That’s that weird thing he does with his arm where he withdraws it as his intercepting fist and moves the other hand forward. He’s trying to cover his injury because it’s hurting. Geddes capitalized on that and attacked that side relentlessly, whereas the other fellow martial artist he spars before this notices his injury and they both switch to a one-handed fight. Also in this movie, Ip Man is pushing like 60 or 70 years old and is also dying of cancer. He’s not nearly at his best in term of fighting ability in this movie.
One thing I don't understand, seems like the director try to direct us to believe that many people is state is racist & greedy during that time....I believe the director himself also a bigot himself....
Wrong, his simultaneous leg kicks that geddes does vibrates his arm and ip blocks it with his elbow. This kicks still hurt tremendously and he covers it by switching stance, similarly to when giddes gets an eye attack from ip. He changes stances from left to right to cover his now weakened spot. Fighters do this in mma and all factions of fighting.

the fact that ip man’s enemies kost of the time wears white and he wears black and some times him wearing white and his enemy black it resembles a kung fu energy like chi
At this point, ip man was old and suffer a cancer at the same time, that is why he is not as strong as he used to be, if this guys fight with the younger ip man, he won't even last a second
Hitting in the balls, altering the joints and chopping throat/eyes are three forbidden moves in martial arts. Normally when martial arts masters practicing or fighting they would not use them because martial arts are not killing people without proper reasons.
at the 3:25 or 3:27 moment when you froze the shot there i seen this thing with Scott Adkins the guy fighting him he actually said he kicked him in the throat here
Ignoring the fact that not even half the kicks that connected would result in severals broken ribs and a concussion even for young in shape athletes (YIP Mans upper body should be like a pudding) this was a good fight.
