Everyone talking about Lou and J but Murph killin the drums fr
He’s an outstanding drummer.
Absolutely, I’ve been really into his drumming lately, it’s sick
yup. lou and j are both awesome, but murph's the one that makes the whole thing work.
Always has and always will
Lou Barlow is a extremely underrated bassist, just look at how insane he is playing that bass.
This is what I like in Lou, his Lemmy-like bass playing.
more like johnny ramone like playing. lemmy was precise in the strings he hit. lou just slams away
+jazzblaster I used to play the bass like that in one of my old bands... I was like the only Dino Jr fan out of my friend group... They were into the more mainstream music Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana etc. Dinosaur Jr. is too good for the mainstream.
I don't think that's fair, Lou plays a lot of chords and as far as Dino goes he's precisely what the band needs.
Lou is much more precise than he looks.
I've been a Dino Jr fan for about seven years and a bassist for five, but Lou's hit-the-strings-wherever-it'll-sound-fucking-great-anyway-ness still manages to baffle the shit out of me
It's all in the pick attack
and muting but atp in 2024 you already know
Three Dads from western Massachusetts just showing utter mastery of their instruments. Amazing stuff. This song is stunning.
I have to agree. Just discovered them within the last few months. Watched this dozens of times already. I love his bass tone
KEXP have the best sound in radio by far.
John Peel had some of the best
One of my all-time favorite riffs. Just a couple of socially awkward dudes tearing shit up.
@Jack Burton When it does the changeover at 1:22 on the original album.
Not only my favorite Dinosaur Jr. song... probably, my favorite song.
I like you.
Might be mine as well.
Olha só quem eu encontro por aqui. Três anos depois
Same.
May be mine too .... the simple poignancy of the lyric combined with that solo .... gives me shivers every time
Great mixing. Lou's bass sounds perfect. Sometimes he too low in the mix. Even on the albums.
daddysensei Silver On Your living all over me, he’s pretty much all I hear especially on raisins
Tbh their bass wasn't too great on bug and your living all over me
@@joeman720 It was great but the recording is kinda lo-fi
This is because J Mascis is one of the worst record producers that ever lived. The bass is practically non-existent on most Dinosaur Jr albums.
@@mwhite6522 yeah the mix is kick heavy
for a DJ fan this is probably the best video on youtube
I bought this on cassette in 87, they are a true power trio, equally extremely talented and loud, good to see them recognized and staying together
One the greatest songs of all time and with such little lyrics. The instrumental of guitar bass and drums say it all. No words needed we all get what they're saying when dinosaur jr plays
OMG that's a good version of the lung
this song, from the first time i heard it in freshman year 87 til now, is probably the main reason dino jr has been my favorite band all these years.
My first year of college in Oregon, 1991, was ignited through the fires of this album. Still burns as brightly now as it did then.
One of the best songs of all time imo
best three man band ever
Hüsker Dü was not bad either !..😉
rush disagrees
And so do the Jimi Hendrix Experience!!!
That said, I fucking love the Dinos.
Minutemen were great too
Alkaline Trio
This track is amazing. So hard to explain. A dam breaks and pure nature crashes into the valley. America at it's best. What a band !
This might be my favorite Dinosaur Jr. tune...
I like these more recent live versions too...the slowed down tempo sounds way cool.
On UA-cam Videos like this its always the same, everyone agrees that its just great music. No stupid hate, no dumb comments, i love it!
they dont make riffs like this anymore!
Mr Eighty 2.0 they barely any riffs as good as this one
Sure they do
Check out The Young Leaves
drug church
new issue
I was here for this. They rocked this hard at like 10 am. Incredible.
this is like the best thing ever oml
That outro gets me every time.
@3:33 you have the privilege of being present in front of the greatest ever rock band eva and your texting! Holy Shit!
i come here every now and then just to remind myself what 'best band in the land' means
This is how much Punk energy they play with, after decades, ferocious.
Fucking great version of the Lung. Powerful stuff. All three of these dudes are so tight. Brings me back to Atlanta in the 90s seeing them live at the Masquerade. This is still one of my all time favourite bands.
RIP to old Masq
Thats drummers insanely good, the whole band are rocking the house down at kexp
grew up as a hard rock/metal teen in late 80s so we were totally into grunge scene in the 90s. These guys are still making awesome music. Not a big fan of Dinosaur Jr back then other than what they had on WAAF in Boston but now realizing how talented and relatable their music is.
Actually on the album the guitar stops and the bass takes lead in the same spots, but yes it also gives J a chance to retune after the tremelo action
I love this song, and the audio guy is the best! The band seriously sounds so good...
Soooo amazing!
amazing guitar sound
So insanely good!
Love the bass ❤️
Such a great band
Sick. This is as good as it gets.
My favorite DJr song, and that's saying sumpin'
This rendition tickles my fancy very much. Its a perfect live recording for a perfect track
They just absolutely KILL IT!!!
