I was one of the very last flights that had “web belts”. It was funny seeing new guys marching around with backpacks on lol. I graduated in 2016 though. Man time flies
Tony 3.7 I graduated August 2016, I remember when the backpackers started showing up lol, I believe I was 3 or 4 weeks ahead of the first backpack flights
I lost 55 lbs in Air Force boot camp back in 2003. I was 195 lbs to 140 lbs, my stomach was sucked in and you can clearly see my ribs, it was bad. I was on the fat boy program for the first three weeks, it worked, I lost a lot of weight. Plus, I didn't take a poo until week 3, they put something in the food that doesn't make you crap. We had green BDU's back when we went in and we had to iron our shit and clean our boots on a daily basis to a wax shine. Good stuff.
when i was there in 2002, zero week we were called rainbow flight because all sorts of color while wearing civies and first week whille wearing the running shoes with the bdu's we were called baby flight
Crazy to see how much BMT has changed just in 1 year. Now week 6 is still the EOC and other busy stuff, but week 7 is BEAST and grad week 8. I also went over Thanksgiving, but Operation Home Cooking fell during my graduation. Graduated 29 Nov FLT 015. Also, no more airman’s week, and they also standard issue the new OCP’s, starting with my graduating week (1 Oct 2019)
Jaylessa Aguirre I’ll be a reservist. I’m not super nervous but eager to see what it’s gonna be like on the inside. So many bmt and tech school videos!
They issued running shoes to you? I went to BMT in 2014 and we brought our own but they could only have black or white for color. We had 8 weeks and graduated on the 8th week. I don't think they did Airman's week at that point... we just went straight to tech school that Monday morning. Interesting how things change!
Was in the army from 2016-2018 my basic was 16 weeks cus I was infantry. Seriously thinking about re-enlisting into the airforce 7 weeks of basic? Count me in too easy
You don't need college credits to enlist if you have a high school diploma. Without a diploma you will need at least 15 semester hours and a 65 or higher on the ASVAB. If you have 30 or more semester hours you can qualify for advanced enlistment at an E-2, and if you have 45 semester hours you can come in at an E-3.
Ethix Higgins So if you get 90% or above on your PT test and EOC exam you are eligible for Honor Grad. Which is something they give out to a handful of graduating Airman. You get a ribbon and are recognized.
Hey! I have a question of what I’m able to bring to my dorms/barracks. I have a pc used for work, and I was wondering if they’d allow me to bring it after bmt
Absolutely, you'll be issued running shoes but you have the option to use your own. I brought my own running shoes but ended up using the ones I was issued because they were really nice.
They gave me the option of using the Nike’s I brought w me or ASICS that I would have to purchase from military clothing. The only stuff that was issued to us that we didn’t have to pay for was our uniforms and boots. Paid for all the shit in the backpack. That was feb-may 2017
Exactly when during the zero night or during receiving week a trainee's backpack/belongings get searched in Lackland? I know at USMC and ARMY the MTIs asks you to pour down everything from your backpack and then they go through every piece of your belongings. Is it the same case for Air Force? (Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to sneak in any contraband ot BMT. Just curious in case I can take few tums with me or a photograph or two of my finance. )
Hello! Do you know what’s days the trainees at BMT are able to give their letters to be sent out? I know they do mail call everyday but there’s only a couple days they are able to send out the letters that they’ve written. Which days are those?
MarissaTimmers typically we sent mail on Sundays, but other flights got to send mail during the week. It just depends on your MTIs and what week you are in. As you progress farther into BMT you get to wright and send mail more.
They are able to send out letters every night when they get free time. Some nights they wont be able to because they will have things to do all the way up until lights out at 9 o'clock. I wasn't able to send out letters until end of week 1 and it was very sparse sending until the later weeks of training where we got more free time. If you aren't getting as many letters as you would have hoped don't sweat it! Keep sending letters to your trainee, he'll get them everyday and he''ll write back as much as he can.

That's a good job! Make sure you drink lots of water before you go because you will have to once you get there. September in San Antonio is VERY hot.
Can speak with experience here. Trust me. They'll make sure you stay hydrated lol. Good luck!
I don't have a set date yet to leave but I'm getting an admin job as well :)
Im leaving in a week and ill be doing security forces. Wish me luck staying in San Antonio for that long during the summer.

Uniform of the Day is White Mesh Bag.
I just enlisted today and the only thing I'm worried about is not being able to keep up when it comes to running
Practice makes perfect.
I wouldn’t worry about ur gonna be running a lot.
Dont worry about that. If they still do it the same way we did it 30 years ago you run as a group. But things may have changed.

What happen if you have beast week for Christmas?
i’m curious, as for the PT shoes, am allowed to use my own? they’re muted colors, no neon, and a little bit reflective.
I was able to go to the BX and buy my own, 1981.
Is BMT different for battlefield airmen?
No BMT will be the same for battlefield airman, your tech school however will be way different
Yeah it’s a bit different. Battlefield airmen are kept in differ dorms. They do extra PT. They are kept with only Battlefield airmen.
Hey brother , got one questions for ya . Would I be required to take college credits prior to enlistment ????
