I’ve always loved this style. I just don’t know exactly how to make it look good on me. I have thicke legs and slanted shoulders that are slightly buff...
Hey I was wondering if you would think about doing a video focused dramatic classics. I love your videos and would be curious as to what you would say.
my friends call me basic for having this aesthetic but i literally cannot handle looking "loud" and I think it's because I'm a tall woman and have always commanded attention walking in a room without even having to speak...so I don't feel the need to dress in such a way that gets me noticed even more if you feel me.
I've heard the same thing throughout my life -- I know what I'm comfortable in and I assume you do, too. Conservative, good taste makes a better first impression than some fad. Plus, it's the closest thing to armor that a woman can wear outside a Renaissance fair ... Lol.
I've been going minimalist chic for over 4 years now and the best thing about it is no more impulsive buying. I love every piece in my wardrobe and dressing up in the morning is alot easier now. Plus i look chic everyday.
I like this aesthetic but as a Bright Winter the typical muted colour palette is a NO! I take the pure black, white, and silver neutrals, plus my best bright fuschia, cobalt, navy and crimson to keep it cohesive and minimal but still contrasted enough to flatter me. NEVER sacrifice your personal best colours (or lines!) for a trend or prepackaged "look" - your most authentic and flattering elements will ALWAYS make you look your best!
Agreed. I don’t look great in black. It ages me. I look best in very bright neon colors, lots of light airy movement fabrics, patterns (stripes, polka dots).... on a more conservative day I wear head to toe ivory/cream..... if you see me in all black or grey- I’m typically in a very fierce mood lol
This! I had a white tennis skirts and pastel everything phase when I was younger. No matter how much I tried, as a Deep Winter (as I later found out) I looked terrrriblee
@@vivivivi8215 Personally I had my colours "done" by an expert, it's definitely the best way but can be expensive. I volunteered to be a model while she was teaching a course so my consultation was free, though! You can Google "personal color analysis self drape" to learn more about how to test yourself, but once you know the theory behind it you can usually narrow your palette down to two or three seasons without being sure. (I.e. I knew I was a Winter before I was draped as Bright Winter, or you might know you're definitely a Dark Winter or Dark Autumn.) The colours are close, so it's still a great base point.

