    I think this is a fair assessment of Sean Foley. I have watched a number of his videos and have found them to be inconsistent, at times, with respect to the principles he is trying to emphasize. I have noticed his advice varies on issues such as wrist cocking on the backswing, forward shaft lean, etc. For an amateur, like myself, that variability is confusing and unhelpful.

    As a former Soldier I think it's easy to over look the fact that the other guy (student/opponent) gets a Vote in any action taken. TW is an extremely knowledgeable/Stanford University Educated golfing legend! Given what is commonly known about TW I am certain Coach Foley was not able to take him anywhere he didn't already want to go. I think that's true of anyone who has achieved a modicum of success in any field. No one who obtains a PGA TOUR OR LPGA TOUR CARD is a "shrinking violet!" Huge sums of money/careers are on the line. When they don't perform well they are DONE! Guys like failed-professional golfer shamblee are acutely aware of that fact! Just how many times does he have to be wrong about any subject regarding TW for people to stop quoting him? The golf swing is not a natural motion. It's hard on every players bodies. Are you aware that Tom Kite, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Sam Snead...all the greats have had hip replacement and multiple other surgeries as a result of playing golf. Golf is a Sport and top players are athletes!

      They had surgeries but way later in their careers. Hank Haney said Tiger hurt his back by lifting too heavy of weights and over trained in the gym with weights. Yes he went to Stanford for 2 years and am told his grades were average at best.

    Sean is not responsible for Tiger Woods back issues. The modern American swing depends on a high degree of athletic training, flat rotation, wider stance, and huge pressure on the trail leg, medial glutes, pirformis, TFL, and illiopsoas, connecting pelvis to spine combined with an explosive rotation. Look at the young players suffering injuries- you can train the muscles but fascia, ligaments connecting to bones.. something has to give. Sean seems to teach more old school, with more stack, hip elevation and lateral shift, with more hand control. . I am an old guy, but this swing is much on my damaged right knee, L3-S1 , and I have more power than I did 20 years ago. Besides, rarely did Jack, Arnie, Ben, or Gary have to quit rounds because of back or knee issues. I would not teach my grand kids the modern swing, and you see more old style from the Euro players. But that is just my crazy opinion. Otherwise enjoyed your documentary!

    Some players it seems are into technical some are not. Tiger woods injury was due to swinging like a manic for 25 years. In the end his back gave out simple. Golf swing is about body rotation and footwork. Watch Hogan and Snead that is all you have to do. Stack and tilt is probably the easiest swing to teach to someone who is not well co ordinated. Its a great repeatable swing.

    I think his teaching using technology was instrumental in evolving the game. I don’t think that there is such a thing as too much information.. Especially teaching a Pro.. Understanding what you are doing wrong allows you to evaluate yourself.. What someone decides to do with that information is up to them .. The player has to figure some things on their own. Having a complete understanding of the golf swing is just how Foleys’ mind works.. I don’t think Foley contributed to Tiger’s injuries.. Tiger only knows full throttle when training and playing.. Butch said he was the hardest worker he ever coached.. Tiger has been playing golf since he was 3yo..Wear and tear is why Tiger suffered injuries… Foley didn’t steal anything from anyone.. he takes successful techniques that have been used for years, and optimizes these techniques with the help of technology.. I think he’s a great coach and an awesome mind for Golf.

    Sean Foley is great coach.
    Technology is important to have muscle memory. The same principles are true for tennis.
    One has to change planes smoothly. It improves greatly, as a fun and corrections that life needs.
    Smooth talks don’t improve. Bio mechanics will further improve with AI. So to implicate Sean as hanging Galileo is not right analysis, remember.
    Scientific study methods will improve, I’m sure.
    And new Sean Foleys will emerge to improve the world not peak performance with better understanding of science and improvement for humanity, just as drugs improvements and neuro science evolution😊

    I remember Sean's over-emphasis on forward shaft lean gave Tiger major short-game yips for a stretch. Luckily Tiger got rid of that motion and won the Masters in 2019 after a few years without Foley.

      @@kevinmccarty157 He's the biggest fraud on the planet. Last February when he driove his car recklessly thru a neighborhood at twice the speed limit and wrecked it, he's lucky he didn't kill anyone!! Drug addict too cheap to get someone to drive his car. What happens next? We praise him and hope such a "great man will recover". Everybody kisses his ass when he just acted completely irresponsible and could have killed someone...Then we make excuses for his poor play. Tiger himself has a hammy issue every time he duck hooks his driver. Now we also have to give him the cover of a new PGA game where he's required to give zero input.
      Never been a bigger narcissist in the game than Tiger. This guy wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire..but everybody keeps kissing his ass. It's sad.

    Tiger never needed more shaft lean, that with all that weight on his left side made Tiger too steep and too much pressure on his lower back.

    • @jm2206
      @jm2206 Рік тому +2

      Tiger wasn’t searching for more shaft lean. He was looking for a “stuck proof” swing. His hips would rotate so fast that his hands couldn’t match his body speed thus sometimes resulting in hooks and blocks. More shaft lean is less handsy at impact. That’s what Tiger was wanting.

Anyone with the number of talented players coming through their world they are bound to have success with some of their players . This guy has ruined more good players than he has helped but with a never ending number of good but struggling professionals they will listen to anyone thinking there is some magic to be found . Stick to fundamentals and learn your swing and tendencies with knowledge how to fix yourself . The magic is in the dirt on the practice tee . Go find it .
