A great version of the Hüsker Dü classic, with Bob's current band (Jon Wurster and Jason Narducy), and Dave Grohl lending support. Be sure to purchase the film - a great night and great tribute to a punk pop icon.

Bob Mould has been operating on a different level for 5 decades
Grohl must be getting that "playing with my hero" feeling here. I'm from St. Paul, and saw Husker Du a LOT... IMHO Bob Mould is more responsible for the "grunge" music genre than ANYONE.
Love Mould but my favorite is Greg Sage of Wipers.Nobody in the rock era has his combination of guitar and songwriting skills, absolutely unbelievable. He is the main reason that Cobain started playing.Cobain put out an 8 song tribute to Sage and offered Sage the opening slot after Nirvana broke big.Sage turned him down.Good thing as Wipers would have stolen the show on a nightly basis.
Supernova1987A Sage absolutely was a pioneer, but IMHO more punk than grunge.
lastdaysguitar I just love Sage's music more than anything, regardless of the label. As long it hits us inside, that's what's important, right?Bob Mould's sound has always been great, too.I saw Husker Du around '87,Living Room,Providence, one of the loudest and best shows I've ever seen.
+Supernova1987A Agree that its what hits us that is important, however I stand by my statement "Bob Mould is more responsible for the "grunge" music genre than ANYONE" as he was (again IMHO) "the guy" that really made grunge popular. So my comment really wasn't about what music you like the most, it was about who pioneered and lifted grunge into the public eye... and that was Bob.
lastdaysguitar Fair enough...rock on.
Here's to all the freakers who love side two of Candy Apple Grey! It saved my life.
Stephen R. Mingle Dead set on destruction
Still one of my favorite releases
Saved me too
Mine too...Eiffel Tower High....
it was the first record I heard by them, I saw them on that tour in Newcastle but in truth the album didn't sink in until a little while after but when it did, yeah, I hear you... I went through a really bad time coming out in the late 80's, and those songs, particularly this and too far down, were the soundtrack of my depression, whilst all this I've done for you was the sound of emancipation; forever grateful bob, and grant
I got choked up listening to this. Brings me back to my childhood in the 80s listening to Candy Apple grey on repeat. Stunning
I still do😪
Great memories. I was working in Greenwich Village when Flip Your Wig came out.
The local record store had put the record in the window for display. I had to pass it all week on my way to the train station until I got paid on Friday, when I could buy it.
Me too the tears just start flowing
Candy apple grey is one of ten best albums of all time!!
Same. 🤘
Bob Mould is up there with the greatest songwriters nobody's ever heard of. The catalogue of fantastic songs this guy compiled boggles the mind. Once you start looking into him, Sugar, Hüsker you'll never get out of that rabbit hole again.
A simply amazing version of a killer song by a criminally underrated musician.
Timeless excellence. Mr Mould's legacy will last for a very, very long time. You may not know who he is but you have heard his spirit wherever you are.
Absolutely criminal!
One of the greatest songs ever written!
This song makes me cry every time...
Tesla Nick
Makes me cry every time as well
@@jerryobrien2848 the last guitar solo takes my breath away, I mean that I get so choked up that I can't breath. How do you even explain what your feeling right then?
@@123juneauu can't explain it that sobg brings me too tears every time i listen it. Bob just kills the last guitar solo. What a honor for Dave too get too play with him
I love how much Dave Grohl loves being out there with Bob Mould playing this song. This is awesome!
The way he sings that last verse cracks me everytime. He really must have written this song from the depths of his soul. Makes my hair stand on end and few songs do that!
Mark Sheridan
If your soul isnt touched by this song u just aren't human
You speak the truth mate
Bob Mould is a living legend - And I'm jealous of all the awesome peeps Grohl gets to work with, which is a testament to his huge talent as well.
Hüsker Dü for ever!
Wow...boom there I am back in my youth in the 80's
I remember seeing Bob play solo at a real small venue in Bmore in the early 90's (Maxs on Broadway). I went alone because none of my friends understood.... One of the best shows I ever saw. 3 feet away from rock/punk legend. Ill never forget it.
Can't stop watching this video.
I can't either!! why?? lol it's making me so emotional I'm bawling right now!!
Dave Obsessed
I always liked this song but this version is so much more heavier and passionate, it really hits the spot. Wish i could download it somewhere.
it's Bob's bizarre and captivating capacity to be able to rock, grieve, inspire and enjoy himself. It's a great reach back into the 80s and a reminder of how, where and why we've reached where we are now Dave Grohl's just trying to hang in; there's a hint of guruism happening here! Bob, looking forward to your new work, out soon.
Well said 👍
Any day is a good day for Bob
I needed that cry, guys....whew.........
This song still works on me decades later in any mood I'm in.
Quite beautiful. Thank you Bob. Husker Du changed my life and Bob helped me come out of the closet because he taught me you don't need to feel ashamed about being gay or act like a screaming queen. xxx
Amazing.
Tears
The rehearsal version, also on UA-cam, is even better imo
Two kings at work
Where has the time gone. Thanks Bob for all the great great music
One of my favourite songs ever. Can't believe I'm only discovering this version now. Can't help but shed a tear for all that r gone, will I ever get over it??
Why Husker Du will always matter. For one and a half years I listened to this song every day. My Old Grandad and Doral's always at my side.
Sounds Perfect in 2024!!
