming until the very end of the tragic storyline; even when Palpatine ordered him to kill Count Dooku, it seemed like Anakin couldn't fathom that his idol would ever ask him to do something wrong. Surely, the issue must lie in his own thinking.
@@amarawoolery8404 it was a spurr of the moment decision it was either let windu kill palpatine the only one he new trusted him believed in him and had the power to save padme or let him die in he's mind letting palpatine die is like letting padme die and once he cut of windus hand there was no going back for him that's why he says what have I done you can hear the despair in he's voice
Episode III is one of the most lauded of the series, rightly so, it was so painful and beautiful and explained everything we hadn’t really known until then. I’m the guy who jumps on people when they talk bad about the prequels because George Lucas did what he set out to do, tell the story of Anakin’s rise and fall and ultímate redemption. Though he may have become the template for absolute evil, Ian was just so good at it he relished that character. Great video thanks.
I find it a bit silly for the scenario to indicate that Anakin turns because he thinks his wife is cheating on his best friend, so it feels a lot better when the scenario implies that she has simply turned on him for a higher moral standard rather than another man. Both Padmé and Obi-Wan want the best for the Republic, but Anakin wants a system that will work more efficiently and not trip up over bureaucratic arguments and political conflict. (That much is evident by what Anakin said in Episode 2 when he was on Naboo with Padmé)
Anakin was a slave , in every turn he faced the corruption but obi wan and padme turn blind eye to it until it is already too late they were to blinded in their ideals and beliefs . Meanwhile Anakin saw and lived corruption in both sides . Like Anakin said Republic was already lost to corruption . And jedi by following republic blindly fall into same corruption too . İt is not just political disagreements or brueacretic fights anymore . Empire was a better system in terms of control , the only flaw was the leader was someone like Palpatine . Besides even empire have a senate so it was the perfect ruling . But jedi and republician delusionalist would reject it of course . Obi wan can change the whole mess , by accepting Anakin's offer of empire . Republic was already a big corrupted mess , most jedi already died , and they were too corrupted . And someone like Palpatine take the control it was a big mess . They will eliminate Palpatine , make Anakin unstable mind to settle . And create a new strong system . Imagine a system that have Anakin as emperor , Padme as empress and governing operator for senate , And a new jedi master and imperial knight as obi wan . Even with all his flaws obi wan would make much more better job than Yoda . He would be great jedi grand master compared to Yoda . Besides even without Palpatine , the war would happen because how badly corrupted republic and jedi is . Separatists forceses born from republic's and jedi corruption . So in the empire of Anakin , there will be indeed peace , justice and security would exist . Thanks to obi wan for being a blind follower of republic instead of the force . " My allegiance is to the republic to the democracy " What a dissapointment jedi has become , instead of the force they still giving their hope to the corruption surrendered Republic , Qui Gonn Jinn turned upside down in his grave when hearing obi wan's words .
@@yagzguven8099 The galaxy would definitely have been in better hands if Anakin became emperor instead of Palpatine. If only Obi-Wan and Padme could have supported him better.

