    Canadian here. This video brings back great memories of when I rode this tram from one end to the other five years ago, It was a fantastic experience trundling through resort towns and alongside the beaches and dunes.

    Nice video ! Actually there are 3 tram types on this route: the BN/ACEC LRV from 1982, that you covered and can also find on the Charleroi Light Metro, the Siemens Hermelijn from 1999, a few of them are at the coast all the time but most of them are brought from Antwerp and Ghent in the summer to cope with the enourmous increase of passengers, and then you have the brand new CAF Urbos that you covered, that are replacing the old BN trams that are completely eaten by the sea salt.

    The old yellow validation machines are indeed not used anymore since last year (it surprises me they didn't remove them yet). If you look well, you can see a sticker on their left. Below this, there are buttons to choose how many zones you wanted to travel. This zone-based ticketing system has also been abolished quite some time ago already.

    Taking this tram the whole way and hopping on and off seems lke a great way to spend a summer day. The sofa style seat at the very back of the older tram gives it a real sitting room feel. I really liked the old stone station too - I am glad it survived!. Thanks for the interesting report! 🚡

    Good video. There are three types of coastal trams: the BN-series (the oldest), the Hermelijn (more recent) and the slimmer dolphin-like CAF (since this year). On some occasions the historical trams you mentioned run aling different parts of the coast, among them the older yellow coastal trams and also other trams from other places, one even from Holland. 🤓 These older trams are indeed not run by De Lijn, but by TTO. These older trams would make a nice seperate video too 😎

    The old validation machine looks identical to the old MetCard validator in Melbourne!

    • @Neojhun
      @Neojhun 2 роки тому

      Gah the old soft card stock MetCards. Even if you have a long term Fair it was just a Plastic Coated version of the same card stock.
      When I was a Student I use to buy the 1/2 Yearly because that was the limit the cards could survive. Thus automatically get a fresh one middle of the year.
      My PTV card is soo old it expired when I did not go Melbourne from early 2019 to all of 2020. Still like New.
      Melbourne also has the 2nd longest Tram Route Number 75 to Vermont South.

    Misschien moeten wij dat hier in Nederland ook maar eens doen: om te beginnen dan van Den Helder naar Hoek van Holland - en als we dan een paar oude spoorlijnen herstellen hebben we meteen een stuk minder files in de zomer.

    I’m afraid that record will be broken this coming Friday, as in Los Angeles, California, USA, the Los Angeles County Metro will officially open the Regional Connector and its three new stations (Little Tokyo/Arts District, Historic Broadway and Grand Avenue Arts/Bunker Hill). As it does, the A (Blue) Line will take over the Foothill section of the L (Gold) Line, in which the existing line from 7th Street to Downtown Long Beach will be linked.
    At 49.5 miles (79.7 kilometers), it will become the longest light rail line in the world. It will even longer when Phase 2B of the Foothill extension (Glendora - Pomona-North) opens in 2025.
    Nevertheless, it is a great coastal tram.

    Very well produced video! I'm visiting Bruges from England in early June. I have researched getting a train to do either all or part of the tram route. We could start at Knokke, or Blankenberg, or Ostend I think? Is there any section which is more enjoyable than another? Having said that, we enjoy both town and sea views. Thanks in advance and I have subscribed.
