Both franchise have their strong points. @@HS-jt2fl Yes but Saint row 2 is like 100 times better than the 3. Just look at all the fun cheat code in the 2, plus you can play with them in online coop. The 3 was such a downgrade compare to 2

Played this game solo twice when sr3 first came out, really enjoyed it. A friend and I bought the remaster recently to play coop and man its probably the most fun I had with a game in a while we're having a blast.
I haven't played Saints Row since 360. I bought this for 6 bucks for both my Series S and Series X. I'm amazed with the graphics and performance on both. 2 seconds in the game i knew the fps was not 30
One thing that bugged the heck out of me: The endless shifting. Seemed like cars in saints row 3 have 20+ gears. I really hope they fixed that, if not, well shiiit. 😭 I'll still buy it though cause man, this game looks gorgeous.
I love this game to death, loved the 2011 version, and have highly enjoyed the Remastered, tho I was confused to find they remastered this one rather than its predecessors 1 & 2 that SERIOUSLY need remastering. Getting back on track, I did enjoy this game, the highlights for me oddly were the new design of the STAG soldiers, they look cooler in their new armor, also the weapon texture and design have improved greatly that I am blown away, specifically the Rocket launcher that looks more like a modified RPG and the Pistols, it looks all great. I agree highly with this video on all the topics it brings up, but the downside for me of this remastered version, as highlighted, is that not all characters came out looking great, Oleg was one I found disappointing as the remastered look did neither Josh, Oleg, or many other characters in the game, not to mention the lip-syncing was bad, also I found several glitches with the Radio, as one may listen to The Blood Station and find no music when Adult Swim station is playing The Blood station music lol. But Overall I cannot be mad at this remastered version, I highly enjoyed the Remastered game as I was able to show someone else the game who was not a fan of the 2011 one, but enjoyed the remasted version, I agree with this video in every aspect, thank you for this video.
Yes, that was a big disappointment. A missed chance to make the game better in every possible way. Also, they could have added back the removed/cut content before release, as first intended.

I like the improvements generally but why do most remaster alter lighting in a way that makes certain models/assets bland and objectively worse than before? It's apparent here on the purple jacket and many faces, also AC3 where faces were destroyed by the new lighting.
Yeah, that seems unlikely. First of all, SR2 came out just after GTA IV making the sales much lower making a less justifiable financial case for a remaster. Secondly, the game mechanics are way too dated. Even if it were on UE5 with life-like graphics, it'll still feel stiff and unintuitive unlike the incredibly fun game mechanics in The Third. Fun is where it's at and that'll translate to whatever the latest engine is. It'll just reflect poorly on the franchise and to the developers to release a game and have those nostalgia glasses removed. I'm just hoping for a brand new open-world IP.
@@nikolasferreira3247 I didn't say it was a bad game, or not fun. Any game more than a decade old has certain outdated features and design from the controls to the user interface and anything in between. If it's a remake, they should definitely smoothen the controls, tighten up the gunplay, streamline mission management, etc. without losing the classic aesthetic. No argument there.
Hear me out here, the cartoony character models in the OG Saints Row 3 are timeless. The remaster will age quicker just because of that. It removes some distinction.
God bless this game and its creators. In some ways its soo much better than GTA V. Definitely worth buying the remaster- this is the kind of game that lets you relax after a long day at work.
Solid remaster. Hopefully they do the 4th one as well since they can reuse a lot of the new assets. Still hoping for a 1/2 remake though, those were my favourites.
Theres no need because when it was released on PS4 and XBone it said "Saints Row IV: Re-elected" i dont know if you were aware and not to mention that game preatty much destroy the true identity of the franshise and when into the overexagerated Over the top action with super powers when Saint Row wasn't even about that, and of course the most generic story about fighting the aliens who are invading the world, that wasn't how saints row was.
they were planning on it but apparently saints row 2's source code or dev code was way too old to work with. They'd have to initially REMAKE it if anything but idk how long that'll take lol):
Its welcome that they remastered SR3, but it does feel like that were trying to go for the original CG Trailer aesthetic as opposed to the stylised cartoon aesthetic that was shared with SR2 and 1. Kind reminds me about fan ENB models. needless to say, the lighting is my favorite change.
There's no doubt that the remaster has some flaws, some of which I hope gets patched and or modded. Overall, the remaster is Steelport just as I remembered it and it's wonderful.
All the sound effects to guns sound nice in the remaster except for the minigun which is a direct downgrade to it’s original, and the aircraft and ground vehicle sounds are really good in the remastered.
Thank you for making this video. It did convince me that I really shouldn't spend money on the remaster but I do appreciate the work your put into making this in-depth comparison.
I mean to say they look the same, or there is no difference, or the difference is minimal. The person would have to be blind, or lying, the majority of the game is a “night and day” difference. But having said that, I wouldn’t go broke buying the remaster, if I already have the original. The OG is still good enough to pretend the remaster doesn’t exist.
@Sahil Husain My bad, but what I meant to say is I dislike remaster idea when it only refine some texture to be HD and changing UI for a bit modern looks. I need something like RE series, as if RE wasn't a remake but a remaster with better graphical approach and everything else.
I understand how difficult it would be, but I'm sure at least half of the SR fanbade would absolutely love a remaster of SR 1+2, especially after seeing how much effort went into this remaster
In a few cases I prefer the original, such as with some clothing textures. The sweater vest shown on the character creation screen, for instance, actually looks woven cloth and has a very different texture in the original. In the remastered version the visuals are definitely sharper, but the sweater vest looks like it's made out of the same material as the rest of the clothes. That said, the skin textures definitely look better in the remastered version, although I think I like the eyes better in the original. Sure, they look a little too pronounced, but in the remastered version they almost look dull and lifeless. Lighting and poly count is, without a doubt, much better in the remastered version. No contest there.