So, when you say you think the scenario of infidelity is a bit silly, what do you mean? @@s3p4kner The way Anakin speaks is more like he's concerned about his side of the argument and his allegiance to the Emperor than if his wife cheated on him. That's why I think it's ridiculous that people jumped to these conclusions. Anakin wants Padmé to be on his side of the argument, but with Obi-Wan stepping in at that time, the argument got even more sour and Anakin realized that neither of them were on his side because Obi-Wan has been known to argue with Anakin from time to time about fundamentals and other important topics and decisions.
@yagzguven8099 you are grossly exaggerating the "corruption" of the Republic and the jedi. The Republic/jedi wasn't remotely corrupt in comparisment to the empire which is actually corrupt. Not to mention that nearly all of the major conflicts in the galaxy was the sith pulling the strings from the shadows. It's like saying; "you know, Adolf Hitler and Mussolini might have had a point", just because democracy might have occasional complications Anakin knows f**k all about politics or how to rule anything. he is by far a more incompetent leader than Palpatine. Idk what you guys are smoking, there is absolutely no way Anakin would create a "peaceful" empire.. or manage to keep the empire alive at all.
I need to watch 3 with the deleted scenes. It provides much needed characterization. Even Palpatine's timely isolation of Obi, Anakin, Padme, and many masters on the council makes the last act far more punchy.
Anakin definitely brought balance to the force. I mean there was just one Sith Lord and an overpowered Jedi order. After order 66 there were two Sith Lords and two Jedi Masters left. If that's not balance I don't know what it is.
Thank you so much for this. Always found it odd, how this manipulation wasn’t actually seeing on screen. The scene when Anakin ask Padme if Obi Wan was at the “apartment” always felt weird but now it makes sense. Why would you delete this vital parts? But again, great video my friend.
Sidious loved Anakin as a son, in his own twisted way, about as much as he could love anyone other than himself, at least. It's why he didn't leave him to die on Mustafar, and why he put up with his sulking and pining for Padme for so long. Any other Sith lord would have killed Vader, or at least genuinely tried to.
Clearly forgetting anakin is the chosen one Aka darth plagues " kind of son" meaning Palpatine knew even crippled he still had the potential to be the strongest there ever was
He didnt loved him he saw him as a pawn to hes bigger plans and further advancing hes agendas! You clearly have no idea how people with cluster b disorders think! You are naive!
I like all three of these scenes. With that being said, there's NO WAY in hell a suave Obi-Wan is going to hit up pregnant-ass Padme for some afternoon delight
I believe Anakin was portrayed as a victim. As powerful as he was I believe he would have started towards the dark side on his own then then naturally be drawn to Palpatine.
Palps was spitting straight game to Ani. Probably could've had him on the track turning tricks😂. I still laugh the way he said "you ever hear about the tragedy of Darth Plagueis" 😂
Palpatine is wise enough to understand the boundaries of trust and sabotage. He aimed to build trust with Anakin while sabotaging Anakin’s trust in those who were truly there for him, Palatine pitted Anakin against himself and pitted Anakin against everyone who wanted the best for him. Palpatine truly understood that Anakin was emotionally ignorant and emotionally codependent, he knew that Anakin was easily attached to people and that Anakin had serious self worth issues when held at such high expectations but always falling short of being “the chosen one” He knew Anakin was under allot of pressure and he was traumatized… Palpatine exploited that weakness. Knowing that the more trust issues Anakin would develop for himself and everyone else… The more he would become drawn to the dark side of the force…. In a desperate search for power and control. He truly understood the roots of what it truly meant to be a Sith. Masquerading as an innocent old man with the best interest of everyone at heart…. Knowing that the quest for absolutes, power, and control is based on a foundation of fear and distrust…. Ultimately leading to a downward spiral of negative emotions and paranoia…. He understood human psychology to a point that he knew how to convert Anakin into Darth Vader. Palpatine puppeteered everything. He probably sent those sand people to kill his mother… He used the force to use Padme as a human sacrifice in order to save Anakin’s burned up body. He deliberately sent Anakin to Mustafar knowing that Obi Wan was going to ultimately leave him for dead. Palpatine could probe Anakin’s dreams giving him visions of pain loss and suffering like he did to what’s his face in the force awakens. Darth Vader Wannabe… Kylo REN… You have to remember… Palpatine was so enforced with the dark side… That he knew the ins and outs of everything and everyone enough to understand how to take full and complete control. He even understood how to emotionally detach himself from morality so that he could shamelessly deceive people without even losing a wink of sleep. Palpatine is a starwars depiction of the devil himself. An accuser, a liar, a trader, a dictator, a subtle snake and absolute manipulator, a cowardice man who fought only for power, glory, control, and dominance… And people who do these sorts of things… Are consumed with fear. And they trust nobody but themselves… And they destroy anybody who gets in their way… Total God Complex.
Best comment ever . When I try to explain how big a threat Palpatine is . And how Anakin never stood a chance against his manipulations or have any choice , people will say He has a choice and everything his mistake . When Palpatine get him in his sigh he was only 9 an ex-slave , ripped away from his mother , in a foreign place and inside a society who rejects him . But people still insist Anakin has a choice . The only reason why Luke win because he didn't have enough time to manipulate him . And Anakin protected Luke from the emperor otherwise even hell gets frozen there is no way Luke will win . But people still undermine Palpatine like he can be defeated just like that . Even with the fight against Windu , (Windu can have upper hand when comes to dueling but let's get real a sith never plays fair , Palpatine probably have second plan if things go south . Besides his immediate lost after Anakin's arrival and him Electro shoking himself it was all a manipulation . ) So yes Palpatine is the most dangerous thing in Star wars . He can literally convince someone to s*uici*de themselves just by talking . Just because he didn't fight or have great action scenes , mistaking him for weak is really ridiculous. There is even people who says VADER was the most evil . And I was like WHAT ??? Compared to emperor , Vader would look like an angel .
@@yagzguven8099 Very perceptive, In order to manipulate someone to destroy themselves… You have to set that person completely up against themselves and everybody against that person and truly isolate that person into thinking they are unloved because they aren’t good enough, the person would have to be religiously, spiritually, psychologically, verbally, emotionally, physically, financially, and sexually abused…. Until this person loses all hope and enthusiasm for life…. It takes allot of trauma to force someone to end their lives…. The person would have to feel so untrusting, so helplesss, overwhelmed, self concerned, and threatened, full of negative emotions, completely starved of compassion and a positive relationship, and damaged beyond repair… Most people who commit suicide… Suffer from ptsd…. It usually isn’t until a few decades later that the post trauma is so overwhelming that the victim loses all hope…. When they feel like their life is nothing but the worlds loss and broken dream and it’s all their fault and they brought everything on themselves… They get to a point of toxic self preservation and coping mechanisms… But they feel like ultimate failures in life. When all hope is gone… They lose all trust and they just want to end the suffering… That mind set is a very very dark and cruel mind set…. Depending on how strong that persons will to live…. Will determine their chances of recovery… I watched someone crumble and die like that… It was a hard loss.
wow Anakin worrying that Obi wan smashed his wife is so much cooler and plausible than what we got, ik it would not have worked with clonewars and so on, but at least within the movies it woulda been so cool!