Pfft….sounded perfect in every year following 2011….idiot
Timeless classic, this song feels as fresh today as it did 30 years ago. So jealous that Grohl gets to jam with so many musical heroes...
Fresh. Yes, that's on the money my man. Great things last, that's why we call them great/
In 1986 I lived in the country in Ohio and I was Dying for new music. It took till I went to college 2 years later and could hear 97 X out of Oxford Ohio to have my mind blown of the variety of music that really existed that I didn't know about. Sadly I didn't learn about Husker Du until years later. When I listen to Candy Apple Grey all I can think of is how Husker Du was cheated out album sales from people like me just because the record and radio industry had such a tight control of what music go distributed
best version ive heard of this classic Husker Du song.....bravo
Wow just as powerful now as when I would lock myself in my room in high school and play it
I cry with wonder and love every single time. Thank you.
Saw the Hüskers play this at the Ritz in NYC 1987.
It's still a punch in the gut. Just wrenching.
I was at that show, as well. I also got to see them do their sound check at Nassau Community College. Those were the days.
What a version! Thank you Bob Mould
I can never get tired of Bob or Husker's music, man.
Dave and Bob sound so good together. St Paul forever.
I wish Bob was as successful as Dave. So influential and talented.
What a unit
I fucking love Bob Mould, fortunate to see Husker du handful of times back n mid 80s and sugar was one band I didn't get to see...
THANKS FOR BRINGING BACK THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE !!!!! My fave from Candy Apple Grey, with Too Far Down and Visionary.... Half my life ago, peak of my life, with my first real love... Then years later solo as Workbook, Black Sheets of Rain, then evolution three as Sugar... For more than a quarter century his music always made the soundtrack of my life. Thanks a billion! You gave me a gift without equal for posting this....
So i always knew that death and rock n roll go together since I first understood them both.. but here you have a full blend of the feeling
God bless Bob Mould and Minneapolis!
WOW! Love this song and performance!
I still have chills hearing this.... first time in 86 blew me away....
Increible, no conocía la película, habrá que buscarla, pasan los años, y Bob, cada día mejor, y la versión, increíble, casi suena mejor que en estudio.........
ONE OF MY FAVORITES.....
I heard them play this at Lawrence where Kansas U is located. People were all dancing togetherslowly to the sound like it was a high school sock hop
This song makes me cry and cry and cry
This song is so beautiful
This is just freakin' tremendous....
No one can really describe this in words...
Lovely
❤️
Bob Mould and Dave Grohl. Has a nice ring.
Also, thanks for being so wonderful, Dave
Definitely want this whole show!
Dave Grohl finally achieves life's ambition to be a backing singer in Husker Du ;o) Great song… think they started it slightly too slow...
This is much better than I expected. I avoided it forever considering Grohl has never sat well with my stomach. Thanks for sharing
Joseph Mud Grohl really doesn’t step on any toes here, it’s Bob’s stage. And it’s brilliant, just knocked me out, so had to post it.
The Mould-monster, bloody marvellous as usual, and that Grohl ain't too bad either! Good bass and drums too!!!!
this is epic, this is sad, this is powerful, this is HÜSKER DÜ
Imagine ripping it with Bob Mould. Legend
Beautiful.
Bob RULES!
What a treat to find new songs.
Thank You!
I agree Last Day. Hey Bob It's not to late
❤❤❤
THAT! was Fn awesome. Thanks boys.
Painfully excellent 🤙
Fucking Brilliant!! Saw Husker Du, Nova Mob and Sugar, all memorable great gigs.
Beyond. Been a fan since the very beginning when HüDü and The Replacements were repping St. Paul in the 80s showed the world how it worked. Mould never stopped. Workbook is an opus.
Grazie Bob...non lasciarmi mai solo
Une merveille
Wonderful song !
Pure gold
Epic
My heart stops beating. Has enough. Amsterdam 94. How could you leave me. I am hardly gotten over it now my heart has enough. This life was the sadest my heart is aching. Too far down
emotional or beautiful
melody and song !
Cool, my favorite song from Candy Apple Grey.
Watching Bob Mould rip through his guitar solos and manage to "shred" but in a totally tasteful, appropriate, musical, and often very melodic fashion, is awe inspiring. Sure, there are guys who can play faster out there. Lots of them. Can they write a song this good, too? I think we know the answer to that one. Bob's guitar playing is an explosion of raw energy being channeled into the perfect licks or most sublime phrasing imaginable during the solos in each of his songs. They are an organic part of a whole and the musicianship and artistry on display when he decides to let loose is a beautiful thing to behold.
AMEN
What he said
That's what I'm talking about
as for “playing faster”… apparently you never heard early hüsker dü, especially ‘land speed record’.
SOOO GOOOD
perfection
Love it!!!!
Awesome.
Great!
Hi... I buy this concert but i haven t receive it... Great preview... Great musicians... Great song
O Bob you remind me at DONALD PLEASANCE with your Outfit.Great.
I met him, fifteen years ago. I was told there was nothing left. No reason, no conscience, no understanding; even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong. I met this six-year-old child, with this blank, pale, emotionless face and, the blackest eyes… the devil’s eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized what was living behind that boy’s eyes was purely and simply… evil.
Mind blow. puddle
LOve it!
Just turned my daughter onto Husker Du....pre - grunge. Here's Dave Grohl......to make my point. Love it
epic!
That's wonderful and sad and...
Awesome!
Love you forever
Love Husker Du