Mafia 2 does indeed look good, but it is older and you would have expected a much larger overhaul compared to Saints Row the Third which is much newer.
Saints Row The Third has indeed received an much more impressive and surprising overhaul, especially considering its age, very unexpected that they went so far with its remaster actually. Unexpected and impressive indeed.
I saw a thumbnail a bit ago from someone else who made a comparison of this game, and I was like "no thanks, I'd rather wait for Nick" then here it is shortly after! Keep it up Nick, love your content!!

IM SO HAPPY THAT YOU UPLOADED THIS
I bought this instead of the new saints row just so I could play saints row again, I’ve played the game so so many times and I love it sm
Why not remaster the 2nd one though?? That was arguably the best one in the series!
I think they’ve said before that sr2 has really old code that’s difficult to work with, so they can’t remaster it easily like they could 3. Maybe they’ll do a remake though.
I think they do not have access to the original files. It would have to be built from the ground up. Who knows their next game might be a full on SR1/2 remake.
Remember SR2 was made by THQ, which shut down, meaning the new developers wouldn't have access
@@notthespaghetti1997 No SR2 was made by Volition, like every other Saints Row game. THQ was the publisher.
When THQ went bankrupt, Deep Silver bought the Saints Row franchise and published Saints Row 4 under their name.
Now the Saints Row franchise has been bought from Deep Silver by THQ Nordic, which is a publisher that largely consists out of THQ assets.
@Conn Benn You'd be surprised how many people would disagree and think 3 or even 4 is better.
I really like the remaster and I wanted for some while to replay this game and the remaster was the perfect occasion to do so. The game is as fun as ever but better than before. The one thing I don't like with the game though is that the night is really too dark in my opinion, especially when you go out of downtown. Also, I feel like the day/night cycle is a bit off, I've got the impression that the game is almost never at day but I don't know if it's the case for everyone.
Fran2002 this game has a day cycle??
Yeah I’d say 80% percent of the time I play it’s night time lol
I agree, even if I turn my brightness all the way up, which I don’t like doing. Night is so incredibly dark.
Lol, ikr - there have been countless times that i've ended up running myself over with the RC Possessor because it was too dark
THIS is what the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition should have been! Rockstar and Grove Street Games needs to take notes. THIS is what a Definitive Edition is supposed to be, not that GTA Trilogy Defective The Sims, Roblox, Fortnite looking ass Edition!!
I was looking for this video and realized you uploaded it 12 seconds ago xD
I haven’t played this game but goddamn the remastered looks amazing
lol you should try this game and you will find out Gta is a boring overrated sh*t xD
@@HS-jt2fl both games are very different tho.... Yes saints row is more fun and goofy... But gta has a better story line, characters (some) , and even missions (heists and stuff) both are great games.
Plz play it, it's such a fun and charming time. I really hope they make a 5th installment.
Both franchise have their strong points. While GTA is leaning more on the immersive, realistic side, like a crime drama, with great serious plot, Saints Row leaning more toward fun and ridiculous over-the-top action and activities, with decent street gang story, light-hearted with sprinkle of serious, heated moments.
@@HS-jt2fl Yes but Saint row 2 is like 100 times better than the 3. Just look at all the fun cheat code in the 2, plus you can play with them in online coop. The 3 was such a downgrade compare to 2

