Do u have any success stories from people who did the Leveld Programs? I’m interested in their IT program but I’ve seen nobody who went through it and became successful. Also, would u recommend this for someone like me who ultimately wants to head into the cybersecurity Auditing/GRC related fields? I really just need the best way to get into IT/Cybersecurity then pivot from there where I’m trying to get to.
@@ILLWill1027 I’ve had clients go through the course and we get interviews
@@TechTualChatter ok cool that’s good to know. Do u recommend i get the security+ first then do that course? Do u recommend it or the IT course careers program? I’m currently going through the Google cybersecurity course for foundational knowledge and to get the 30% off Security+.
My first cert was Sec+ back in April ‘23, the same week I was laid off. 11 months unemployed, I was offered a helpline Tier 1, which was perfect for my transition into tech. It was perfect. Then Apple rescinded their offer to me back in February.
I have an interview this Tuesday for IT tech support tier 1. Wish me luck.
Goodluck! you got it! do you have any quick resume tips that you think helped you out landing call backs?
Good luck! Do you have any other certs?
Passed the Security+ in December 2023 but still haven't found a job. Definitely tough out here getting your first job in Cybersecurity. Wishing the best of luck for everyone looking for their chance in Cyber
Keep going! Your job is coming!
Taking Sec + at end of the month, I did Sys sdmin, networks and project management for HP 2000-2012, had a break in real estate until 2021 then sold legal SaaS for last 2 yrs…I’m finding it difficult AF to get a role in anything! Currently in Tulsa, seriously considering DFW or IAH! Our times will come 🔥
I’ve had a speaker come into my class that is the cloud architect for Microsoft and he said his first cert was security+. Sec+ combined with home labs.
Everyone telling me to take the Sec+ to get into cyber started to sound redundant and cliche. But they were absolutely right! It really gives u a base level knowledge
🎯🎯🎯🎯
Im switching careers at 38 to pursue a career in cyber. Gearing up to take sec+ before july 31st...my only experience with IT is building my own PCs when i was in High School and troubleshooting PCs after malware/virus infection. Wish me luck! I had to switch careers and this is my other passion
good luck bro i been working night shift for 15 years and needed a change to thats why im taking the sec+ in sept. i wish you luck bro
@FurtureCyberGuy same to you bro, I was an electrician doing heavy construction work for the last 13 years, I loved it but I got hit by a car..between the accident and the subsequent break that followed, my body just wasn't the same when I got back in it
good luck! I have been in IT for 20 years, but not security roles. I finally landed a sec role and liking it so far
Same here 😅
@@1BeardedGuySorry to hear that bro. Stay positive. I just had cervical spine surgery 5 months ago, am still in the healing process. I know i won’t be abke to do heavy work anymore in the future, i am trying to change my career also. I've been looking at videos about Cyber security, I have 0 experience, just been confused don't know where to start some people said do network, some say a+ other said security+…. What website or program you are in and which one your studying?
I'm about to take the comptia security + Exam with absolutely NO I.T. experience.
how did it go?
I’m taking security+ in about a month, and have an opportunity at my current job to shadow and learn from our security operations center while still keeping my current job. Hoping this is a great opportunity since I kind of networked my way in.
As a CompTIA A+ , Network+ certified (CIOS) I think it's very misleading to tell people with no IT experience to start with Security+ , unless you have a degree. Like she said in this video you can have ANY degree and enter the field as a project manager. But if you are just trying to enter the field start with A+ certification and follow the path into Security.
You don’t need A+
Name how many security roles ask for A+? I’ll wait.
My takes are based on years of coaching and seeing people struggle to get interviews with every cert imaginable
@@TechTualChatter If you skip CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications in cybersecurity, you might miss out on foundational knowledge and skills in computer hardware, networking, and IT troubleshooting. These certifications provide a solid understanding of essential concepts like network protocols, hardware components, and system configurations, which are crucial for effectively securing and defending networks and systems against cyber threats. Additionally, they offer practical experience in troubleshooting common issues, which is invaluable in real-world cybersecurity scenarios.
@@MrWelefulBarbering I’ve helped that have neither of that get into cybersecurity
Those certs do no give you any real skills which I why I’m not sold on “certs”
I’ll be honest I went straight to security+ no education in IT or experience. It’s not as hard as creators make it out to be. A+ is useless if we’re behind honest and that’s a lot of money to wasted network is good to know but you don’t need the exam either
You have to know how to manoeuvre the fastest way possible.
Thank you for the input.
And yes definitely good for people who want to know about the basics of CS. In general. Studying for security +
I failed the A+ 3 times smh and I’m ready to just go straight for the Sec+ because WHY NOT ME??!!! 🙏🏾
This is the setup. Network +, Security +, AZ-900, Splunk Core and a home project that you can convey in the interview and you will get a job
🤣🤣🤣get outta here bowtied cyber
Loving the new studio and face to face interviews, keep up the good work
Thank you 💪🏽
What most people are neglecting is in order to secure something you have to know what exactly are you trying to secure (the object).
It's understandable that taking certs like A+ and Net+ prior to the Sec+ may be costly. However, during the process one will "be forced" to learn and become familiar with "the object" to be secured. Besides, getting Sec+ after going through A+ and Net+ materials will make your life much easier. At least you will have the foundation knocked down first.
I think it's an investment. Before you run, you need to know how to walk and before that you learn how to crawl.