“You turned her against me” and “you will not take her from me” makes so much more sense now. Always wondered why Anakin said that.
I was just going to comment the exact same thing.
And Obi WAN’s response feels even more accurate. He is like “Wtf? No I just watched you choke her to death you fool.” And says “You did that yourself.”
It’s almost like Obi Wan was the audience, confused on why Anakin was saying this.
It made sense in the original too because it seemed as Padme had been brainwashed by Obi's perspective from Anakins point of view. When she says she couldnt follow him in his delusion, and refuse to continue with him, he says that.
Because he thought Obi-Wan turned her against him.

I've long had a theory that Lucas didn't want to make Anakin into Vader when the time came.
It's my opinion that because of all the media and merchandise around Anakin Lucas pretty much turned him into one of the defining childhood heroes of thousands of children and when it came time to pull the trigger and show his fall to the dark side he was so unsure of what to show people that he just fumbled the ball because he was uncertain about taking a generation of children's symbol of good and justice and twisting him into sorta space hitler.

omg yeah!
Unfortunately the way Disney is handling things now I doubt we'll see it, for the foreseeable future at least.
Is there a deleted scene for that? Because that sounds awesome.
The novelization is such a fuller story. And that’s my absolute favorite scene in the book.

It was also because in some of the visions Anakin had of Padmé dying, Obi-Wan was there comforting her.
I kind of interpreted that anakin realized that obi wan was trying to pry for information from padme, and NOT stealing her
in clone wars atleast Obi Wan already had Satine, so I see no reason for anakin to believe that
I am glad to see Hayden getting rehabilitated.
And Obiwan's "I failed you" probably did not help given this context.

Those last 2 deleted scenes, where he tries to turn obiwan and padme against him, are monumental to the rest of the movie, literally 0 clue as to why they'd cut them. Incredible scenes
Especially when IMO, there were plenty of other parts that could've been trimmed to give this more emphasis.

By cutting all of this, it made it seem as if Hayden was a bad actor, making weird choices. It also made the script feel oddly written...they shot themselves in the foot with this and screwed over Hayden in the process. Glad he's had a chance to come back and "redeem" himself.

