Thank you for your patience of making the step by step video of removing the carburetor. So many others zip through repairs so quickly it’s hard to see exactly what they are doing.
What a great tutorial. I have a rancher 460 and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to get the carburetor out. He saved me a lot of time in trouble and probably a broken carburetor.
I agree with the previous poster that this was the best video showing how to remove the 455 carb. Your shots were absolutely clear and on target as you clearly stated what you were doing. Thank you for taking the time and effort to share with us.
Great tutorial and information. Was finally able to get my Husq 460 Rancher going again! Getting that carburetor out is tricky, but with this tutorial got the job done with minimal fuss.
Thank you so much for this! I've got very little hands-on experience with small engines and thanks to your video I was able to help a friend out! Mahalo nui! 🤙🏽
Thanks for the video I like that you go into detail on the removal. I like to see you rebuild the carburetor. Most people just replace it with a new carburetor. I like to save money so first I clean them I rebuild, and finally I replace. Like I said I would appreciate a video of you rebuilding it. Thanks again.
Thank you for this video!!!! My 460 Rancher fuel line came undone and I never broke down this new saw yet. It really made it a lot easier for me. Much appreciated!
thank you so much, very helpful video, i watched one before yours and the guy sped up the video to where you couldnt tell what was going on, i liked how you explained each step, so thank you so very much, i can now get my Dads old 455 Rancher running again
Great video. Thank you! Best part is you didn't skip any of the work in the video. I can't tell you how many videos are useless because they skip portions that are important.
Thanks. I work on chainsaws often but for some reason I forgot how this Husqvarna carburetor comes off. Your video was a great reminder. Got it cleaned and the saw is back running 😊
Agreed that this is the best video on carb removal. It also pointed out answers to a couple of questions I had about this horrible saw. I couldl not find a full diagram on the tube routing to the carb. pretty simple but i wanted to be sure. Your video showed where the tubes go. The parts diagram from Husqy shows the lines all cut off. WTF can't they show the connections? Also it was a mystery how the stop switch worked. The quick connector that makes up switch pole number two had fallen out and I was looking for a place to connect it which there of course was not. Pretty clever to use a cheap crimp terminal as a switch contact but confusing if it falls off and you did not notice that it is just stuffed into a crude plastic slot. Again thanks for showing this. I replaced tha carb with a cheapie from Amazon. Hoses and primer were garbage so I had to buy elsewhere. Still can not get the saw (very low use over the years) to run. I used 1 turn for the idle needle start position and 1.5 turns for high speed. I think the cover over the diaphragm might be loose because fuel leaks out when using the primer bulb. Any ideas? I would rather not replace the carb again.
like everything on this saw the cover screws are hard to get to might need to take off air filter holder or ??? i took the original carb apart and it is very simple. it could only be the diaphragm that is leaking of some obvious machining error. might be a loose screw. i should have recycled this saw years ago.
Thanks for the video. My Rancher 455 got ran over/rolled by a UTV a while back. I took it apart to replace the broken components but couldn't remember how the throttle linkage attached to the carb by the time I got all of said components. It seemed like it had to go that way but I wasn't sure since it didn't feel very attached.
Heather- I had to remove the carburetor on my 460 rancher because the choke pull mechanism came off the carburetor. There’s a tiny screw, I believe, that holds the metal bracket to the blue choke pull handle. Any idea what size screw that is or a Husqvarna part number? And is there a spring washer as well?
Great vid! Easy for a novice like myself to understand. Do you recommend any specific sources for replacement Husqy parts? Do you clean the carb, or just replace it?
My 455 has a really long over flow line. And I pulled it out quite a bit. And I think that was the problem is that the line was plugged coming out of the carb. Can I just cut it short stick it back in. My saw is a 2011
Yes you should be able to cut it and put it back in. There might be a rubber gasket when it enters the gas tank that could come unseated when you pull the hose out. If the hose changes sizes when it enters the tank you might want to cut it from the carb side.
onyd6821 0 seconds ago tonyd6821 1 second ago AFTER reading the comments bellow it seems that I am wasting your time in asking some suggestions about my Husqvarna 236 that I replaced with new oil seals and piston and cylinder +spark plug + carburettor+ fuel lines & filter+ air filter +manifold gasket then ....when time to start come it started and died after many days in traying I decided to pull it apart and ... there was a lot of petrol in the crankshaft area ...Can you suggest anything ?
Worse chainsaw I've ever owned the rancher 460. Paid a arm and a leg first use off to the shop. Second use off to the shop under warranty. Warranty expired and not a scratch on it and the chain must have only rotated 100 times. Been cutting timber, pulp wood etc since I was 12 years old now 81. Could be the gas here in California but not in Missouri. Solution? Rather pay a repair shop $150 to tweak it every season spend the $150 on a Poulin that works.
Ethanol ruining chainsaws is what they teach at the kindergarden. I've been running that in chainsaws for 10 years and never had one fail. I've followed the basic rules: fresh fuel from the gas station, mix only what you need and have good fuel caps on anything. It was the chainsaw, not the fuel.

This was a big help! I thought I lost a part on the kill switch connection, but the connector goes straight on the plastic. Thanks for the video.

My Rancher 460 also had a loose fuel line. Mine was on the bottom. Fuel all over the place.
Thank you for this short and sweet tutorial! I appreciate you keeping it simple!
Clear voice. No excess comment. Good camera work. Best part is you didn't remove anything unnecessarily.

I'm not sure if you can get into the carb to try and tighten the diaphragm up or maybe you could add some gasket maker.

Great thanks, simple easy way to explain how to remove carb.
Great video. I was having trouble finding the lower screws to remove Card to replace fuel line.
Cool. Thank you. That looks pretty easy!
Thanks so much! Followed this to the T in order to replace the fuel lines.

Very well done HEather. Thanks.
Appreciate this. I'll be replacing a carb on a 450 which should be about the same and this helps.
thanks, this helped me get through replacing mine.
Just what I needed. Thanks.
Appreciate this tutorial, it has help.
The orange gasket sealant sticking up on the top? should there be an o-ring there instead that fits in the plastic air intake?
Easy peasy. 1 handed even. Nice 👍

Does that safety wire connect to the red plastic switch?
Yes it slides into the groove in front of the metal tab on the plastic housing.
Very helpful. Thank you.
