    Hello friends !! In this video i am gonna show you how to upgrade dc motor and change its speed and make it faster at home Its very easy process and you can make it using household stuffs.
    The reason i am going to upgrade this dc motor is that this dc motor has very less speed and torque also
    The method i have used in this video for upgrading dc motor and making it faster is very simple and anyone can make it at home to make any dc motor faster.

    A DC motor is any of a class of rotary electrical machines that converts direct current electrical energy into mechanical energy. The most common types rely on the forces produced by magnetic fields. Nearly all types of DC motors have some internal mechanism, either electromechanical or electronic, to periodically change the direction of current in part of the motor.
    DC motors were the first form of motor widely used, as they could be powered from existing direct-current lighting power distribution systems. A DC motor's speed can be controlled over a wide range, using either a variable supply voltage or by changing the strength of current in its field windings. Small DC motors are used in tools, toys, and appliances. The universal motor can operate on direct current but is a lightweight brushed motor used for portable power tools and appliances. Larger DC motors are currently used in propulsion of electric vehicles, elevator and hoists, and in drives for steel rolling mills. The advent of power electronics has made replacement of DC motors with AC motors possible in many applications.

    A DC motor is any motor within a class of electrical machines whereby direct current electrical power is converted into mechanical power. Most often, this type of motor relies on forces that magnetic fields produce. Regardless of the type, DC motors have some kind of internal mechanism, which is electronic or electromechanical. In both cases, the direction of current flow in part of the motor is changed periodically.
    The speed of a DC motor is controlled using a variable supply voltage or by changing the strength of the current within its field windrings. While smaller DC motors are commonly used in the making of appliances, tools, toys, and automobile mechanisms, such as electric car seats, larger DC motors are used in hoists, elevators, and electric vehicles.

    Less turns= higher RPM but less torque, More Turns = Lower RPM but higher torque. It's a trade off, finding the sweet spot between torque & speed for the application of the motor is what it all comes down to. Great video however on showing how to wind a motor!😎👍👊🍻

    Main (only) change in preformance is ability to carry more current, which does indeed increase the power (and speed) of the motor, however, it also massively increases the power consumption (not sure wether lineary or exponentionally). A better upgrade for these toy 130s would be a magnet upgrade (from ferrite to neodymium), as that would improve the efficiency of the motor (more power goes to the shaft). At that point, however, buying a metal back 130 is likely cheaper in terms of money and time.

    • @mobmob5944

      You missed the point of the video bud . Good job for trying tho

    • @ApusApus
      @ApusApus 2 роки тому +4

      @@mobmob5944 I guess different views on what constitutes an upgrade. Also, pretty sure the 8x speed part wasn't included in the title a year ago.
      From experience, a slower 130 with torque (higher magnetic flow, made with better magnets or more windings), is more likely to be usefull than a 25k rpm motor at 3v that is slowed to a halt by a gear put on it. Those also tend to consume less current at a given load, reducing electrical losses and making them easier to drive.
      Funnily enough, putting in weaker magnets (or even removing them entirely) might speed it up even more.
      (DC motors, the only part of the book on electrical machines I actually red).

      Magnet modified increase torque
      You have e any experience?
      How many x magnet change increase out put power?

    • @ApusApus
      @ApusApus 2 роки тому +2

      @@afgamer5576 haven't changed any magnets, but do have weaker and stronger magnet 130s. The weaker magnet ones can be halted with fingers, the stronger ones will burn them at similar power input (10w).
      In theory a 2x magnetic flux will double the torque and half the speed. Sadly, wikipedia hides flux generation under the machine constant and I don't have the formula on hand. The video changes said constant by reducing counter-emf (due to fewer windings) that allows for higher speed at the expense of higher current draw. Iirc then the number of windings did matter for flux generation as well.

    • @ApusApus
      @ApusApus 2 роки тому +1

      On a rewatch, it's not the thickness of the wire that matters, it's the reduced number of windings. What you can hear after modification is mostly the current heating the motor up, and some speed increase. Funily enough, the lack of responsivness on the propeller at the end proves the lack of torque point.

  • @MACROPARTICLE
    @MACROPARTICLE 3 роки тому +19

    It only spins faster because the thicker wire reduces the back EMF. This means a reduction in torque.

    Couldn’t the re-winding with the new copper adversely impact what was once perfect radial symmetry (in terms of weight balance)? And might that therefore pose a fire hazard or some other hazard from friction if it were to run for a prolonged time? (I have zero formal training in this area so I’m purely speculating)

    • @paarthpradhan198
      @paarthpradhan198 2 роки тому +3

      That's why adequate voltage is important(or there surely will be fire). Unless the mass imbalance is too much, it won't affect the speed of the motor and even if the mass imbalance is too much it will merely cause the speed to decrease. Talking about the fire hazard, yes there are 100% chances of fire hazards due to the extreme speeds. The motor is specifically designed to handle moderate speed of the shaft. But if we modify the design a little bit like make sure that the rotating shaft will 100% won't go out of its place, there won't be any lose connections and if we also use bigger stuff-in-which-the-copper-wire-goes (2:42 that pinky) then we can easily maintain symmetry of the wire which won't affect the speed either. But, alas, no guarantees, its better to use a factory made fast motor than an home-made upgraded dc motor.

    The question is, how long would the motor last at that higher speed if it is run for a long time? Doesn't that put extra wear on the bearings?

    • @degankidwell2349
      @degankidwell2349 2 роки тому +2

      No bearings it’s a electro magnet so the current just maker it float off the sides and spin really fast

    I remember the Tamiya days here in the Philippines whenwe use to do this stuff. Your Tamiya will run rediculously fast! But the upgraded motor will eventually burn, and not ro mention your plastic toy.
    This method is banned in competitions too.

  • @foxabilo
    @foxabilo 3 роки тому +6

    Great, now you have a motor that will burn out it's brushes and bearings in a matter of days and consume 10 times the power while doing it, or you could just select the correct kV motor in the first place.
