idk why people act as if the prime of the MCU was that long ago It was literally like 5 ish years ago. The kids nowadays have at the very least seen Endgame
@@train123z cus it techinically started almost 20 years ago and that would be 2008 so most kids that grew up watching marvel are now adults. Actually not most, every kid.
It really goes to show how bad these movies have gotten when Age of Ultron, which previously was generally agreed upon to be one of the less good marvel movies, is now used as an example of excellent writing in comparison to the new stuff
I think it got worse right after Endgame. But truthfully it began with Captain Marvel. Very boring and also what an insult to Nick Fury's scar all for a joke thats not evem funny.
I miss the old MCU, back when smart writing and funny jokes were normal. I really hope things start to improve after Deadpool and Wolverine. (W vid as always)
One of the issues is a lack of success in nurturing the next generation of writers and directors. All of the greats we grew up on are either retired or don’t agree to work with big corporate businesses like Disney who control their writers and directors and forces the parliament to constantly change what’s meant to be the ideas of one man or team
Slightly off topic and hot take but the MCU died with The Snap in Infinity War. Everything after that film has been mediocre, mid or trash. Endgame was mid and was only saved by nostalgia bait and some cool fight scenes but everything about it was mid, 3hrs for know reason. And you hit it on the nail regarding the treatment of some directors. The original director of Black Widow wanted to direct her own action scenes but Marvel told her no and that the Second Unite directors would be task with that so she left. Something that apparently is very common, even as great as directors as the Russo Brothers are apparently Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame’s action scenes were directed by the Second Unit Directors which imo leaves me a little bit disappointed. And that was in Phase 2 so you can still imagine how much more of a cooperate machine the new MCU films are.
You know I’ve never been able to put it into words but yeah, a lot of modern movies feel almost like a series of edited together trailers, even some of the actual good ones like say Oppenheimer
Yeah back then they used to be made to be films and now what we get are heavy CGI filled, dopamine movies that serve no purpose in their existence outside of making money. Yes, all movies are made with the hopes of gaining profit, but you can normally tell what was made as a passion project and what is downright corporate
I love how you used a scene from "Age of Ultron" to show your point. I've always been baffled why people seem to unanimously hate that movie. I really loved it. Also I think Wanda initially reacts that way not because she's necessarily attracted to Vision, but because he has the mind stone in his head and her powers at this point mostly have to do with telepathy. That may be another pretty cool detail if that's what they were thinking of while making the scene. She was probably initially drawn to him because of the mind stone.
I still think that scene is one of the best from the MCU by how many things it does right. FIrst off it re-introduces both Falcon and Rhodes for ppl who didnt watch the movies that they appear in (like me when i first watched Age of Ultron) and its helps to introduce them so when they appear at the end of the movie it doesnt feel like an asspull, and also it helps to set up their dynamic with Cap and Steve respectively. Also I like the scene of Banner and Widow (and its setup later) and how it downright funny, and the jokes dont interrupt the flow of the story or the tone (Age in Ultron in general is great when maganing the timing of the jokes)
6:06 compare this with how Peter seemed hesitant when Tony asks him to join him. Peter is hesitant, having never really left home and being scared, not in control. Iron heart is just dismissive in a very non believable way.
the best kind of movie humor is the kind that's funny on the surface when you're a kid, but becomes even more funny when you grow up and start to understand adult concepts more. a great example is cap mentioning the high rate of rent in brooklyn. great video dude
Agreed, compared to the other Avengers films the pacing of this film was something that always stood out to me. After gung-ho action they slow down to give the characters more depth and world building. After the hulkbuster fight, the action completely slows down to allow the characters and audience to breathe and absorb the emotions of the characters, then ending at a high note with a huge fight scene.
Despite having a relatively weak plot, Age of Ultron was golden age Avengers. Everyone's together, every character having some small interactions with each other. The team is a true team, and they absolutely nailed the dynamic of the "good times" so to speak before civil war and thanos.
Regarding the Princess suri scene, they've just tried to rip off Peter an Tony, which worked originally in civil war because Peter was a freaking high school kid, where as iron heart ( forget her name) is in college.
@@renchesandsords Yeaah, that's the main reason, I think. We were introduced to Peter's willingness to help others beforehand, so his words weren't taken as him not caring but just being nervous or anxious, whereas Ironheart had only shown a disregard for others....
