Great interview. It seems you haven’t been active with your channel in 9 months….I do hope you continue to upload videos, you are a very good interviewer and these talks are very interesting
Glad you're back with a new episode! On Bowhead Whales, I think Vera Gorbunova spoke on this and correlated a gene (CIRBP) which is assocated with lower core body temperature as improving double strand DNA repair, wih DNA repair being correlated with lifespan. It appears we (humans) can transeantly upregulat CIRBP a bit using cold exposure such as cold baths, but whether this is enough to have a significant effect is unknown. I started monthly plasma donation on top of my normal platelet donation at start of 2022. 25% of pkasma every month turned over. Plan to continue for at least a year or two to see if there's an effect on vision, skin, and hair (I'm mostly grey), but in reality expect any positive effects to be subtle with benefits that acrue over time.
This was interesting but... essentially the answer is "we don't know" which is frustrating. My guess is that energy is the key to long life... and to the extent we eat too much, our energy is taken up doing that... and this causes increases in aging. Fasting and calorie restriction allow your body to repair other things.
Fasting is the body's intergrated self cleansing and healing mechanism which both rejuvenates the body and mind and leads to optimum health and well-being. 😊
Please turn your computer notifications OFF!!! The constant ringing is very distracting. I thought perhaps it was from the guests. But it’s every episode. It has to be the host but if not just remind your guest. Keep up the good work.
We just need to repeat all the experiments we did with human/naked mole rat tissue on both bowhead whale and cockatoo/kakapo tissue PS: Alan A Cohen is also evolutionary biologist who studied bird antioxidants!!

Thank you so much Daniel, appreciate it! I do plan on returning and hopefully very soon. Stay tuned!
