A very interesting film about the fall and rise of the UKs tramways. If only we could keep up the enthusiasm and carry on expanding and opening up some more tramways. It would be fantastic !!

My maternal great grandfather was born in Newcastle, Australia, though during the twenties and thirties, she lived in Brighton with her husband and their two sons (my uncle and grandfather). She wrote about taking my grandfather (a very young boy at the time) on a ride on a Brighton tram. I've since found out that, uniquely, Brighton's trams ran on 3"6 gauge track.

Liverpool had an extensive tram system which ran on the equivalent of two diesel engine generators powering the entire system. That was far more green than the fleets of diesel buses which replaced trams.

Would it be possible for Manchester to borrow one of the illuminated Blackpool trams for the 2024 Manchester Christmas decorations?

Trams are the best surface transit system. And fazing out trams just because trolleybuses had better seats, well that's a very weird argument. Trams run much smother without bumping.

A good video spoilt by the obsequious assertions that buses are more comfortable than trams. What balderdash.

Tried the tramcar in local area it’s not standard of the tramcars of the period, single deck and isn’t as fast as the motor bus.