It is too bad that these scenes were removed, in the released cut of the movies, I always thought that Anakin's turning to the dark side was a little abrupt and unbelievable, these scenes would have come across as a much more realistic build-up to his turning.
I've always thought the same about the version we got in the movie. This adds a lot more weight to Anakin's fall
100%
Same here, it’s always made it difficult to take his turn seriously. You can’t get a guy from being undecided to slaughtering children in one or two scenes. This might not have swayed me completely, but it definitely would’ve helped me to believe in Anakin’s drastic change of character.
His turning to the Dark Side actually started in Attack of the Clones, not Revenge of the Sith.
A little? 😂 ah you nerds who want so badly for this movie to be good. These deleted scenes are pretty crushing, removing them basically killed the plot.
The deleted scenes really do tie things together, now it makes far greater sense. Thank you for the video!
ya it does if only we could get a full cut of revenge of the sith deleted scenes and all but this will do they are canon to the movie just wasn't time to fit them in and had to focus on more important stuff
Truly…
“she lost the will to live” is almost at “somehow, Palpatine survived” levels of writing
@@Parochaouch, that's scathing. I'd disagree tho, broken heart syndrome is a real thing, and I think it hammers home to audiences that turning to the dark side destroys what you Love.

It’s not glory, it’s acknowledgment and respect.

Palpatine is essentially P. Diddy and Anakin is Usher or Justin Bieber.
That thing with padme also gives an entirely different meaning to: "you turned her against me." And: "You will not take her from me." It also gives him more and more reason to prove himself to padme. That he's worth more than obi wan.
even "because of Obi Wan?" part

The first dawn of light in your universe brings pain.
The light burns you. It will always burn you.
Never.
But you remember…
You remember all of it.
You remember the dragon that you brought Vader forth from your heart to slay. You remember the cold venom in Vader’s blood. You remember the furnace of Vader’s fury, and the black hatred of seizing her throat to silence her lying mouth…
And there is one blazing moment in which you finally understand that there was no dragon. That there was no Vader. That there was only you. Only Anakin Skywalker.
That it was all you. Is you.
Only you.
You did it.
You killed her.
You killed her because, finally, when you could have saved her, when you could have gone away with her, when you could have been thinking about her, you were thinking about yourself…
It is in this blazing moment that you finally understand the trap of the dark side, the final cruelty of the Sith -
Because now yourself is all you will ever have.
Because the shadow understands you, the shadow forgives you, the shadow gathers you unto itself-
And within your furnace heart, you burn in your own flame.

I don’t care how much longer the movie would’ve been, they shouldn’t have left out ANY of the deleted scenes
That adds so much to how he turned, it's a damn shame it was removed.
Pum pum makes men irrational but point taken. @@jjc5407
Now Anakin didn’t hear that interaction but from what I remember, it’s heavily implied that he understands at least to some degree that him and Satine had some kind of semi-romantic relationship in the past
Don’t get me wrong, I do wish the part about the knowledge in the Jedi archives was brought up in the movie as well. But the subplot about Palpatine manipulating Anakin into believing Obi-Wan is having an affair with Padmé definitely should’ve been included as well and makes his hatred of Obi-Wan make a lot more sense other than just all of a sudden
I see why they were cut, the audience is not supposed to have sympathy for his turning to the dark side.
Nah, you're just looking for something that isn't there
It explains the burning hatred in Anakin's eyes as he slides down the slope towards the lava. It's not just that he now believes with all his heart that the Jedi are evil, and that Obi Wan never truly believed in him, held him back, and just physically crippled him...
but that he also stole his one love--his wife. So dark :(
How was anyone so blind as to not see how important these dialogs are to the story?

