  • This is the 3rd chapter of a four part series of our trip to Death Valley National Park. After an exhausting 13 hour day behind the wheel navigating through Goler wash and Mengel Pass, 25 drivers make it to camp by the Rhyolite Ghost Town.
We now have a whopping 60+ vehicles in our group. Big thanks to Pekkle and Karl for securing our campsite! The plan is to slowly funnel through the beautifully scenic Titus Canyon trail in Death Valley National Park. The trail starts just 2 miles southwest of Rhyolite. This trail is "ONE WAY", so make sure you don't try to start on the west side. It's a 40 mile detour to drive around to the correct entrance. There were some surprises on this trail, so go ahead and tune into the episode.

Great video. NPS hates convoys probably has rules elsewhere. The upper end of Titus is pretty.
The canyon cool. Once out climb up on ridge where you exit.
Worth the experience. More fun with other vehicles.
Death Valley is huge. There is a reason roof racks cost $700. They are engineered to take the weight.

it's a good trail! I highly recommend it. Afterwards, you can drive 25 miles North to the Ubehebe crater, and from there you can head west to visit the racetrack playa / Hunter Mountain or you can drive north to go to the Eureka Dunes. I don't recommend the racetrack, the road is harshly wash boarded and the racetrack was kinda lame :P. I hear hunter mountain is nice. The Eureka dunes is worth a visit, especially if you're a hiker.

Jon, nice video. We ran Titus Canyon earlier that same day before continuing to the Racetrack. I also know that group that had the RTT troubles. All the hidden screws came loose and the tent actually slid forward when they came to a stop. No permanent damage and the RTT is way more secure now…

Thanks Russell! We saw a group of around 5 full size rigs that started the trail just before the group led by the Jeep Grand Cherokee. @JonDZ_Adventuring  2 роки тому

We drove up Imogene Pass from the Ouray side then down into Telluride. I think Black bear pass would be more of a test of line choice rather than vehicle capability. One mistake, and it can mean a roll over or death 💀, that’s why I chose not to do it 😇.
I’ll eventually edit the videos for imogene pass, but you can check out channels: Nolo Designs, Honda Pilot Overland, and Borderline Explorer for videos of our trip. Also, the channel Colorado Mall Crawlers has an excellent trail walk through or black bear pass. They take a Cherokee Trailhawk down.