@@honjabee There are many vids for it, just search for it, basically, if you have hips wider than your shoulders you are a pear, and if you have shoulders wider than your hips you are a inverted triangle, if you have an hourglass type shape, you are a hourglass.
You also need to consider that until a decade or two ago there wasn't this need for fast fashion, people didn't feel the need to own one in every color. So I would say the minimalist is really only a "thing" now as the reaction to the overconsumption and attitude of the past few decades. It is a direct reaction to humans killing the planet and each other in search of the perfect Friday night outfit...every Thursday.
I love this aesthetic because I feel like a simple yet kinda serious and elegant person. I dont like to use bright colors that will bring the attention to me foe beign "extra". Being practical, sophisticated, and simple
This was so perfect, I've been struggling to have a classic and elegant look while still honoring my flamboyant gamine lines. I think we all need a reminder from time to time that we don't have to follow all the guidelines at once. We can make a look work for us by incorporating 2 or 3 of Kibbe's suggestions. Colorblocking + structure + boxyness on top or bottom is enough. I don't have to add bright colors, busy geometric patterns and millions of accessories on top of it.
this is a really goodformat...with you talking on the side...and then a constant flash of pictures to showcase what you are talking about on the other side
I am SO GLAD that I found your channel. This style type is so me. I had been searching for my style type and could not find it...until your channel popped up! New subbie and I am going to watch more videos now. Thanks and blessings!!!!
This look, which I found I loved and was comfortable wearing, is why I decided that I must fit Kibbe's Natural. I did find a site (not Kibbe) whose description of minimalist classic was a spot I could slot into. I also include denim, ice blue and loden/olive into my color selection. I liked "Moody Mountain" primarily because of the colors. I LOVE this. Love, love, love!
This is so easy to understand and well put together! I feel like I really understand something that seemed so much like an enigma to me before. I could tell the effect that these kinds of clothes gave off, but I couldn't pinpoint how to achieve it. Thank you so much!!
OH MY GOSH! Best video out there and so helpful! This is EXACTLY the aesthetic I have been going for but it has been hard for me to find the right words and vocabulary, and also focusing on my yin as I am an ingenue. This was amazing. Thank you SO much!
Great video...I'm impressed. I like learning how to incorporate the elements but for my body type. I agree with the other comments about adding color if your "season" calls for it. Otherwise the minimalist classic look seems boring on me. Would love to see more of these kinds of videos on how to adapt the look for your body type. Thank you!
Love this! So many inspiring examples, and love your practical advice on how many body type can adapt this style rather than sticking to the stereotypical styles for their Kibbe type.
As a soft classic I am all about minimalism and chic but as a winter with a big personality I love to add bright colors to navy and dark gray. I envy women who can pull off camel colored coats but that is not me.
Yes! This is the best video "formula". I love your previous aesthetic vids, but adding the recommendations for the types.. That's brilliant! Thank you very much, keep going :))
I have these looks pinned on Pinterest- they look sleek and sophisticated... however- when I try this outfit on i feel Way too formal and stiff, and structured. It doesn’t feel like me :( I always feel like I hve to be so serious and professional And proper. I’m way too playful and informal for it
That feeling is EXACTLY what got me into body types. The environment convinced me I should dress more like a dramatic or more like a romantic. And that we should all strive to look taller, slimmer hourglass Turned out I'm a gamine
I really like it, how you break things down. I would add: patterns can be simple polka dots or stripes too. They have to be regular and not busy at all. My problem with this hyped look - the minimalistic look - is the simplicity. I like more playful looks. Sometimes, for a change, I like to wear minimalistic looks too, but only if they are tending towards elegant and modern. For example the outfit Julia Roberts is wearing in your video is so boring and shiftless in my opinion.
Same... Thus I wish I was something other than a dramatic classic especially because I am quite short and minimalistic look isn't my thing unless I am going for a formal look
sia sia I am a dramatic classic and I find a classy twist on the rocker chic style allows me a lot of interest while still keeping things dramatic classic 💕
Hi, Elyssa, I've recently discovered your channel, I believe your work and your advice are incredible! Now I know I am a true classic, I've seen all your videos on this body type and they were great, this really is the way I prefer to dress. Like you, I used to buy stuff I saw my friends wearing, much more colorful, fluffy and dramatic, but they never worked for me, I love the straight lines, the simplicity and the one-color outfits. Thank you for everything, I'll be watching you closely! Hugs from Romania! Anda
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE WAY YOU PUT MY STYLE INTO WORDS!! 😆😆 you have no idea how excited I am!! People always ask me my style but I’ve never been able to truly explain it!! Thank youuu
Fantastic! I love this format. Your videos are so well-researched, and so well explained. I love that you use so many pictures, and appreciate so much the way you both explain the aesthetic, AND explain how to apply it to different frames. Question: keeping all other things constant (relaxed but elegant lines, minimal detail, focus on quality) but including more (still monochromatic) color still be included in this aesthetic, or Would that be a different aesthetic? Looking forward to more of these videos!
In my opinion it’d be a riff on this aesthetic. I think this with anything you can make it more yin leaning and yang leaning and colors would have an impact on that. So lighter more pastel colors would swing it more yin and grounded, rich colors would swing it more yang. It’s all very malleable💛
Great video! Definitely informative! I so want to dress this way but am stuck with my love of color and pattern! Simple and chic leaves me feeling I am missing something in my outfit, but I also think it is incredibly beautiful and classic! I think I will try harder to incorporate this style because it looks amazing! I have a lot of basics I can incorporate with other basics and I will just have to resist a patterned blouse and a colorfully designed sweater! Love the look...THANKS!!!
Thanks so much for yet another very informative video! You have put in so much work and effort in selecting images that illustrate the point you want to make. I also like the way you show how different body types can interpret this style, and I'd definitely like to see more like this.

YES YES YES!!! I honestly feel that we’re moving in this direction.....personal style over fashion. People are over it.....I think we’re all leaning into prioritizing expressing ourselves in the 2020s ✨
The color palette I have for my capsule wardrobe is: black, white, cream/beige, brown, navy, burgundy and blush pink with few patterns: stripes (classic black and white striped tee), florals (floral blouse), dots (black and white polka dot dress) and plaid (brown plaid blazer) Not sure I could have a wardrobe with no color and no pattern 😅
Thank you your video, I always don't know how to have classic outfit and headache when go out whithout uniform. Problem I have a lot color in my wardrobe.

The color palette I have for my capsule wardrobe is: black, white, cream/beige, brown, navy, burgundy and blush pink with few patterns: stripes (classic black and white striped tee), florals (floral blouse), dots (black and white polka dot dress) and plaid (brown plaid blazer)
Not sure I could have a wardrobe with no color and no pattern 😅
So helpful ~ love this matching style to a body type.

That’s my aesthetic most of the time.😊Thank you for covering it! 💛
I love this aesthetic! Even if I am not sure if I am soft natural or soft classic, this aesthetic goes well with both types. 😀❤️
