For part 1: Remember that at this point in her life, Elphaba hasn't reached full Wicked Witch status yet. I expect that the more her life goes downhill in part 2, the more they'll ramp up her "wicked" side and they'll probably add on some Margaret Hamilton references, too.
You can’t compare the wicked witch you see in this film to the wicked witch you see in the Wizard of Oz. If you don’t know this story, it’s hard to understand that. You need to wait and see the second part before you compare her to Margaret Hamilton. You will understand why you’re so completely wrong here.😉
I saw the wizard of oz before the movie came out and I think it was definitely worth watching the wizard of oz because of all the references to the 1939 film
I beg to differ that Cynthia erivo should not be mentioned in the best actress category. I think her acting was brilliant in this movie as well as her singing! I definitely feel she deserves an Oscar nod for best supporting actress!
Great analysis on The Wicked Witch being one of the first on screen talking villains in cinema history, that gets overlooked a lot, but after thinking about it, I think you're completely right.
I wouldn't have seen Wicked live if it was $300 either! Saw it for about £40 sat all the way up the top when the Wicked tour went to Birmingham, England in 2018.
Pretty much this guy don't like anything at all 😂😂😂 He doesn't like musical in general, doesn't particularly liked Marvel, hasn't seen Crazy Rich Asians, and so on.. like bro, why u doin a review when u don't like anything at all 😂
There is a lot more art out there than musicals, Marvel, and Crazy Rich Asians lmfaoo Thank you for the comment though, I've never seen a great movie still waiting for one to come out!!
The first five seconds suggest that you’re approaching this review from a position of complete and abject ignorance (you were able to suggest that you didn’t like what the director previously did yet haven’t seen “crazy Rich Asians“?) - hard pass.
I explained I wasn't a big fan of In The Heights and why I missed most of his stuff, which is why I complimented him later on for how much of an upgrade this is. I do that with all of my reviews, give context on what I liked/didn't like from the director previously from what I have seen and my taste, to help make the point as to why Wicked works for people like me who didn't grow up listening to the soundtrack. Thanks for the comment buddy!

I did enjoy some of the Margaret references in part 1 like the bicycle scene. Can't wait to see Part 2
That’s kinda the whole point the idea that she wasn’t known or seen as wicked until they called her that
I felt the same way with the library scene. My jaw dropped seeing the dance choreography and the cinematography in the library.
I felt vertigo for a moment seeing that in 3D. Was astounding!!
Calling it Now You See Me 2 instead of Now You Don't was crime and I will remain on this hill for eternity.
ok?

First movie in a while where the theatre was crowded. Felt like the old days. Thought it was great ands had something for everyone!
The movie was incredible and the pacing was equally so! Didn’t feel like 2.5 hours at all!!!
Can’t wait to see it!! Excited 🙌 🍿
Yes! For Wicked it was very necessary to be split in two compared to dune part 1 that literally had me yawning

But shes elphaba, not quite yet wicked witch of the West in the first movie. She's a girl who's unsure of herself.

Right?!? Buhahahaaa "I've never been a Broadway guy..." Theatre without cameras vs Theatre WITH cameras. That's all it is. 😂

@@chaseazarian Who said there wasn't more out there than musicals? 🤔 You "never seen a great movie?" Thank you for the reply.

@ I appreciate your response (especially after my slightly exaggerated snarkiness) :-)
Witchcraft is of Satan and is never a good thing
I'd recommend Hereditary for you instead of this
I saw the "Wicked" yesterday in 3D. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful and you were right. The time pasted by like this 🤌
