Hey you two. I did this trip with my dog Sally about 30 years ago. I didn't get your weather and my battered tent was ripped apart in winds during the night. I thought I'd lost Sally when she wasn't beside me in the morning, but she was sleeping contentedly out of the ruins of my tent and in a bowl depression in the ground. This was just at the sneck where I thought I'd get out of the worst of the winds. I worked as a ghillie on Mar Lodge from 1988 - 1992 and this film brought back so many memories. Thanks for that. What a wee bonus for me this film is. Tom
Hi Tom, Now that sounded quite epic! Glad everything turned out okay on the end. Really happy that our little film brought back some adventurous memories! Thank you for getting in touch. 😀🙏
I did this on Wed/Thurs this week. I camped 6km up Glen Quoich on Wed evening before doing a long day yesterday. A fantastic trip but v long at 37km! Fortunately I had good weather - wouldn't want to be wandering around that plateau in the clag.
We camped maybe 50 yrds from your bivi in 2015. That night was special (?) for three things; the mozzies, worst night we ever had, going out of the tent literally let in thousands. Number two, the spiders, that night we were surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of jumping spiders, some quite large ! And last but not least the Ptarmigan, maybe 10-15 of the buggers that chattered to one another all night long, we came up with their collective noun that night as a 'curry' of Ptarmigan. Happy days. Tent that night was a Saunders Spacepacker.
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 Absolutely not, we get up to Scotland every other year, though we are very slow up the mountains, often first there and last to leave !
Scottish Mountain Goat Cheers Chris.. just watched your wild camping video.. some really nice shots in it! Windy and an early bailout but, yes.. it’s still a true wild camp!! 😀🙏
Thanks for posting. Always inspiring to watch your adventures. Looking forward even more to my Torridon trip in September. Can't wait to be out there again.
Hey James, Trying to get as much done before David has to go away back to work. Agreed.. plenty space for everyone up that side of the Cairngorms. Thanks again for watching. 😊🙏
Great wee video. Got yourself a subcriber. Just got back into the Mountains, Hills & Outdoors again and loving every minute of it. Just been ticking off some Munros close to home to get me started again. Last week was Beinn Narnain and Beinn Ime, Beinn Vorlich the week before that and Nevis and the Cobbler. Heading up Beinn Vane on Sat morning and really looking forward to getting an overnight Summit Camp over the next couple of months. Cheers 👍
Well done D&L, looked as if you had a terrific adventure and captured the Cairngorms in all its glory. Not a lot of other walkers about which is always a bonus. Cheers, Charlie.
Hey Charlie, Yes we didn’t see many people apart from a few responsible wild campers on the evening. Beautiful views across most of the plateau. Thank for watching as always. 😀🙏
Great stuff mate. I will remember these 2 hills well. Split my head open with my camera when taking my pack off. And suffered an avulsion fracture on my ankle going down the Sneck. Magic drone work. I'm afraid bivvying's not for me. Great watch as always David. Cheers
Is it wrong that I started “sort of” laughing whilst reading that!?! One of those trip where stuff just happens eh! So long are you’re back fighting for again, that’s all that matters. 😀💪
Great video guys. Was in there on Saturday (Aug 1st) doing these 2 mountains as a bike/hike from Keiloch Car Park.First time getiing my drone up in the air as a wee practise shot as well.Look forward to your next adventure.
Have been looking forward of one of your videos - always enjoyable and inspiring. These are fabulous and remote hills - so much quieter than the rest of the Cairngorms. BTW had a go at canoe and camp on island in Loch Maree last weekend - wonderful (except for the midges - think I lost a pint of blood to them at least!!).
Cheers Brian... yeah, slightly tougher to get to than the other side of the Cairngorms means a little less people around. Shame about the midges.. hopefully they did spoil it too much. Really nice exploring those islands, must thank about another visit. 😀👍
Good to see you back on the hill. And another well-filmed and edited vlog. You certainly picked a nice quiet area for your adventure, the northern Cairngorms were getting pretty busy when I was there a couple of weeks ago.
Thank you. No midges, just enough breeze to keep them at home. We try, as far as we can to plan it that way! Don’t always get our planning right mind you! 😀
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 just a joke!! UA-cam has a "the last time I was this early" communal joke if you watch a video right away, and there is a bit of a legend the 9th Legion was defeated in Scotland way way back when (Agricola was one of the commanders). Now I've said all that suddenly it doesn't sound as funny as it did an hour ago. 😁

Thanks Dave.. the rocks were it a nice place to bivvy and explore. 😀🤟
Dave, Loving your post-lockdown films. Here’s hoping for some fine weather this month so we can catch up on a lost summer. Kevin (260/282)

@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 Me too. Off down to the Galloway hills on Sunday/Monday for a wee yomp and a wild camp 😉

Braw nicht to bivvy oot D&L. Surprised you weren't tempted to take the bikes part way in from Invercauld. The Quaich is more picturesque mind you. 😁
We actually wanted to get time on feet so chose to walk. Really nice route as you say. 😀🤟⛰

Last time I was this early Agricola still had the 9th Legion.

@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 great video btw, still building up the courage to have might first night in a bivi.
Thank you, appreciate that!
Don’t think about it too much just check the weather then crack on. Let us know how you get on!?! 😊
Do you buy the eat to summit meals in mass bulk? Every videos yous use them 😂👌 not take your own food ?
Yeah ... need to do a new order soon. Probably look at some other options though. 😀
Noticed they have new ones 😎 do love them for a quick overnighter, but a multi day trip can be a nightmare bit bulky.. especially bikepacking..
5.30 this morning. A superb trip to the hills wonderful memories and atmosphere. Allen bordoley, still active. Thanks.