I am so happy, this is one of my favorite games and they remastered it perfectly
The characters models are looking way too different, I'd prefer the original version in that regard. But the environment part is looking good, especially the light and textures.
@Frank dms i prefer the cartoony art style. so much more unqiue and has alot more flavor.
Soviet Marmalade it looks tasteless though
Nutshellin 2020 ?
Soviet Marmalade as a person who is a fan of the game when it first came out I think the remastered looks much better I never had somthing against the cartoony look but I always thought it would look better as more real life looking people so I think it's better
Supreme Leader Ren that’s fair. Everyone’s got preferences.
Played this game solo twice when sr3 first came out, really enjoyed it. A friend and I bought the remaster recently to play coop and man its probably the most fun I had with a game in a while we're having a blast.
Apart from the minigun, everything is perfect. Really impressed. I always wore the special investigator jacket and never realised that it was leather.

Indeed, hair has been reworked too 😏

I haven't played Saints Row since 360. I bought this for 6 bucks for both my Series S and Series X. I'm amazed with the graphics and performance on both. 2 seconds in the game i knew the fps was not 30
One thing that bugged the heck out of me: The endless shifting. Seemed like cars in saints row 3 have 20+ gears.
I really hope they fixed that, if not, well shiiit. 😭
I'll still buy it though cause man, this game looks gorgeous.
I dunno, bro. I counted 8 distinct shifts in the remastered footage in this video... :/

Nick930 keeping my lockdown entertaining. I absolutely love these Direct Comparison videos
I will tell my kids this was cyberpunk 2077
It makes sense that they would remaster this game first, especially being that the original version had so much potential.
Or is it cuz SR and 2 didn't release at first on PC,and with no source code, it could take longer than 3 to remaster
This remaster puts the mafia 2 remaster to bed 🛌
Yes, that was a big disappointment.
A missed chance to make the game better in every possible way.
Also, they could have added back the removed/cut content before release, as first intended.
No mafia 2 is free for PC(Steam) only, if you had the game previously. I played it on my PS3 back in 2010, and bought it again for my PS4 Pro.

I have the feeling they are going to use this remaster to gauge the desire for a fifth game.
But they said last year they are working on a new saints row game....
Actually probably trying to judge if they should remaster SR2, which they probably don't want to do & remind people that they jumped the shark with the series.
@@RtistiqSkubie Three wasn't that insane but two was better in many ways most notably the outfits you could do in 2 blows the shitty clothing system in 3/4 out of the water easy. If they did remaster or remake 2 with the same good old clothing system they'd print money I think.

Nick puts out fantastic work, so I fully agree with you. He is working hard as heck and is delivering some fantastic content. I really do want to see his channel thrive as it should.
Imagine this:
Remaster textures, meshes and shadows w/ the original's character models and hair, lighting and tone.
Now this is a company that cares for their remasters.
This is such a high-quality remasterpiece
they just had to remaster sr 1 & 2 like this and they would have made alot of money, instead doing the reboot and go bankrupt
I like the improvements generally but why do most remaster alter lighting in a way that makes certain models/assets bland and objectively worse than before? It's apparent here on the purple jacket and many faces, also AC3 where faces were destroyed by the new lighting.
I see it like that too. Plus honestly i prefer the mood of the old lighting
This remaster is gonna be good I hope they can do one on saints row 2
Yeah, that seems unlikely. First of all, SR2 came out just after GTA IV making the sales much lower making a less justifiable financial case for a remaster. Secondly, the game mechanics are way too dated. Even if it were on UE5 with life-like graphics, it'll still feel stiff and unintuitive unlike the incredibly fun game mechanics in The Third. Fun is where it's at and that'll translate to whatever the latest engine is. It'll just reflect poorly on the franchise and to the developers to release a game and have those nostalgia glasses removed. I'm just hoping for a brand new open-world IP.
markel murray saints row 2 needs a remake not a remaster.
@@HaIsKuL saints row 2 is considered the best in the series by many fans, they have to at least fix the pc port

This and Resident Evil series are what a "remaster" should be.
And tony hawk pro skater
@Sahil Husain My bad, but what I meant to say is I dislike remaster idea when it only refine some texture to be HD and changing UI for a bit modern looks. I need something like RE series, as if RE wasn't a remake but a remaster with better graphical approach and everything else.
I understand how difficult it would be, but I'm sure at least half of the SR fanbade would absolutely love a remaster of SR 1+2, especially after seeing how much effort went into this remaster
@Kinguim yeah in hindsight I probably wouldn't have left this comment if I knew what was going to happen
Ngl they look surprisingly realistic, excited to try this out, even though I’m a little late