4 People are Musically Challenged.
Now their are 10 of them, these people need to be taught a lesson in decent music!
Next time my Lung collapses im gonna play this in the hospital
Nice one haha
Next time?
@@TinkerToneworks spontaneous lung collapse 100% right side, one minute you are breathing normally the next doubled over struggling to breath, I was told 70% chance of it happening again.
@@pcat1977 that sounds fucking horrific, hope you feel better 4 years later haha
One of my friends who plays drums actually played a 45 minute set with his metal band on a fully collapsed lung and didn't realize how much pain he was in until the show was over. so wild
@@TinkerToneworks shit that's the issue, banging stuff like crazy, I was using mallets with my right hand for up to 10 hours of a 18 hour shift the morning before I noticed mine collapsed. It's smashing shit that does it !!
I love how this era of Dinosaur Jr's music sounds like 80s hardcore imploding.
They do look like they're having fun!!
J's best solo imo
Most melodic and beautiful album by DJ. 1987
beautiful
Great performance 💯🔥
So fucking great! Loved this tour, so glad I caught them live
Awesome! thx KEXP
The bass sound is just intense. J had a lot of unmotivated remarks, but I like that image hasn't changed at all.
everyone talkin bout Lou and J but murph is killing it
Favorite DJr. Song!!
This is fuckin' sublime!!!
Excellent band and musicians!!!
SUPERB!
put the video of the whole show haha
and kexp you are doing a great job!
I'm from Brazil and I love your work!
"did you see the drummer's hair?" (Pavement) ha ha ha
Is he really talking bout dinosaur jr in cut your hair? Lmaoooo that's funny xD
Ruben Chapman I think murpnwasn't bald in the 90
@@stronkman9157 he wasnt at that time
I like how loud this is on YT! :-)
The way I feel when I hear J play makes smile 😊
bah essa gurizada do dinossauro junior é tri tche
かっこよすぎ
throwin it everywhere
@jeffhasnolife he stops because he is tuning. Usually when he uses the tremolo before he gets into the vocals, the tuning is completely thrown off in their live set, so to fix that he tunes in the middle of his singing to solve that issue.
I got to say, that's some sexy manhandling of the bass!
SMOKIN..This is why SPIN magazine proclaimed J Mascis is God
YESSSSSSSSSSS
wowwwwwwwww
Cool.
Testament to this band
Bloody good
Almost forgot to watch this today
See their show in Hong Kong last week. It was fucking great!
If that guitar solo was a human I would ask it out for a steak fucking dinner. And pay.
Kyle Waller ya that solo was j
i would buy it a beer
Lou Barlow from Dino Jr should be added into the mix. He always said that it actually helped with his technique of absolutely spanking the strings as hard as possible!
listening this in 2021 with 50% of my lungs injuried wih covid19...
get well soon man,covid sucks
Nonchalantly retunes during the song, band doesn't miss a beat.
murph isa machine
this song smokes
Good live replication of the original version.
guess why no dislikes, damn sweet tune
That was fucking awesome
Lou Fucking Barlow
dat bass is sick, right?
No. I hate it. That bass killed my mother.
I’ve seen Dinosaur Jr. live about 6 times and THE LUNG was the first song they played every single time.
That’s so fucking weird. But awesome fucking weird!!!
huge
No where to collapse the lung that breathes a doubt on everyone. So basically J Mascis was depressed/low self esteem on brought down the people around him? :D I've always loved that it's only one lyric that's repeated throughout the song. It's also a great summer song.
DinoJ mkae me feel happily nostaligic
There are many great Dino songs, but if I had to pick just one...
esta bien tocar lo primero que se les ocurra.
J.ESUS MASCIS
I make friends with everyone. Because everyone starts good. You just honestly be there and everyone agrees with you. no muss. no fuss. just decency backing each other up. *nod*
The Best rock Cláudio braz
Does anyone know the name of the chord J is playing around the beginning that sounds sorta like an F but is played about 3-5 frets up?
im not sure exactly if i am talking about the same thing: the chord he plays right before the riff on the open c chord? i have seen other people ask about that chord as well. i dont think it sounds like an F though. i'm p sure it's just the bottom part of a C bar chord at the 3rd fret, with his pinky hammering the F on the B string. so he arpeggiates C on the G string, followed by G on the high E string, and then pulls off from F->E on the B string. which is why i guess it "sounds" like an F to some people, but the root of the chord is still C.
mfautobot Thank you

Does anyone even know what chord that is he uses in the intro? It's always around the 4th fret and I can never figure it out.
let's just be friends and peace
No; J is a guitar god. I've just seen him do this song for 20 years.
I didn’t know they were a trio
a power trio
im covering this song! its fairly easy not too easy though xD
where to cop Lou's shirt?
fuckin wow