This has been proven to be false
This test don’t really make sure people understand the material it’s all memorization outsides of a few scenario based questions
I see your point. However, I never said people must follow the trifecta path. My point is, for someone who has zero IT experience other than perhaps as a normal PC user, wouldn't it be advantageous to know for instance a little bit of behind the scenes as a future cybersecurity professional rather than jump first with Sec+? I know it may be time consuming and costly, but hey Rome wasn't built in one day.
@@MrBoydgo networking fundamentals is the only thing I think they should learn which they can learn that without that cert
I disagree with you on not getting the A+ because if you are tier 1 this certification is valuable if you have no experience. It provides a great foundation for entry level.
Got Sec+ awhile back and focusing on going the AWS route in the near future
Do a lot of good projects
@@TechTualChatter Will do. Appreciate it!
just out of curiosity. What's your reason for choosing AWS over Azure?
@@tahdun5278 The videos and stats I've seen shown that AWS was the highest compared to Azure
Im about to take Security plus this month. I have a AS in cybersecurity and I will start soon an internship for IT. you think I will have possibilities of getting a job in cybersecurity?
Start networking now and do good projects
Getting into Cloud Security, does this path way satisfy as well?
Genuinely curious, I got my sec+ in June and have been doing some beginner labs but now I’m pretty much been studying net+ doing Cisco packet tracer labs and wanted to test out next month. The plan was to get Net and Sec then do my BTL1 cert to then start applying to jobs. Will Net be worth my time and money? I have a good idea of the test objectives but should I just go into BTL1?
GOOD DISCUSSION!
Thank you 💪🏽
Ok so after watching this I need to know what I need to take first the Coursera course or security plus... I need some help on which one is best
@@MrsWhite-wi4lp depends on what your outcome to be. I prefer getting skills before certifications
For everyone who passed the Sec + exam, what materials did you use to help you study? Thanks!
I have the Security+ and Network+ but no work experience outside of labs at homr things. I’ve have had a tough time finding a job. Any advice?
start anywhere. Do IT technician (help desk) or field service technician. build on certs and highlight your resume with cybersecurity-focused aspects of the IT tech entry job you acquired. After a year or two, apply for cyber positions while still stacking up on meaningful certs.
I've been a contractor for 3 gov roles and never had a cert.
I think with sub contracts they may be more laxed
Would you recommend Network+ and then Security+, or just Security +?
I wanna know the answer too lol cause I’m almost finished with network+
@RESPECTLAW_2 I’ve answered a lot of these questions before on the channel
My thoughts are this, how can you defend something if you don't really know how it works? Getting your Networking knowledge is always a good thing.
N+ , Google(Coursera),Sec+ , then you choose if you want SOC or Pen test. For SOC do. blue team level 1 and 2 cert. for pen start with TCM and it will prepare you for EJPT or even OSCP.
Thank you all for replying. I’ll go ahead and knockout Net+, work on the Coursera course, and then take the Sec+. I think I want to go somewhere in Govtech. Seems like a secure area once you get in.
Just to confirm, are you against Security+ boot camps. Thinking of taking a boot camp. The cost is 2600.
Why would you pay that much for a cert you can self study for much less. All you need is the sec+ book and some sec+ practice test.
@@TechTualChatterwhere can I get the book and practice test please?
I passed thr sec+. Still havent been able to land a job. Any direction would be appreciated.
I’m still trying to get my first cert and I heard fuckin hard to land even an internship let alone a job
same. 4 months in
Be flexible to moving. It’s hard for companies to find candidates with basic qualifications in small towns. I moved my family from a city for a software engineer role at an AFB in a small town without having Security Plus certification. They sent me to a bootcamp and paid for my cert.
I plan on gaining experience and getting other certifications before getting a role in cybersecurity. Don’t let the location of a job be a crutch in attaining a job, it’s the experience that matters because it can open opportunities for you.
What coursera course are you talking About?
Google cybersecurity
I also think IBM cybersecurity course will also help through Coursera
Google and Microsoft is the best
I'm at the end of mines really good hands on
Got my sec+ and about 40 apps in. No call backs yet
That’s because sec+ by itself isn’t the answer
@@TechTualChatter I'm learning that. Don't tell you this prior to getting it though lol they will take someone with experience before they take someone with just certs and labs
Hi,
I have just passed my security+ but no practical experience. Is there any way out to getting a job without practical experience?
Yes and no
@@TechTualChatterCan you expatriate further? No one came to the world with experience. How can one acquire the necessary experience is what I am trying to seek for. Thanks

Y’all are naming what doesn’t work without saying what does work
How about you watch the whole episode 😅
@@TechTualChatter I did, wasn’t a lot of new info
@TRE4RAISEDME I guess…
And if you happen to land a job somewhere as an entry level, IN CYBER. You gonna be looking like a fool, when they stsrt throwing you basic stuff with routers and switches from DIFFERENT VENDORS. Wiresharlk, ZenMap, CISCO, JUNIPER , PALO ALTO. And your like
" hmm Idk that yet "' .. lololo. 😂😂
Not really because in most entry level jobs they’d know you never touched the stuff that’s reserved for companies
turning IT into the ghetto 🎪
What does that mean
Stop talking over each other please 😭
But we aren’t..
😂😂sorry thats not a strategy At all !! You cant get inro a entry level cybersecurity job with JuST CERTIFICATIONS.PERIOD.. Complete Nonsense. Another fatal mistale is to have a security + First without a CCNA & Linux Admin foundational knowledge. Im just scratching my head wiith these 2. Lolollol.
We never said all it takes it a cert… did you even watch the episode
Matter of fact if you were familiar with my content you would see how stupid your comments are.
Btw I never held a ccna or linux cert 😉
