fyi kan there is a button that turns on a lantern so you can see at night, and you should have a look through all the cars and locos so you can work out what to buy for what cargo
@@bboy9232hyce has said multiple times he hates railroads online so he doesn't wanna play with it anymore he even said he didn't like it when I wondered about it
I kinda love that the game sees the quantity indicator above the water pool at the wheat farm as an actual in-world object and has it reflected in the water. XD
LOL kinda subtle never would have noticed if I didn't see your comment. It's fun how that kind of thing is optional with computers. Reminds me of a 3D rendered valentine I made my ex. it was a big, capital I then a red, glass heart and big capital U. I lit it in such a way that the light projected the red heart onto the floor, but I put the kanji for Ai (Japanese for love) in the heart, it was set invisible, but cast shadow on. So the light heart, contained the shadow of the kanji, though the object itself didn't appear.
You should still grab the larger cars because they hold more of specific things (Lumber, Rails, Logs, Steel Pipes, Water, you get the idea). Don't feel afraid to place or move industries if you want to move them, either. I haven't done anything on the Aurora Falls map, but it looks like Gold doesn't really travel as far as I'd like for what I'd want for my playthroughs and there's not an industry that's as frequented in the chain in the snowy area of the map by default. I also would recommend getting water cars simply because water is cheap and the cars aren't.
a little tip for aurora falls is to give up early on trying to have consistent or smooth grades if you want to stay close to the ground, the terrain is way more bumpy than the other maps so you're going to have to get used to having lots of changes of grade
The reverser mechanic is cool, but it is still not realistic. In real life, the reverser doesn't limit top speed, hooking the bar up just makes the steam usage better. It also helps with the dampening of the moving piston at the dead centers
A reporting park that would look decent on a tender or rolling stock is Y.U.C.K. RR: Yukon, Uintah, Carson, & Klondike. All places with mining heritage, and of course US and Canadian representation 😃 Glad you’re back again, kAN!
Happy this series is back Kan, was worried you quit this. You're the one that got me into it and made me buy it. The new map is bigger than the other 2 maps combined. The passenger cars don't have passengers yet. The Railway Express agency is for selling gold bars.
The aurora effect is fairly accurate from what I can tell, if a bit sped up. On a good night with a strong aurora, (with a high KP index) yes it can light the ground. I would say it's maybe even a bit bright in the way it appears in-game. The devs did a good job with their portrayal though.
I missed seeing this miniseries, and with this snowier part together with the new Huds, I think that on this new map you could make a railway line following the points of the gold mine, Iron mine, etc... Including to show more of the production process that Montezuma can achieve
18:41 I’m going to Iceland a week today on a school trip (I live in the West Midlands of England so obviously I’ve never seen the Northern Lights) and hopefully we’ll get to see them there Very excited 😆
With the Wheat Farm, you need to connect to the water well as you need water to make grain and straw bales. I'd recommend getting a water tanker as well for the wheat farm.
Maby you could make a shuntyard where you give all car types their own place and maby a few extra lines for cars you don't use anymore or trains that you want to keep assembled. That would look cool and it would give a bit of oversight of the amount of cars you have of a speciffic type.
I think it would be better for him, and us ans the viewers, if he got enough track down first. I know that laying track in the dark during a rainstorm is absolute s*it. So if he's going to do money runs, which he tends to do after about 2 or 3 track laying episodes, he needs to turn time of day and weather to dynamic.
14:00 I mean you say that, but that is because you choose to not do it, but like the sensible choice would still be to do logs as at least one of the first things... cause you know early trains run on wood and all that ;) Though with the layout of the map I guess it does make sense to grab the wheat farm on the way anyway
I love watching you play this game, been doing so since you started the series a long time ago now! Personally I think I am going to wait for Century of Steam to release and buy that though. It seems like it is going to be everything this game was supposed to be! Hopefully it's on your radar too
It would be nice if you could "steal" an already built rail or switch with the middle button, like in Satisfactory. It would be sooo much easyer to build a shunting yard.
You mean copy? Steal would kind of imply that you're moving the already placed asset. I agree though. A copy feature would help speed up the process quite a bit.
Hello Kan I am writing to you because long story short My father moved in with me a few years ago when my mom passed away and these last couple of years we have really bonded over our love of this game. However the computer we have is no longer able to keep up with the updates and its time for a new one saying that I don't have a way to share the map to the new computer but I have seen others talk of ways you can, however when trying to read how this is done I simply cannot figure it out. So what I am simply asking for as a visual learner is if you could make a video showing step by step how to share a map with the new computer. Either way we appreicate what you do and love your content!
I love the new map which is much bigger than the others and it has huge differences in height and in the Steam guides there is one where there is a height map. And as a small warning, in order to be able to fully use the new industrial chains you have to get up to the iron works
When you change grade you should really start with a short section of track to "establish" establish the grade, before continuing at a continuous grade. If you change the grade and then start making a section of track it's like its trying to curve from the original grade up to the new grade over the entire length of the segment you're about to build, meaning you don't gain as much height as you would do if you did what i mentioned previously.
Suggestion: Do you think you could try running trains with marker lights? White = Extra/Work Train Green = Scheduled Train (I think) Red = End of train markers
This map is pretty fun from my experience, not too hard but also not full of giant flat areas, and the terrain around the depot being quite uneven too makes it so that you can't even make a yard next to the depot, forcing you to go to one of I think three big flat spots to make one. edit: just finished watching and decided to say that all industries load multiple things at once(except coal/iron, not sure about water and oil tho), which is very nice when loading tools. And that bringing the reverser as close to the middle as possible does indeed make the locomotive go faster.
The reverser is mostly realistic, it looks to have the same issue Railroader has, where you slow down faster by hooking up the bar in reverse than going full reverse
Well, not really. The reverser now works as a gearbox. In real life, having the bar in the corner doesn't limit speed. Hooking the bar up will just give a better steam usage and less wear, but since this game has neither of those its kinda useless
As much as massive rail yards look cool, it'd be nice to see highly efficient yards like they would have built for narrow gauge. More rail is more money, after all.
Would be nice if it would like show the hitboxes of the industries while you are in track loading mode or something, to prevent that whole water faucet situation
The water well is going to be a bit of a challenge. It's in the lowest area of the map and the height difference is about the same as going up to the iron mine from the sawmill on Pine Valley.
I have made a double track map with all industries connected, dredge removed, iron mine moved to the other side of the map almost and railroad express agency plus water well moved to the freight depot.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have the "bypass" lane being the main line while the delivery line is the "bypass" line that diverts off of that main line? currently your main line goes right through the delivery and that feels wrong imho.
That's not quite how the reverser should work, but that's how most train games incorporate the need to bring the bar towards center. The way it works in Derail Valley is closer to real life; but this is still cool to see.

AF for Ah F*ck

yes the reverser having more torque at high values while closer to center allows for higher speed, this is a real function of steam trains.

I got an awful idea. It's an incredibly difficult challenge. No tree cutting, you have to weave the track through the tree's.

I think we should name the railroad K.G.R.R. KAN GAMING RAILROAD
Look at the online wiki and you see the whole chain and it will jog your memory of past play. We still need LOTS coal.
There should be another update real soon in March, but its more for the UI and mini map stuff
I have a name suggestion.
the Bastion Alpine Lumber Line Railway. or B.A.L.L.R
