One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed and beautifully performed.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone literally play the whole piece on the G-string before. Brava!
Cos it has nothing to do with what J.S.Bach originally composed. Doesn't make any sense for me.
This is my safe place, whenever i feel anxious or when my mind is a mess i always search for this. It takes me into another world full of serenity. I hope today's generation will appreciate this kind of music more. ❤
I totally agree, my mum used to play this and I always think of her when I hear it. I'm sure she is playing in heavens orchestra today.

Try "Voices of Music" - anything by them, but i'm partial to the "Four Seasons" with the heart-stopping Alana Youseffian on lead violin.
Also, anything by Andres Orosco-Estrada will be top-notch, any novel by either Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett, will also bring you to peace and hilarity.

I never tire of this piece; if I had to listen to only one piece of music for the rest of eternity, this would be it, and I am not only speaking about the piece itself but the performance as well.

Around 2009/2010 GOD meets me with Bach, and this is my very first Bach song I ever hear and I swear the GOD my heart and soul like purged, you know what I mean, and I literally shed a tear after hearing this song. And makes me say "Thanks GOD because I'm life and and You destined me to listen to this song" 😇
Awesome! An angelical fiddler, who masters the piece, a sober and competent ensemble, and an outstanding venue. In addition, a polite audience, without coughing, dropping stuff and having cells ringing. Can't ask for more.

There are pieces that are so devine that you can be the best of the top performers... you just won’t get better than the melody... Johann Sebastian Bach is a genius!
Not to mention that every piece of Bach ends with "Soli Deo Gloria" - Glory be to God Alone!

That was an extremely beautiful technical arrangement of this piece. I've heard Itzhak Perham and midori play it, and and James galway on t flute, but she explores real depth of timbre, expression. And she has a slightly unorthodox technique with the bow, and rotation.

Finally! The mystery solved and performed and very beautifully performed I must say! Air on the G string actually performed on the damn G string! I've wondered for a long time why it was called Air on the G String because looking at the music, it just never made sense. You can't play it on the G string! I wanted to hear it played on the G String! Now I have. It's deeper and quite lovely. Thank you! Such a beautiful performance!
The original was never called "Air on the G String". Bach's composition's name is something along the lines of "Orchestral Suite no3 in D Major: 2nd movement", which is generally referred to as "Air". So it's "Air" not "Air on the G String", which is an arrangement by August Wilhelmj.
People just mistakenly name Bach's piece all the time.
And yes, this is one of the few true examples of "Air on the G String" on UA-cam.

This was not Bach's intention but an idea of the 19th century German violinist August Wilhelmj. In my view, Bach's version is by far, the more preferable starting point.
It absolutely bugs the crap out of me that nowadays all the "Air on the G string" isn't on G String, super hard to find a real one when you just want to listen to it and hear some rich tones coming from the G string.
