  • PLZ READ ! i actually wrote this in 2017 just after trump was elected which is why it's so hopeless lol
r we all just SHOUTING AT EACH OTHER CAN REAL CHANGE HAPPEN yis is twitter still also a hell hole yis but is it also a great place for sharing information about global issues and causing change yis is trump the worst definitely

here I am just another shout into the dark
You would think, we'd be loud enough, to cause a spark
but half the world cover their ears and cry
So we're screaming at no one
    Screaming at no one
    mmmmm
raise your arms raise your voice no one wants what we'll get
we're all scared here, with the future that's set
we will not stand still and watch it burn
But we're dancing for no one
    Dancing for no one
    the higher we build
    the harder to see
    paint over your strokes
and the ink will just bleed
    please open your mind
    we beg from a screen
    what do I do
    what do we do
    Nothing we can do
tell me now, I am begging tell me are we okay?
I will write, I will craft, watch me work through the pain
not much to do but smile too hard
but I’m laughing with no one
    laughing with no one
    the higher we build
    the harder to see
    paint over your strokes
and the ink will just bleed
    please open your mind
    we sob from a screen
    the higher we build
    the harder to see
    People only believe
    What they need to believe
    please open your mind
    we sob from a screen
    what do I do
    what do we do
    Nothing we can do
(there must be something we can dooooo)

Still a bunch of buildings covered in that flammable crap, too. "Well There's Your Problem" did a good deconstruction of what happened & why, what the engineering faults were & how they came about. It was pretty excruciating to watch but 100% on the money, every policy failure, coming from every bit of bigotry the council had towards the tenants, and the penny-pinching for honestly no good reason, like "Maybe Kensington were saving to have their own airforce..." It's full of gallows humour like that because honestly otherwise they'd just scream.

@@graceprice3292 Hey!! So the guitar is doing the same picking pattern as before (so still in 4/4) and the vocals over the top are in groups of 3! This sorta thing is called a hemiola in music theory- where you put groups that feel like they're in different time signatures over each other. So the "what do I do" section is repeated 3 times (27 beats but as 9 bars) whilst the picking pattern ends up being repeated 2 times in this case (32 beats- 8 bars)… the last 5 beats of picking are played with no vocals though... let me know if this makes any sense bc I'm not sure if it does haha and I can try to explain it better if not x

Updated on information? Isn't that what we should be able to trust the news for?
Twitter is full of specific cells of people, none of them honest, and a much smaller population of people who came to it before it became the breeding ground of nightmares it is today.
There are other ways to stay informed, but the truth is, we do not need most of the information on social media or the news...but they want you to believe you do. Yet, it always seems to be the bad stuff...the stuff that makes the most money due to clicks and impressions.
Sad times. The few people I personally know who have disconnected are far happier, and still keep up with the actually important details. Maybe I should go to not having any of them...

By far, Twitter is one of the worst ways to get reliable information. But, it does help me get me to the good information, if that makes sense.
Currently I’ve deleted twitter and been mostly staying off social media (besides UA-cam) so I do agree with you that being disconnected makes people a lot more happier. Also, I’m not going on twitter for a very long time.

Thank you dodie. You turn a phrase from some words that none of us here can voice and spin it into a melody in such an elegant tone, with voiceless yet unbroken intention behind every note. I hope that one day I can have even half the courage that you do to string together some words so that I too can make a difference and weave my own story for those who cannot speak theirs.

This feels like an anthem to apathy and surrender, and sometimes that's what feels safe. But I don't think it's the right move right now, or the right message. I appreciated the sound and the beautiful lyrics, but the last thing we need is complacency.
That said, you captured the feelings of the youth fairly well; we're all scared that our actions won't bring lasting change because the people in power just casually want us all to die lmao

Chilling / charming - your song may be inspired by Twitter, dodie, but I think it is timeless. We have all felt helpless in the shadow of a future that may not come about. When I was young and scared, we were hiding under tables and sure of nuclear war. Freedom from fear is what we must strive for. If we can do anything, if we can change anything for the better, it must start with us, with the ones we love, the ones we can reach, the ones we can meet. Be Hope. This is a hauntingly beautiful song, and "what can I do?" can be the seed for great things. Thank you so much for writing this.

youre standing over a cliff as the sun sets, with the orange and yellow hues painted across the land. you see ashes, you see fire, you see war. there eas nothing but back to back tsunami to earthquakes, strange pest infestations, and youve just came out of quarantine.
    you check your watch.

Man, the arrangements are so little and yet the songs are always very rich. The guitar is soft behind, the lyrics are simple, the voice is just on point, where it should be, the softness at the right time, the harmonies. It's soft and beautiful, powerfull even.

lyrics to this beautiful yet ominous song- Here I am just another shout into the dark
You would think, we'd be loud enough, to cause a spark
But half the world cover their ears and cry
So we're screaming at no one
    Screaming at no one
    Mmmmm
Raise your arms raise your voice no one wants what we'll get
We're all scared here, with the future that's set
We will not stand still and watch it burn
But we're dancing for no one
    Dancing for no one
    The higher we build
    The harder to see
    Paint over your strokes
And the ink will just bleed
    Please open your mind
    We beg from a screen
    What do I do
    What do we do
    Nothing we can do
Tell me now, I am begging tell me are we okay?
I will write, I will craft, watch me work through the pain
Not much to do but smile too hard
But I'm laughing with no one
    Laughing with no one
    The higher we build
    The harder to see
    Paint over your strokes
And the ink will just bleed
    Please open your mind
    We sob from a screen
    The higher we build
    The harder to see
    People only believe
    What they need to believe
    Please open your mind
    We sob from a screen
    What do I do
    What do we do
    Nothing we can do
(There must be something we can do)

Though I appreciate passion and anger at issues, I do want people to remember that change happens slowly. It is reasonable, justified, and encouraged, to get angry at stagnation in regards to progress. You are allowed to- and most definitely SHOULD be angry at the issues plaguing our world. That anger can be used to fuel ambition, hard work, and therefore change. However, this frustration could also grow to grim acceptance of this stagnation. It could grow to a loss of hope. A cynical and defeated view of the world. I do not believe we can lose hope. Not with the way things are right now. History has shown us that change occurs over long periods of time, with downfalls and uprises. Fluctuating paths of progress are normal.
As our world advances, large scale change is made comparatively quicker than before, but it still feels long to us. Though it is tragic to witness injustice, I beg you to take a step back, and to not lose hope. Use your emotion and justified anger to fight for change, and continuously work and do whatever you can to fix the way things are. That will help. And even though sometimes it may feel like all of that work is amounting to nothing, trust me, keep going and do not lose hope. I am a firm believer that hope is required in order for change to occur. Without the faith that things will get better, nobody will even try.
There is something we can do, and we will have to work through this and continue to work until things start happening. Don’t give up on this. We can’t afford to give up on this. Stay safe and stay strong y’all ❤️❤️

everyone on twitter is just trying to make a change and it's so painful when we shout so loud but it's all behind glass, behind a screen. and we go out to protests and sign petitions and try to break that barrier, but they still lock us in, make us out to be the bad ones. we will be the ones with sharp pains in our feet, once we shatter that glass and it lands on the floor. but it's worth it, because they will be forced to hear our pleas. they will have nothing to hide behind.

The way your voice is incredibly soft and smooth but your picking is frantic and steady, it gives off a feeling of panic and unease whilst being so relaxing at the same time which I feel is the emotion of social media.
