    The three things that always help me are:
    1) My inspiration board on Pinterest.
    2) Watching sketchbook tours. (Probably the best one)
    3) Listening to music.

    I have not been drawing for a week. I have the problem where i struggle to be satisfied with anything i make. My biggest insecurity is my skills. I go to e very good artschool and get positive reviews always from my teachers. But when i get home i'm just never happy with anything i draw or paint. I am also very impatient wich sucks. If it does not work out the first hour i throw it away. I can be patient But only on big projects. Projects that lasts for days. Only then i love art. But i would like to make smaller artpieces. But it always looks like sketches because i only spend like two hours on them.

      eline skjaeringrud try to see all the meaning in every piece you create. Think of "why do i want to create this?" and keep that reason in mind as you work. And what purpose will my art serve.

    My problem is I have my priorities in school work but I'm procrastinating school work so I skip both art and school work and find myself doing useless stuff that doesn't feel useless like watching UA-cam or household chores.

      Phương Nhâm what do you mean there's no way to draw properly... and copying other drawings...? Maybe look at pictures to draw I think Pinterest is really good for ideas

    • @andreasbraess3759
      @andreasbraess3759 7 років тому +2

      David yes right but for beginners It help if look first step by step Tutorials, that they know where to start. But you should do it from persons who dow it in same way other wise you can get confused.
      Phương Nhâm I thinks she had already such on her channel you have only to roll black very far.
      Copy other drawing other drawing is not bad if you do it with the intent learn from it. that is what called learning form old Masters. But do it only for learning.

      When I say ''copy'', I mean that I cannot draw on my own with my style ( maybe I haven't found my own style yet) For eg: I love a character in a anime or animation so I want draw him/her . I google his/her photos then draw exactly the same. I don't want to do that anymore. Sorry for my bad english

      Well, even I copied art from other artists like Artistiq and Heather Rooney. It actually helped me learn. I just never posted it online saying it's my idea or art. Whenever I posted it I made sure to give credit to the real Artist.
      So there's nothing wrong in copying art.
      But yeah Art block really sucks, especially when you are a Portrait Artist. I rarely draw surroundings or nature. But I do have a trick to outcome of Art block (when you don't have motivation to draw or not feeling like drawing). Just watch UA-cam Art videos, watxh them draw thing, beautiful, good, masterpieces. Watch the Videos. Works every damn time for me 😂

    Thank you so much for making this video! I frequently get modellers block (and have written articles on the subject). For me I think a good portion of my problem are the huge number of distractions in my every day life. My workshop if my only real escape and I frequently find myself sitting there looking at the project but I am so exhausted either mentally or physically that I can't bring myself to pick up the tools.

    I found that doing fanart pieces is a great way to keep going on the less creative days and also to relax between client's work. I don't have to think what I want to draw, I just sketch something from the last movie I've seen (always watching something when working on projects) and it sparks some creativity. Works every time for me.

    Haha, the video looked so good! 😄
    Although I get some other "forms" of art block, what I get 95% of the time is "I have ideas but I don't feel like drawing". OMG, I hate that soo much!! It's like "I have this awesome idea and I really can't wait to put it to paper-I really want to draw it out but I don't feel like draaawing!! ;-; ". 😂 It's like reader's block, "I want to know what this book is about and if it's any good but I don't feel like reading and I just want to have read it already and be done with it." In both cases it happens when I'm having a particularly hard time, so I guess that happens when you're stressed, exhausted, depressed, etc.-I want the conclusion of reading and drawing (having read the book, having a finished drawing), but I don't want to go through the process, which is usually the thing I enjoy most. And if try to draw then it looks 100% awful, like I don't know how to draw anymore, and no, I'm not imagining it, it truly looks bad, so I usually just wait it out instead of trying/forcing myself to draw. 😅
    And I already keep a list with drawing ideas, yay! 🙌

    I see artists pick out things they don't like about pieces and I just don't see what they don't like. Zyra, looking at your "failed attempts" on you Amber piece, would you mind doing a video on why you felt they weren't right? I see promise in each of those attempts.I'd love to see and hear your thoughts about your process and what you felt was not right about them.

    • @zyrabanez
      @zyrabanez  7 років тому

      I actually wanted to show my entire process from idea generation to final piece, but I didn't think people would be interested since it felt repetitive and a bit boring xD but perhaps in the future I'll have a more in depth look at my process (including failed attempts and everything not shown in my videos).
      Normally I consider something a failed attempt (especially with watercolours) is because I tend to overwork the piece early in the process. It can definitely be fixed, but it will no longer have the lightness that I want my watercolour pieces to be. It can also be easily be fixed with gouache, but once again gouache tends to look heavier because it's opaque and sometimes I don't like that if it's not supposed to look heavy.
      Other times it's the energy I feel when I'm painting. It's a little hard to explain because it's the moment where I can't exactly pin point what is wrong with it, but I just "feel" that it doesn't look right. This is also the hardest part of deciding to continue or to start again. When this is the case, I tend to scrap the piece and start again, but before actually starting again I spend lots of time trying to figure out what didn't work. That's why it can take me days to truly finish a piece, because there are days when I'm not drawing, but just analysing and examining the piece.

  • @BlackThornRose
    @BlackThornRose 7 років тому

    Thank you so much for sharing this, I think I needed to hear this be put into words. I recently tried to start drawing again after I stopped approx. 3 years ago. In that time I have deleted galleries, destroyed sketchbooks,and just become really destructive towards myself and any failed attempt of progress with my art. But now I find myself feeling rather anxious every time I try to put pencil to paper, so much that I'm close to tears. I feel I really need to take a step back and assess the reason to why I want to make art especially if it's this frustrating for me. I believe the same reason that's been preventing me now is the same one that was stopping me in the past: I'm overwhelmed by trying to do too much too soon. Especially since I'm just coming out of a 3-year dry spell. So I'm gonna take your advice and try to take care of myself and take things slow. There's no rush with me trying to improve my skills, likewise it's never too late to pick things up from where I last left off. My hope is to get back to my previous mindset where, as you said, I can make art simply because I enjoy the process of doing so.

    • @zyrabanez
      @zyrabanez  7 років тому

      yep. I like to take things slow as well (which can be frustrating knowing that other artists work fast and improve fast) but we all learn at a different pace :) All the best with your art

    If you even _have_ art block, that means you're not trusting your thoughts correctly. Sorry to say, but great artists know, if you want to do art, you'll have to trust in your own thoughts.
    This is because thoughts happen to be forms of truth. In fact, they must actually be considered as such in order for them to exist; cease doing so, and they'll cease to exist.

    What about you have ideas but you can’t draw them

    • @zyrabanez
      @zyrabanez  9 місяців тому

      Why can’t you draw them? If the reason is that you don’t think your skills are good enough to draw them, then the answer is to practice. Skills improve the more you use them. So practice until you’re confident enough to draw your ideas. You can also draw your ideas even if you don’t feel confident enough, and try drawing it again and again until you achieve your desired result. If the reason why you can’t draw your ideas is not the above, I’m not sure I can be of any help 😅

  • @monty7044

    I believe artist or writers block doesn't exist. Its a mental excuse for you just not to do it. Even if you have to draw goddamm circles and squares on your paper, *DO IT* Because you like art right? you like to draw, right? If you're saying "Poor me I have artists block" then you're not gonna learn and you're not gonna get shit done.
