Those who are telling you that your Husband is showing you all that love because you are American are Jealous about the Success of your Relationship (Marriage).
Alot of (Nigeriqn) Women take their spouses for granted ... especially their efforts...
And I think it is largely due to our Culture and Norms....
For example: It is Part of the African Culture for the Man to Pay all the Bills.... Children's School Fees, Rents, Food in the HOUSE.... etc
That's How You Show or Prove that you are the head of the HOUSE (Family)
Whereas, Over there, the Couple split or share the Responsibilities....
So, Over here, the men that don't or can't meet up with those Bills payments are often talked down or looked down upon by "SOME" women and this actually Contributes largely to a lot of Nigerian men beginning to Consider dating or Marrying more Understanding and Caring Women...
Finally let me say that Only God can Connect One with SOMEONE who TRUELY LOVES him or her.... and if you've found One, then by all means KEEP, PROTECT, CHERISH and.hold on Firmly....

I’m a Nigerian woman married to a Nigerian man who is very caring and affectionate. The thing is we don’t see a lot of married Nigerian men on UA-cam and also we tend to be private people. Love is love no matter the race, people just choose to see the negative when they’re not happy in their own lives or due to their own trauma. Love you guys ❤️

You are absolutely right. Nigerian couple are very private. I am also Married to a Nigerian man that I mate while in college and I supported him through his career but my friends and family called me fool, but today, they all admire my marriage all because of how my husband adores me and respect me. My husband don’t have any social media account or access and he so very private and I respect his decision.

My man was not trying to fall for an American woman, but we fell in love. He is the purest example of love that I have witnessed. I honor my Nigerian man! I have never felt love like this, and at first I almost ruined it because people were telling me that he was a scammer. I was defending him because I FELT his soul was the mate to my soul. Do not let people deter you from love.

So much to unpack, I think you guys need to make this a series.
The sad reality is that a lot of people are damaged from either “societal standards” or relationships that they’ve been burned in. They think it’s dubious for someone to love them that much, thus they question why someone actually does. Everyone’s experience is different and sadly, it takes a whole lot to switch that mindset to a positive one.
The solution in my point of view is to do your best to find someone who reciprocates your love, don’t settle for any less, that’s the never ending cycle that needs to break.

I totally agree with you. First of all genuine love is mysterious. It is sometimes revealing and concealing at he same time. We actually do not FALL IN LOVE. We grow in love and this is a life time adventure of discovering each other. The more we discover in each other should be the more intense our passion for each other becomes. A diamond is never discovered with a process of digging deep. Less think on these thing. The more pressure or fire a diamond goes through the purer it becomes and the brighter it shines.

@@rosalieedelstein1240 I think the man already addressed some of the reasons. To me, I believe we take advantage of love. Girls in other countries don't see men as the source of their income, little things trigger them, and why foreign girls will always be after Nigerian men is because Nigerian men will be convinced to spend their last card on a woman that is not after his wallet. They appreciate flowers (Little gifts) over there and we appreciate money in Nigeria. Telling you that I love you today doesn't mean I started taking the whole responsibility (I am not your father) and even when we get married the bill can still be shared, we both own the responsibilities 👌🏽✌🏽 IMO

Thanks Lamb for trying to explain a very complicated relationship between men and women in Nigeria. Unfortunately, our society confines and dictate the relationship between men and women in a way that from the get-go is separating. Partners are constantly trying to catch up with cultural expectations, which kind of regresses according to each family, so they never have time to grow together, really get to know each other and fall deeply in love with each other. However, being with someone outside of the Nigerian society gives you the freedom to create the life and love that you want and need. It is very, very difficult to create a free, loving, respectful relationships with some Nigerians and even harder in Nigeria
It is very heartening to see relationships like yours and mostly to see the true love, happiness, contentment, and fulfillment in my brother Lamb. STAY CONNECTED!

I'm a Nigerian man, an Igbo man to be precise, we don't joke with our wives, I love my wife so much and I express it every moment. I married a Nigerian woman who happened to be one of the cadets in the marine academy I instructed then. There was a day she said that no one will believe that it's me doing all these at home, that was even before we got married. When you're in love, you're in love, irrespective of who is involved and besides if you want a happy home, keep your wife on a happy mood always, that'll bring out that sincere humble little girl in her, but ladies don't take advantage of your husband's love or take it for granted, if not he'll try to be the opposite which he's not in the first place. All your man needs is that respect and peace of mind, he'll bring the heavens down for you.

I love cooking and mostly do most of the kitchen chores. We were love birds always together ,just like you Lambo pointed out, people started talking I used juju on her to love me that much while some call me mumu😂🤣
After uni we were apart for 9yrs because she went to UK to further her studies while I was Nigeria pursuing my career but in all this we kept communicating, planning n building our love.
We got married 2016 and now we are presently base in London living together loving each and me still doing most of the kitchen chores with all happiness because I enjoy cooking for my wive.

I'm a Nigerian man and living in Yankee since age of 7. I've been Nigerian women raised in the US, UK, and Nigeria. One thing I've noticed is that those raised outside of Nigeria did allow me to be more affectionate w/o seeing it as a weakness, whereas those raised in Nigeria found it odd and thought to take me for mumu. Perhaps it's just the state of Nigeria where due to the harshness, every1, men and women, must be tough. Those that grew up in the diaspora however, had the luxury of being able to learn to be more emotionally expressive and vulnerable. What I'm trying to say is that when one is concerned about no light, possible kidnappings, no job, no money, etc., your focus is on how to survive, not on how to be affectionate. We see it in developed countries as well. Just go to the ghettos where ppl have it rough. You won't see men and women being affectionate or lovey dovey especially in public.

These experiences help build our characters, it's also a lesson for her too because a time will come that she will realize how valuable you were. I agree fully with you! I’m not Nigerian do I can’t speak to that, but I’m a product of an interracial marriage. I popped out looking white, but my mother was disowned for marrying my father. That being said there was still this notion within the family that I had to go with certain women and do certain things. At some point I dropped all that mess. I found my peace with my wife and I totally fawn over her, and spoil her because she’s a part of me. Yes it includes taking her to Disney 😂, and guys have called me soft for doing it, but I could give a damn. I’m happy showing my love to her and embracing her for who she is because I get the same back. More power to you guys!!

Ling and Lamb, I truly love the relationship that you share. Being biracial myself I can understand the "hate". This comes from jealousy and a lack of understanding what a real relationship is. Keep moving forward with your life and love.

As an African, I can tell you that many have issues with expressing their love. Secondly, pride is a contributing factor and the negative thoughts is even worst than the pride.

Firstly, I'd like to commend Lamb on how brilliantly he's presented his argument. The truth is there's that stigmatization regarding males that are expressive of themselves and their emotions, leading to comments like "he's a simp" and the likes. I'd say that as a whole, Nigerians can be very dishonest regarding how we go about expressing ourselves and our emotions, and I see this as a cultural problem because we're mostly not brought up to be true and genuine with ourselves, and this pertains to both genders. However, there are thriving families where being true to oneself is encouraged. That being said, it gladdens my heart now that millennial parents are going about changing the narrative, regarding how their male and female children are brought up as pertains to expressivity and the likes.
Kudos to Ling and Lamb. You guys rock