@@scottjuhnke6825 the entire trilogy is the explanation, and literally every scene in RotS
But I do like the idea of Anakin having the visions on his own, due to his level of power, and Palps sensing and controlling things to his advantage that way (also connects to Luke's visions in the originals)

yes please! MORE SCENES OF SITTING AND/OR WALKING AND TALKING!
@@funkmasteryoda8323Adults likes the action scenes AND the story, Small children only care about lasers and light sabres.
100%, also Palpatine sticking up for Anakin and his abilities just further progressed Anikin’s trust in him.
Palpatine got to Anakin from a young and impressionable age, which, amongst other aspects of what he was doing, made him seem more trustworthy.
Kinda like how Mob boses have loyal mob lawyers! They be-friend them young and send them to college free!
Man Palpatine is such a cool villain
Leaving all this out was a mistake.
The scene with Anakin turning on Padme and Obi Wan made no sense to me before seeing this.
This kind of video makes you feel that you're watching the movie for the first time again, albeit just for a few seconds. Simply awesome.
Revenge of the Sith has always been my favorite but this context adds so much and solidifies it among the very best of the whole saga.
This adds so much more depth to their last fight
I had not heard about the part about Palpatine planting the ideas of Kenobi and Amidala before. It makes so much more sense on several levels. I so wish they would have left those in! Not only do we get more of Ian acting manipulative and evil which is very entertaining, and not only does it make several lines that anakin says make more sense but it makes Anakin's fall to the dark side feel more plausible.
The "manipulation" was so heavy handed that I sprained my eyes rolling them.
We need a fan cut. Lucas was the director and f’ed it up.
There needs to be a true 4 plus hour directors cut. RotS was meant to be an epic space tragedy
It it just amazing how just a few minutes, couple lines can really give ya more revelation and understanding of alot of the emotions w/ characters not understood.
I’m glad I found your channel
Thank you for this Star Wars Deleted Scenes.
I can't believed these scenes were deleted. They would have added so much to the story.
Can’t believe I’m just finding your channel now. Beautiful video with plenty of detail.
But these were in the movie, you couldn't have a 5 year-long lightsaber duel!
Plapatine's most famous line: Dew IT!
It was actually “Do it”. 😊
All of the stuff explained in this video should have been in the final cut of Revenge of the Sith. I heard that the film was originally supposed to be 4 hours long. I wish we would have gotten that cut because it would have been a lot better and tied so many things together. This is a great video. Keep up the awesome work.
They could've taken out the scenes on the Wookie planet. It didn't really add much to the overall plot
Well he is evil and there is an argument to be made that he is a child groomer
“We must all endure adjustments to the constitution in the name of security” I LOVE this line and it’s such a shame it was cut, because it’s probably the one line from the prequels that sells best just how easily democracy can be lost starting with the smallest sacrifices.
My next video this line will play a great importance. I have more scenes of Palpatine trying to consolidate power and amend the constitution
5:00 "In the most insidious way" to describe Darth Sidious...
Surely, the issue must lie in his own thinking.
is the novelization is a utter masterpiece
They are better than the Disney atrocities, but I have some issues with them. Especially Episode 3.
Its now a masterpiece thanks to the Disney trilogy
" My allegiance is to the republic to the democracy "
What a dissapointment jedi has become , instead of the force they still giving their hope to the corruption surrendered Republic , Qui Gonn Jinn turned upside down in his grave when hearing obi wan's words .
@@yagzguven8099 The galaxy would definitely have been in better hands if Anakin became emperor instead of Palpatine. If only Obi-Wan and Padme could have supported him better.
@@Boomblox5896 There are few things in life that will hurt a man more than finding his beloved pregnant wife has been cheating on him all along with the man he regards as mentor, friend and brother. Something crazy like 34% of kids who've taken a paternity test for Ancestry DNA or something like that, found out that daddy wasn't. Literally thousands of heartbreaking stories on the internet.
So, when you say you think the scenario of infidelity is a bit silly, what do you mean? This video was all about Palpatine whispering lies and insinuation into Anakin's ear, twisting him up into knots. Then Padme arrives with Obi ... and Anakin says his lines, and 8.11 where the fight choreographer states Anakin and Obi are fighting like 2 dudes where one cheated on the other.
Do you mean it's unbelievable, unconvincing, childish? Should have had a more compelling reason for Anakin's fall?
It's like saying; "you know, Adolf Hitler and Mussolini might have had a point", just because democracy might have occasional complications
