    Excellent tutorial, thanks. I paid a little extra and bought the assembly from you because you took the trouble to make this useful video.

    Came here to say your video is still helpful for those of us still rocking older dryers.
    In my infinite wisdom (before your video) I broke a coil on the heating element, and believe I need to replace the idler pulley or motor pulley. Drum wouldn't spin when I plugged it back in. Either way, thank you for this helpful video!!

    I was able to switch out the heating element in my Frigidaire Gallery Series Dryer in 3 hours. Unfortunately, the replacement had to be adjusted after I had already put it in, but it only took about 20 minutes to take out and adjust the heating element so that it lined up with the wiring.
    After that, it was basically a breeze! So instead of spending $700 for a new Dryer, it only cost about $70 to replace the heating element thanks to your video! Thank you so very much!!

    Well done. The dryer I have isn't the same, but almost all the instructions were applicable and easy to follow. It would have been much harder for me to fix it without these instructions.😀

    Thank you so much!! My hubby made it a little more complicated because he took the bearing housing off from inside the drum...then he's hard headed when I suggest to pull up on it because the weight of the drum was suppose to help it pop out..we're still married..LOL

    A few tips.
    Dont take off the 6 screws in the back of the drum. Three hold on the heat shield and the inner three hold onto the bearing mount... you can take these off instead of pulling rhe bearing out if its stuck. Keep track of which type of screws come from where because they are not all identical. The heating element coil is a lot cheaper than the whole heating element assembly. If you have a washer dryer stack, removal of the bottom front panel requires removing rhe bolts right below the panel, then tilt the dryer back to access the screws shown in the video.

    Good video. My dryer has the same dent that this dryer has on the top panel.

    I took my dryer apart, as per your instructions, which were excellent by the way, and found that there is nothing wrong with the heater core. Ran a continuity check to make sure--the heater core is good. So why is there no heat?

      Normally if you are testing the heating element we advise to test it for voltage. You could also maybe have an issue with a thermostat. What is the model number of the dryer?

    Thank you for the video! Since I was in that far, I also replaced the bearing assembly, as well as the belt.

    Good time to replace the standard sheet metal screws with longer, better made ones. The factory versions are too short and very frustrating when re-assembling.
    Also might want to replace the foam donut by fan housing - it'll fall apart when the front housing is removed.

    Does the element assembly come with new thermostat?
    EDIT: Great tutorial, will update quality of parts when I get them.
    EDIT: Just bought element with out assy. Worked great. Now I need a motor

    Hello I have ordered my heating assmebly kit from from you but at 10:23 when I put the front door and push it back, its taking my drum off the support which pushes it close to the heating assembly kit and the motion has friction. What am i missing. Can you show the part of the video which focuses on putting the front door back after the drum has been installed and front support has been placed?

    • @somil84
      @somil84 6 років тому

      the question I am trying to ask is - should the drum be on support of the white plastic support or the rim of the front door assembly?

      Did you find an answer to this? My heat is low, and fluctuates, so im thinking thermostat, or bad coil. Haven't disassembled yet.. thanks.

      I did everything correctly by watching the video and following along. Everything was placed and replaced correctly. My dryer works, and heats. However, for some reason it heats way to hot! After a few minutes on medium heat, I look in the dryer and see the coils are red hot, the dryer has a burnt smell, and the top of the dryer is way to hot to even touch. Obviously its not heating correctly, and is out of control. How do I correct the problem? Please Help.

    My ball bearing seems to be stuck and I can't get it to release.

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  9 років тому

      +Jessica Valenzuela The ball that supports the drum should just lift out of the bearing so you can take the drum out.

    • @timd.8457

      I had to use the claw of a hammer to lift the drum up. After that, it came right out and went back in with no problem. I greased the ball and bearing with a little axle grease.
      Dryer is a lot quieter and turns like brand new!

    should grease the back bearing socket- the tensioner pulley shaft and the motor shaft where the centrifugal switch rides
