i love this video!! i wish not wearing makeup would become a trend the way anti-consumerism has, so i appreciate you posting this!!
i quit makeup last year because it increasingly bothered me how out of sync my morals were with my actions. i was using harmful products to feel like an acceptable human being, and supporting companies that function by keeping women's self esteem low. i don't mean this as an insult to anyone else, but i began to feel so degraded and clownish when i was applying my makeup, like it was this dehumanizing ritual i was only doing because i'm a woman. i felt so much better so quickly once i stopped! my self esteem skyrocketed, i actually really like my face now. i feel free from the stress makeup causes - that spike in blood pressure when you're getting ready for something and your hand slips when you're putting on eyeliner. i feel good that i can be an example to other women and girls that it's fine to forego makeup, even if nobody notices or cares. i also feel so much cleaner and physically more comfortable, it actually makes my skin crawl now to imagine the feeling of gooping up my face. there's so many pros and zero cons to quitting makeup in my experience!

I stopped wearing makeup cold turkey about a year and a half ago. I quit because I was only using makeup out of insecurity and wanted to change that. It’s so freeing not having to put it on anymore!

As a South African black woman , I was suprised by how it seemed women overseas think they are not ready to go outside if they have not put on makeup. The make up trend especially within proffesional & social media settings is unfortumately gaining traction here . I recently discovered how toxic the synthetic braiding hair we use and i was appauls by how companies are allowed to do this , PVC and PeP are some ingridents banned in other things but are ignored in hair extensions. I have personally never used make up and as 25 year old struggling with adult acne, eczema and psoriosis I am terrified of cloggingbmy pores or irrutating my skin with alchol and stuff. I will never cover up , i accept my skin as it is.

I always love the natural look. And thought, I am those very few people, who feels okay, without using make up. Glad that there are women out there, like you who is comfortable with their own true beauty (:

I found that people asked if i was tired or unwell when i didnt wear makeup those kind of comments can make you feel like youre not showing up looking ready to take on the day and go for that promotion.

I enjoyed your video, and the points you’ve made. I want to go natural one day, I’m barely wearing any makeup now and I’m proud of myself for it. I used to go out everyday with a full face, it started to feel like I was hiding myself, like I had something to be ashamed of. Like being natural wasn’t normal or beautiful. Great video.

Today is my second day of also abruptly stopping to use makeup products. I noticed a slight sense of anxiety leaving my house without wearing makeup or even around my own family members. I am the type of person who hates having attachments to mantirealitic objects such as phones, jewelry, and now makeup. I related to all that you said about wanting to be a role model for those who feel like they already have subscribed to this idea of "beauty," therefore if they are to stop feeding into it, then they are seen as "lazy" and "unkept" or the most common thing you'd hear as a woman "tired." I searched on UA-cam to see role models going through this and found this video! I know there will be days more challenging than others, but like everything in life, we are the ones who control our actions at the end of the day. Happy to see more of this, and great job on the video!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment!! How is it going for you so far? Has the anxiety gotten better? I’m so happy that you found this video, and that you shared your experience, it motivates me in return! The more makeup free faces out there the better!

I agree with everything you said, and I understand why it can be an emotional topic. I grew up with a mother who never left the house without "putting on her face" and equated wearing makeup with beauty, class and even virtue. At 62, I am still shedding those messages. I wear little makeup and would love to confidently go completely without for all the reasons you detailed. 😍

@@aliciaannewoodward my mother was/is the same! It’s definitely a challenge to pretty much redefine beauty, especially for ourselves since we are so critical of ourselves. I’m nobody to say this to you but I’m proud of you!

Thank you for this video. I stopped wearing makeup a few weeks ago and will never go back. I’m free to be me. Weee! I’m 60 years old now and followed my mother’s example who when she was growing up in the forties fifties and so on beauty and makeup were a fashion in that era. When I was young I plastered my face with makeup because I was totally insecure. Then when I became secure I thought mascara made me beautiful. It’s what’s on the inside that God our creator cares about. I also started head covering as I feel it is a symbol that God has authority over me. I feel secure with it because I’ve become very modest in my dressing. Wearing dresses, head scarf or cap, no makeup. I feel like a beautiful modest woman and can set an example in this weary world. Blessings to you and your family.

I was totally wearing makeup for the wrong reasons. It was to seek others validation. But I’m finally doing me for me ❤️ and it never felt so good!

I really like the way you are thinking about it, and that is goes very deep. Its nice too see other women that dont wanna use make up because of how bad it is for your body and your body image. I quit with it at the end of 2023 because i wanna love my fully self and be a good model for my daugther and it wasnt easy because its such a habbit too put it on, and at first i had a feeling like i miss something and wasnt ready for the day but after time it give my peace and i start liking things of myself that i didnt saw earlier. i'm no longer obessed with myself and the way i look, also more time too enjoy life. Beauty goes way further than just what you see. And such more time left too do more usefull things. And you save allot more money too 🤣and about aging its just a new hype people are scared of aging. But i think the beauty industrie is really make people more insecure and give them the feeling they need all does things and thats so sad.
Im very interessed in your new videos!

    Sweet Video 🤗
I personally do not care too much of wearing make up, I like myself without. But Generally, I do enjoy esthetics. Maybe because of my artistic hobbies, but certain combinations of colors and shapes sparks joy and gives me energy. Therefore I do care about looks, for myself and Others. But the looks can and should be individually and authentic. I think the right style actually can help to make your personality Shine❤

thank you for sharing your perspective. I totally agree with all your points. By the way, if you haven't already you might want to look into the horror that is growing animals for meat and food. I think you will find a violence there and a lack of kindness that if you expose yourself to it, you won't want to be a part of it anymore. Not to mention, the documented negative effects of meat eating on the body, on the environment (lagoons of excrement the size of texas, ocean dead zones, rainforest destruction.) As well as, just the inneficient waste that it is to feed food and water to animals and then eat the animals, instead of just eating the food and water directly.

I have never worn makeup. My reasons come from the Bible. If we are made in God's image, is there anything else more perfect than that?