Everything about Peter in the MCU was extremely annoying. They just ruined the character, made to much trash jokes. One thing what was not that bad - villians in his solo movies
8:28 I didn't realise it until you showed the cut with Uncle Ben, but what he said really highlights why I don't like any modern superhero stuff. They're the wearing the skinsuits of classic superheroes without exhibiting any of the behaviours you'd expect of one. They're just thugs in capes.

I have had PTSD seeing clip of Avengers AOU, because i watched it with a girl i was dated at the time, and it was awful date and she dumped me the next day 😂
The MCU franchise for me died when Thanos took his last breath in Endgame. Everyone, and I mean everyone, got some sort of ending and was the height of the Avengers as a concept. While I’m not opposed to new films, constantly putting the older more established character down in both tv shows and movies to “elevate” the new ones was when I lost all respect. You can FEEL the love, care and effort put into the older movies to truly make them memorable and something worth watching. While with the older ones and tv shows it feels like a team of begrudging writers that have to fulfill some sort of quota with cheap jokes that often fall flat before fucking off to the next script they have to write. I get the same feelings of both apathy and sadness when looking at the decline of both Star Wars and Marvel. Just with more anger as we weren’t eased into the lower level of quality that we experienced with Marvel.
Newer mcu make all of their movies from 1-2 phases feel Oscar worthy. Can't believe I (and some other mcu fans) used to loathe on AOU and Joss Whedon so much. They are actually much better than I remember and The Winter Soldier will be my all time favorite movie ever. Great video man love ur style keep it up :)
I really hope Deadpool and Wolverine brings a new era to the MCU for consistent quality instead of having one project good and 6 of them being bad....Same goes for the new DCU
@blade00000009Windows Decent....Some of the Multiverse rules we're a mess, and I hope the superhero genre takes a break from the Multiverse for a while....But it was a 8/10 for me
Great video. You said so much of what I think about the MCU these days and praised it in al the best ways. I grew up on the MCU like so many other kids and GOD the writing, pacing, acting, production value and character arcs/relationships that grew through time was always such a treat. We will miss the old MCU
Earlier this year I binge watched the entire Infinity Saga and Loki with my grandparents and it gave me a wakeup call and reminded me why I loved (and still love) the MCU. Not only were they able to balance humor with heartfelt and clever storytelling, but they used said humor to enhance how each character acts and how they develop later on. It's rare to see in the modern MCU, but everytime it happens, it's just as good as those early examples. That's why I still watch the MCU.
Hey from one small channel to another (even if ur more than 10x my size lmao) I had to let u know this video absolutely floored me with both the quality of analysis and composition. Audio and editing were bussin no cap og fr, but you took a bold swing by analyzing Black Panther 2 rather than an easy target like Love and Thunder and it really paid off. Your points are crystal clear while being pretty original as I had not considered or encountered most of these points before. Amazing video, keep up the great work
While I agree that the joke about Okoye’s ashy head wasn’t funny, I disagree with the sentiment that she’s never cared about her appearance before and that it’s dumb for her to be insecure about that. The scene from BP 1 where she has to wear a wig is a perfect example of what her true characteristics are. It’s not that she doesn’t care about aesthetic, it’s a commentary on how her beauty standards are different because she was raised in an African society, rich in self-identity and culture, undeterred by colonisation and westernised views of beauty. So the implication that a wig is more beautiful than her bald, tatted head would piss her off, but having her head be un lotioned and ashy, is more in line with what she finds “not beautiful”. Anyways, love the video.
I mean Peter made the "I got school" joke in civil war, admittedly he is meant to be a teenager, but you can understand in both scenes the character is pretty shocked
I remember after Endgame I instantly clocked the quality drop. This wasn't a slow thing. It was glaringly evident but unfortunately all the fantatics wanted to keep mindlessly praising every MCU release and rate it full stars on Letterboxd. If people had actually been critical from the start instead of gaslighting themselves into thinking it was good at the time, then maybe the MCU wouldn't have devolved into the state that it's in now. I have no idea if it'll ever be fixed or if it's just going to remain shite forever until Disney runs out of money and decides to put the whole thing on ice.
