More than 4 - he also forced a change to the backcourt foul rule so people wouldn't chase him around the court when he didn't even have the ball to foul him. I think there was one more beyond that.
Thanks for this video. I always wondered about this. What rules did the nba adopt for other players? I only know of the Charles Barkley rule. No more backing up your defender with your back to the hoop.
George Mikan - Defensive Goaltending, Widening of the lane from 6' to 12' (it's called the KEY for a reason, even though it doesn't LOOK like a key any more, it used to), at least one other I'm not remembering right at the moment. There's a "Bird rights" rule but that's about being able to resign a player without penalty even when it puts you over the cap and not about on-court play. There's a STRONG opinion the Bill Laimbeer was the primary cause for the Flagrant Foul rule finally growing teeth after the 1990 Finals, but that was somewhat a collectively caused rule change with Bill and his dirty play just being *A* primary cause. In college, the several year long ban on dunks due to Kareem. The "Reggie" rule that James Harden got away with ignoring for a couple years - can't "kick out your leg while shooting" so far it enters the defensive players established "cylinder of position", was called a defensive foul before that rule was established to make it an OFFENSIVE foul. There have been others - that's just off the top of my head.
The one study done of his available footage where it existed for an entire game at a time (112 samples) showed him averaging 8.8 He MIGHT have averaged a triple double in a couple seasons on points, rebounds, and blocks.
Those are petty changes, and funny he could not dominate after that haha look at the size of him no longer dominating after those rule changes. Were there bad boys pistons type of defenders in his day? No! So those rule changes, minus the flagrant fouls, were the same applied on Jordan, and yet Jordan dominated, and then this tall clown had the audacity to say the NBA made the rules easy for Jordan? Out of here.
Ah. So Wilt was never that impressive. People keep being up his unbreakable stats but fail to mention that you can't do half the things he does on the court now.
Are you kidding me. Today they allow anything on the court. It's ridiculous. You can walk. Wilt would destroy the current NBA. He averaged 45 minutes per game for his career in a faster paced game.
@@wpl8275 Not that you can walk - but you can take up to 4 LEGAL steps, vs 1 AND MUCH TIGHTER ENFORCEMENT in his era. 2009 rule change that allowed "2 steps PLUS up to 2 "gather" steps", where the "gather" had not existed before that.
NO. He was the greatest basketball player of all time. If not for the handcuffing he would have won 10 championships and averaged 75 a game. Your saying it as if they didn’t change these rules until after they retired. They were changed very very early in his career. He achieved all the records with the current rule sets.
He was 7 foot 7
He ran 4.2 40 yard dash
He benched 700 lbs
He had a 57 inch vertical leap
The most influential player ever
The biggest liar ever who played against 5 foot bums who could bearly dribble. OVERRATED
How he isnt in the GOAT conversations is crazy, no other player uaf the NBA change the game because of 1 man

this is hilarious, i can just imagine like 2 players sprint full force and trying to trap Wilt 🤣
@@arielaltairch Only needed one to foul him in the backcourt.
The widening of the lane from 6 to 12 feet because of Mikan happened in 1951, not 1944. 1944 was simply the Defensive Goaltending rule.
Sign of greatness in any sport when they change the rules to stop you dominating.

I wish they counted blocks definitely would average a triple double !

Dunking a free throw is crazy
They missed one more!
THERE IS NOBODY I LOVE MORE THAN GEORGE ICEMAN GERVIN BUT DON'T EVER MENTION ANYONE IN THE SAME BREATH AS WILT CHAMBERLAIN
When Wilt entered the league is when they should’ve moved the rim to 11 feet
C Goat
This will be Wemby

To change an entire sport based on one person’s play seems pretty impressive
