This song is brilliant...I know this album, wasn't recieved as 90125, and it took Yes almost 4 yrs to make it.....I love this record. And this song is a hidden gem
One of their strongest and most underrated songs. This was one of the best they ever did. It became, in a very short time, one of my all time favorites.
@@dannygarza3272 If James Cameron had kept things cool with artist Roger Dean, this song could have been used as great trailer music for the Avatar sequels.
@@agcatdriver If torturing myself listening to hookless songs and epics with several minutes of clattering wankery is taste and appreciation, I'll be tasteless. Much prefer Love Will Find a Way and Close To The Edge, respectively.
Too bad we won't ever get any bands like this again. Yes will always be the most unique and incredible musicians for me. The thing they made were not songs, they were experiences
The song is split between 2 stories-the invasion of Nicaragua by the Sandinistas at the Blue Fields and Trevor Rabin driving down the California coast with his girlfriend and the relationship that is coming to an end, "in the blue sedan we didn't get much further'. a masterpiece in my humble opinion.
The year was 1987… Summer of my sophomore year. Flying down the highway in my 1980 Trans Am, T Tops off, my girlfriend in the passenger seat in cutoffs and a tank top, and THIS SONG blasting on the stereo… DAMN, what an incredible time to be young and alive!
I'm on a journey through Yes' catalog and I'm stuck on this song - it's beautiful. Alan White and Chris Squire, thank you for many years of magic. May you rest in peace.
this is easily one of the most underrated Yes songs. It is incredible and one of my favorites of their entire catalog. Absolutely epic. And Trevor and Jon really compliment each other well.
Big Generator is one of those Yes albums that grow on you, totally under rated. I had to play this 3 or 4 times before I could start to appreciate this whole album pretty much, simply awesome!!!!
Just the fact that this song is being talked about 26+ years after creation tells you how much we need more writing like this. This song is incredible. Alan White is one of the best.
Don't know if you had known about this, XYZ was a project that never got off the Ground. Featuring Jimmy Page, Chris Squire and Alan White m.ua-cam.com/video/ek6smE65LlI/v-deo.html
YES Deserves a Much Higher Ranking Than Even The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Could Ever (Give)Bestow To This Group !!!!!! They are on a Much Different Level Than Others in the Music Industry!!! They Are Completely Out of This World 🌎!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I bought this 'tape' new when it came out. Best part is when you've never heard any of the songs before and something like this hits you. I had to pick my jaw up when it was over.
I bought this album on cassette when it first came out. I was in junior high, at the time and I had the same reaction as you. This song still hits as hard, now, as it did then. Awesome tune.
I listened to this tune over and over in my small studio apartment in Albuquerque, New Mexico and pondered the insanity of war. Thanks to Yes for bringing focus to my thoughts.
Christmas Day 2020. I was so in the mood to hear this song. It's been a while since I've heard this classic. Loved it since It was released. From the second album of Yes's rebirth in my opinion. Rabins's guitar work is outstanding. Both of his Solos are something else but the first one on soft string classical is awesome. Also love the duet vocals with Jon. A very dreamy trippy classic Yes song!
I love to see all the positive comments about this legendary band...all the members included...glad they finally got inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of Fame...it was well and severly OVERDUE!
Another crazy good composition from a brave band that took so many risks, took musicianship seriously, and did it their way. When I saw them live in New Mexico I actually started crying when Rick Wakeman flew into his elongated, furious solo on Roundabout as Cris Squire thumped out his bass section, both jumping up and down together in time.
Im a prog nerd, and a metalhead, and though Yes are obviously amongst the masters and forefathers of this technical and deep music, I have to admit I kinda like their more "accessible" albums. There's still genius behind them, and they just hit ya in the feels. This album, and talk, etc, love em. Theyre just beautiful. These albums are like the soundtrack for gazing at the night sky and imagining all the wonder that life and the universe could hold, back when i still shone, when I was young...
Huge Yes fan, and best on this album, and one of my all-time faves! Trevor Rabin brought so much to them after Steve Howes' exit! The guitar on this is pure mastery!
Who would have thought back then that someday we’d be able to type the name of this song into our phones and instantly hear it for free. We can literally listen to any song that pops into our head…which this one did, and that’s why I’m here 😄
This is one of those songs that when you hear it for the first time it takes you to a place you’ve never been before and forever after you will always remember the emotional awe you felt each time you hear it again.
Yes is one of my favourite bands from 1970 onwards..... This piece is one of these highlights.....Great tunes!!!! Every time I play this masterpiece on this channel it gives me the shivers.
My first "job" in the Army was door gunner. This was always one of my favorite songs for calling up that mood of anticipation, of gliding, floating above the mundane, a prelude to the Gotterdammerung we would inevitably unleash.
Terry, that's interesting. Especially given that the meaning of the song (according to Jon Anderson) is about war; specifically, a future in which mankind will live beyond war. Being in that gunner position, floating, gives you a unique perspective on the song, on war, on life.
Strongest song... so strong that Neil Peart used ideas fro yes and several other conceptual lyrical bands to lyricise Rush's songs... and I ain't kidding you!
Having seen (much more HEARD every YES) album & concert...you can bet UR last $ these chaps had their creative minds on the pulse...every step of the way.
From a musical standpoint this collaboration was just on another plain. Big G is an Album I feel is a gem that I get to keep hidden and hoard all to myself and think how unlucky the rest of you suckers (I say that with love) are that you'll never know this kind of bliss in listening to music. Like Jeff Lynne of ELO John is a special sort of music god in that he can hear things that us mortals just can't! What a beautiful song!!!!
"Shall we lose ourselves for a reason Shall we burn ourselves for the answer Have we found the place that we're looking for Someone shouted "open the door" Lookout" Just gives me chills when I hear LOOKOUT! This song...very mysterious. One of the very best crafted songs of all time
One thing I'll say, as a lifelong yes fan, and a long life God bless, take a listen if you can to the concert at Jersey City NJ during the 70's. Some of the most amazing music ever even if Pat Moraz was on keyboards. Excellent.
Hello all, I'm new to 'yes' and have come here after falling down a you tube wormhole mostly driven by my love for porcupine tree 'anesthetize' and also bass playing by Nick Beggs.... I'm loving this! Where should I go next? ❤️🎸🎧

with every part of this song i see parts from a lot of ww2 movies i saw and see pictures of soldiers in fear, wanting to go home, chaos all around them. in pain. and i see leaders in stress. i thank all the soldiers that have freed europe from the nazi's
I keep an open mind. Even though I love the YES of the early progressive rock days I recognize quality and greatness even in different styles. This is an outstanding album!
This is an incredible song. A true masterpiece by Yes!!!