Anakin knows f**k all about politics or how to rule anything. he is by far a more incompetent leader than Palpatine.
If that's not balance I don't know what it is.
the affair angle makes the final fight make so much more sense.
With the scenes we got, what we saw with Palpatine’s manipulation of Anakin was fine and well-made. Lucas wrote the story well.
That he did, that he did..
100% Such a more complex and interesting motivation. It's a shame it didn't make the cut!
Well... no.
It all makes sense now when he yells “ You cannot take her from me” 🤦🏿♂️. Damn
I have always felt the prequel trilogy was more about the origin of Palpatine than that of Vader.
Palpatine truly lived up to his sith moniker of "Sidious" which is a derivative of the word "insidious". Insidious means treacherous and crafty.
This makes the story much better. Thank you for letting us know.
I see you’re forgetting how he was ready to throw him away at a moments notice when trying to recruit Luke
@@EresirThe1st What? Of course not, he's still a Sith lord and he would look to trade-up if he could, no matter if he loved Vader or not.
@@EresirThe1st lmao wouldn´t that be like his grandson then?
Clearly forgetting anakin is the chosen one
Aka darth plagues
" kind of son" meaning Palpatine knew even crippled he still had the potential to be the strongest there ever was
He didnt loved him he saw him as a pawn to hes bigger plans and further advancing hes agendas! You clearly have no idea how people with cluster b disorders think! You are naive!
I like all three of these scenes. With that being said, there's NO WAY in hell a suave Obi-Wan is going to hit up pregnant-ass Padme for some afternoon delight
Between these and the clone wars show, Anakin becomes such a fleshed out good character
Palpatine truly understood that Anakin was emotionally ignorant and emotionally codependent, he knew that Anakin was easily attached to people and that Anakin had serious self worth issues when held at such high expectations but always falling short of being “the chosen one”
He knew Anakin was under allot of pressure and he was traumatized…
Palpatine exploited that weakness.
Knowing that the more trust issues Anakin would develop for himself and everyone else…
The more he would become drawn to the dark side of the force….
He probably sent those sand people to kill his mother…
He used the force to use Padme as a human sacrifice in order to save Anakin’s burned up body.
He deliberately sent Anakin to Mustafar knowing that Obi Wan was going to ultimately leave him for dead.
Palpatine could probe Anakin’s dreams giving him visions of pain loss and suffering like he did to what’s his face in the force awakens. Darth Vader Wannabe…
Kylo REN…
You have to remember…
Palpatine was so enforced with the dark side…
That he knew the ins and outs of everything and everyone enough to understand how to take full and complete control.
He even understood how to emotionally detach himself from morality so that he could shamelessly deceive people without even losing a wink of sleep.
Palpatine is a starwars depiction of the devil himself.
An accuser, a liar, a trader, a dictator, a subtle snake and absolute manipulator, a cowardice man who fought only for power, glory, control, and dominance…
And people who do these sorts of things…
Are consumed with fear.
And they trust nobody but themselves…
And they destroy anybody who gets in their way…
Total God Complex.
@@yagzguven8099 Very perceptive,
In order to manipulate someone to destroy themselves…
You have to set that person completely up against themselves and everybody against that person and truly isolate that person into thinking they are unloved because they aren’t good enough, the person would have to be religiously, spiritually, psychologically, verbally, emotionally, physically, financially, and sexually abused…. Until this person loses all hope and enthusiasm for life….
It takes allot of trauma to force someone to end their lives….
The person would have to feel so untrusting, so helplesss, overwhelmed, self concerned, and threatened, full of negative emotions, completely starved of compassion and a positive relationship, and damaged beyond repair…
Most people who commit suicide…
Suffer from ptsd….
It usually isn’t until a few decades later that the post trauma is so overwhelming that the victim loses all hope….
When they feel like their life is nothing but the worlds loss and broken dream and it’s all their fault and they brought everything on themselves…
They get to a point of toxic self preservation and coping mechanisms…
But they feel like ultimate failures in life.
When all hope is gone…
They lose all trust and they just want to end the suffering…
That mind set is a very very dark and cruel mind set….
Depending on how strong that persons will to live….
Will determine their chances of recovery…
I watched someone crumble and die like that…
It was a hard loss.
wow Anakin worrying that Obi wan smashed his wife is so much cooler and plausible than what we got, ik it would not have worked with clonewars and so on, but at least within the movies it woulda been so cool!
