lou: 'what do you wanna play J?"
J: oh, "in a jar sounds good"
probably the most interaction between J and lou has ever had
In an interview w/ Marc Maron, J said that while Lou was out of the band, Dino Jr wouldn't play this song. I think I understand why.
me: "maybe I can learn the bass part for this song by watching Lou play it live"
Lou: *does back flips on stage, strums like his bass wont make a sound unless he hits it with the might of thor, and isnt close up on that much*
Me: :^(
relatabke
X2
coming back to this shit i can now play the bass line perfectly u still needa learn it bro
J, Meanwhile: _oscillates_
Same. Lou must have hands of steel like an old Shaolin kung fu master or something. I think he stopped playing his Rick because beating the hell out of it would depreciate it's value too much.
This song, and that whole album came from Lou and Murph getting together without J for a whole summer or something, and hammering all the stuff out so when J got back they'd be tight as hell. In my opinion it's not just their best record, it's one of the best albums of all time. So glad they're still killing it and not doing what the Pixies did when they reunited and couldn't get the spark back.
Lou does not get enough credit as a bass player. He should be up there with Lemmy!
bruh
@@luanfelipe4659 brah bro bruh lyke bruh what’s a book bro? Bruh!
my dad saw dj play this song live and i've never been more jealous
The bass here , one of my first riffs , my favorite dino Jr. Song , Lou is fuckin epic
it's really the best band on earth
I think Dinosaur Jr in Manchester in February was the loudest gig I've ever been to. And I saw My Bloody Valentine the following month too!
As much as I love the record, it sounds tighter and more powerful here.
They are a much tighter unit than they were years ago.
The recording tech here might honestly be better than what they were working with in 1987.
It's times like these that I wish for the impossible: a studio rerecording of YLAOM, and also Green Mind (which I also adore, but the production never grew on me).
@@EctInc they did a full playthrough of ylaom in a park in Amherst and there's a yt video out there of it
"What do you wanna play J?"
"Yeah, in a jar or something"
"So was that it..?"
Yeah, I watched the video too.
Haha... laugh so hard as I always do when someone ask him anything...
lmao
On The brink of WWIII thinking: When they pick this song up out of the ruins they'll know some of us knew how to create something beautiful
Dat bass.
If all songs were this good the world would be a better place.
holy fuck that's a lot of full stack
The bass on this is amazing, it's probably my favorite Dinosaur song. They didn't used to play it live though. Was this around the time they played 'you're living all over me' in its entirety in London or what?
Saw them play it the other week. I nearly cried.
A Tree i did cry when they played it live 😂
@@atree88My buddy and I bodysurfed on this one live, memories from many many years ago. I was legit crying while surfing the crowd. I felt like for a moment, I could be myself, and I was in a place I belonged.
lou barlow is my favorite bass player
insanely good
Saw them live when they reunited quite a while ago, one of the best performances of my life, and I’ve seen at least 300 gigs in the past 20 years. Lou is a beast live. Couldn’t hell but go for a dance on the stage, stage dive and body surf.
Fuc@ing awesome band, album, song performance. I adored this band during my last days of shitty law school and still fucking do. So criminally underrated. I LOVE THIS 2021!
Fuck man, EVERY. SINGLE. SECOND. OF. THIS. SONG. IS. PURE. LIFE!!!!!!!!!!
This song showcases Lou's Bass skills better than any Dinosaur song.
NEVER enough cabs.
every once in a while i watch this video and laugh at how undervalued lou barlow is as a bassist
PROOF that miracles can happen
What the fuck is the bassist doing and how does it sound so good?
He's play lots of power chords and strumming as hard as he can he's mutes every string he isn't playing so it sounds good
Lou is unique in his style!
I've always thought this song influenced Sappy by Nirvana. Particularly in lyrical themes and on Cobain's guitar solo. Dinosaur was a huge influence on them, something that is readily apparent if you've seen concert footage of Dinosaur from the mid-80's.
Never thought of that, but that could really make sense!
ferocious
Dinosaur got so much better at performing over time
One of my favorite vids on the tube
This is the only song I've ever heard by dinosaur jr and I've listened to it like 200 times
Y'know you should listen to another songs, there are songs by them as good as that one
Try Quest, live version.
Try the lung, the wagon, little fury thing, get me,freak scene....and if you like that song so much listen to sebadoh too...the bass player group
the neck attack goes crazy man
At 2:45 I was expecting that "AHHH" haha
They have stuff to block out the crowd noise but trust me they 200% did it
sounds so fucking good live
2:18-2:41 is such an incredible sound
yes..... this i like!
Banging.
murph was fucking ripping it
Бог ты мой, как он играет на бас-гитаре!
scabs collecting 'neath your window from the knife wounds you've got...
Around 1:30 n 2:30 is nicely a total Ripathon as uuzsh..👌
'll be grazing by your window
Please come pat me on the head
I just want to find out what you're nice to me for
When I look up, don't think I don't know
About all the scabs you dread
It's hard to stomach the gore
I know you don't have the patience
To peel them off no more
In a jar where you believe
All I could do was lick your hand
In a jar the scars are plain to see
I hope somehow you'll know I understand
I'll be grazing by your window
Please come pat me on the head
I just want to find out what you're nice to me for
Then you smile and decide to take me in
'cause I look you by your bed
But I can feel it just a little more
I'll watch you fall apart, babe you know it
You know I'm young and stuff, babe don't blow it
Just unscrew the top, yeah
Pick me up now just can't stop
In a jar where you believe
All I could do was lick your hand
In a jar where scars are plain to see
I hope somehow you'll know I understand
Scabs collect beneath your bureau
From the knife wounds you got
I believe this song is about homemade moonshine in a jar
Rad Rad Rad What else can you say???
no dislikes, mundial
Now that's a motherfucking BAND
fuck,so good;)
enough cabs??!
g - zus !
Ear plugs.
Not enough.