I was watching infinity war and literally said " thank God the MCU is this good and not trash tier like all new all different marvel with the offbrand avengers." Then Captain Marvel happened as a prelude to the dark age and the second I saw cap give the shield to falcon I said " damn it never mind rip mcu after this movie." The funny part is I gave it a chance but wandavision and the bucky and captain Falcon show ruined it and I knew it was over. My sister saw the same scene in endgame and was even worse than me she turned and said " you know it's over right?" She proceeded to not watch anything from the mcu post end game to preserve liking marvel she didn't even watch the Spider-Man films after endgame.
This is why they are in these roles imagine getting a summary of lines a day before filming infinity and endgame to avoid leaks I know some of this was freedom of expression via the actors much was actors going with it add libbing tony is always snacking and they worked no tried to stop Robert and they gave up. Rocket and Tony was epic, thor and guardians epic. I even started to like Gimora and nebula its when you give actors a little give its beautiful. I cried at the beginning of panther and that little girl was hella annoying. Spiderman is young but he is so respectful and funny when trying to feel included. Chemistry was great loki getting smashed with punny god line gets me every time.
After Endgame, Marvel's A-team of writers left for other projects and left nothing but a team of wash-out B-team writers who think they're too big to fail.
To me the main difference is that in one he's simply getting recruited for the team whereas in the other people are literally dying and lives are at stake
The mcu was very good back in my day i use to call war macine evil iron man because of the red eyes other than that the mcu is very nice its sad how the mcu is now
I think it's been said but it was Guardians that affected the comedy of the MCU. I love all 3 Guardians films but it definitely changed how they write the jokes for the films.
The points here made were also helped by the fact some dude uploaded the ENTIRE age of ultron vid somewhere here on youtube and the people who watched it got a "Fresh" recap of the movie
Loved the Infinity Saga, that was my childhood and they all came together perfectly despite each movie not being perfect. Thanks for highlighting Age of Ultron. I'm in the minority but I personally loved it more than I did the first Avengers movie. IMO, I think they spread themselves too thin post-Endgame, which reduced the quality of the movies and shows. It didn't help that they kept trying to force diversity into them either. While I don't think Deadpool and Wolverine is gonna lead to any meaningful changes in Marvel and Dianey anytime soon, I'm glad it's a step in the right direction and I hope we get a return to form in the next few years.

She proceeded to not watch anything from the mcu post end game to preserve liking marvel she didn't even watch the Spider-Man films after endgame.
Best title of a youtube video, No Cap, Ong Frfr
I would enjoy an extended version of this
What do you mean "No cap"? Cap is right there, in the thumbnail even!
This is absolutely amazing keep up the great work can’t wait to see more 🔥!
lmao love this. awesome music btw :)
After Endgame, Marvel's A-team of writers left for other projects and left nothing but a team of wash-out B-team writers who think they're too big to fail.
I miss the old marvel 😢
This is the only decent MCU content nowadays, I´d like it have been longer. please 2nd part👍
6:30 I mean Spider-Man did the same thing about homework
To me the main difference is that in one he's simply getting recruited for the team whereas in the other people are literally dying and lives are at stake
The mcu was very good back in my day i use to call war macine evil iron man because of the red eyes other than that the mcu is very nice its sad how the mcu is now
As badly received as Age of ultron was, the party scene is one of the top ten mcu scenes undoubtedly. Just plain casual banter done naturally.
This is the best title of any video ever.
I'm so glad somebody finally brings up the cap and Thor scene from age of Ultron. It was a foreshadowing of endgame
First video of yours i watched. I'm subbing.
I think it's been said but it was Guardians that affected the comedy of the MCU. I love all 3 Guardians films but it definitely changed how they write the jokes for the films.
Got my gyat rizzed by your vid title
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
No drama frfr
That title killed me but this video is 100% accurate and fire
Title got me hooked frfr ong no cap
Title got me here No Cap Ong Frfr
We really need another age of ultron type scene of all the heroes just chillin with eachother by the time Secret Wars comes around
Bruh the vine drops 😭
I clicked for the title, was not disappointed
This is so big brain its crazy
This dialog is a staple of joss's style
Now we have rdj as dr doom....marvel killed my childhood 😢
i wish i could watch these films again for the first time
The first time I’ve seen age of ultron being used as an example of good humour
Dam, Age of Ultron is "back in the day now"
For real though guardians 3, Spider-Man, and Deadpool are gunna save the MCU
