    Love this information. I did know this information and I truly have unfriended and once I get to that point do not care if they ask why I tell them. I have unfollowed some as well. It keeps my page free to see things that I do follow and want to see. Political issues I choose not to want on my page for debates. Thanks for the lessons. I appreciate all the help I can get. 👍🏻😊

      +Ramona Grover You sound like you are ahead of the pack. One of the concerns that a lot of the Seniors have about Facebook is that they can't control what they see and share. It's wonderful showing them that they can customize their News Feed and do have quite a bit of control of what they see and what others see about them. Once they learn how to do it, I can physically see them relax and start thinking of all the possibilities that FB gives them in keeping in contact with their friends and family. I do think as we get older, we realize the important things in life and that's not to please everyone. :)
      Thank you so much for stopping by watching, liking and engaging with us here on UA-cam. I sincerely appreciate it and I know Dad does too.

    Why do people send friend request but act distant and at times even act unfriendly?

    So when I unfriend someone they won’t be able to see my posts correct? I have my posts set to private not public.

      You got it. Just keep it to friends and they won’t be able to see anything. Except your profile picture and cover photo is always public so everyone can see that.

    The Internet people actually need tutorial people as your self are. 66 and joined Dec. 2017. Gee I am a computer tech retired Dec.2019. I asked one question and 20 back, (kidding) Great video. I hope you get a whole lot of hits for this video.
    My question is that lately, the new Facebook was released and I am using it. that's why the 20 questions what menu what arrow. Don't worry, I am doing well with the new one. Now for my question, Is there a new interface for Facebook or is the version another I am using an unauthorized something else? Ah-ha! A good techie question. True you know; if it is only you using it, I think you would also question, no doubt. If so I guess you will have to write a whole new book.
    Yes, or no the both of us will have work.
    Lots of luck and keep up your good work.
    Oh, I forgot to add, you did answer my question on how to unfriend. I will not unfriend, instead, I will unfollow. Thank you so much for this information. One more thing, Techie guy 1988 to 2019.
    PS: I went to your UA-cam channel and your home page was filled with older videos. It scared me because the first thing I thought was, "Oh no she doesn't do this anymore." Of course, the techie guy would notice something like that. But, I clicked on the video page and, Oh one month Yeah! She didn't stop this channel. NICE!

      Hi Gabiel, Thanks so much for stopping by, watching and asking questions. I love that! I hope I understood your question, Facebook has changed over the years for sure and switched out icons and where they are located making a lot of the video tutorials I've done a little harder to follow. There is no unauthorized Facebook sites so I'm sure you are using the most recent Facebook setup. There has been talks about the design changing and once that happens I'll have to really update all these videos. I guess it's a great way to ensure I have plenty of content to put out. lol
      I do still upload videos but this past month was working on some others sites I have for my affiliate businesses so haven't had a chance to upload new videos.
      However, today I'm working on an updated video tutorial that will walk the beginner through Facebook. Sort of like an overview of the site for those that may be overwhelmed by everything they see.
      This channel is my passion and I love teaching the 50+ community how to use these sites so that they can stay connected to family and friends. It's how I stay connected to my dad who is in a retired home and my 5 siblings. This channel is my heart and soul so I will continue to upload as long as I can. If you have any more questions I do have a FREE FB group where I answer questions and will do impromptu video tutorials. You can find it here: facebook.com/groups/SM4Beginners/

    I like to "hide posts from" and what i mean is: I receive a post from a friend but I do not like or agree with the post. Well many times my friend has "shared" this post from another FB page. When you mouse of the friends box, one option that appears is to unfriend or unfollow the friend but another option is to "hide posts from this source." So if this friend LIKES the "Scary Clowns" page, but I do not want to hear anything from Scary Clowns, I can hide posts from Scary Clowns and still be friends with and follow my original friend.
    I consider myself beyond the beginner status but I have already found much that is interesting to me and informative to me on your pages. Great work.

    • @Socialmedia4beginners

      Jerry, you are correct and are a fast learner!!! You got it and explained it perfectly! Facebook is about connecting people and they figure if you're friends then you have things in common so they show you what your friends are engaging with hoping that you will engage also. Of FB also realizes that there are things you and your "friend" may not have in common and for those things you have a way to stop them from showing up in your News Feed. We do have a lot of control as to what we see in our News Feed we just have to understand how it all works. ;)
      So happy to hear that you are learning all about it from our videos.
      Be Blessed and thank you so much for the comment.

  • @Coreenaaa
    @Coreenaaa 6 років тому +1

    I believe this is a little misleading .if someone unfriended me I know because that person who I thought was my friend starts showing up in this suggested friends list. And of course if I go to send them something obviously they’re not in my friends list. so they don’t get directly notified but they will definitely see you pop up in their feed as a FB suggested friend.

    How Can I Add Someone Back as a Friend that I Unfriended..without sending them a friend request???I removed a big long list of my high school friends like over 100..I want to put that whole list of friends back..it would take forever to send each one an individual request..then they would wonder why they were unfriended...is there some way I can put them all back?

    Hi. thanks for this info. I have a small problem. I unfollowed a couple of persons on FB but at the side of my FB newsfeed page I can still see their names and a green dot showing they are online. I just don't want to see what they post or see their names anymore. What should I do please? Somebody suggested I block them but what is the difference then between blocking and unfriending. Thanks again. You have a way of explaining things which I like. Y. Young.

    • @Socialmedia4beginners
      @Socialmedia4beginners  8 років тому +1

      Hi Yvonne,
      The reason you still see them on Chat (that's the green dots showing you who is on FB at that time) is because when you "Unfollowed" them all you were saying is I don't want to see anything they post in my News Feed, however I still want to remain friends with them. Remaining friends with them still allows you to check out their Timeline, chat with them through messages and still communicate with them. It's just now you don't have to see EVERYTHING they post unless YOU want to.
      When you unfriend them then access to their personal profile, private messaging them, seeing what their up to, their photos and videos goes away. You are able to send them another friend request if you want at a later time but at that point they would know you unfriended them.
      Blocking is something you do as a last resort. Blocking means that person can not find you when searching for you, neither of you can see each others profile and basically all communication stops. It's like you two don't exist to each other. When you do unfriend or block someone they are not notified but there are ways to tell if you have been unfriended or blocked so keep that in mind.
      Hope that helped! If not let me know and I'll explain further.
      Be Blessed and thanks so much for watching and your sweet comment.

    To me downloading an app to see if you have been unfriended is a bit desperate. If I'm unfriended I'm pretty sure I won't change or want to change their mine. Most likely if one is unfriended that person is minimalizing their social media contacts, or because we haven't kept in touch or we aren't that close. If they have unfriended me for a specific reason, chances are I already know why.

    • @Socialmedia4beginners
      @Socialmedia4beginners  4 роки тому

      You're absolutely right! It use to bother me years ago but one of the things I found out was that sometimes Facebook was the one that was defriending. I had a close friend of mine contact me asking why I unfriended her and I hadn't. In fact I was wondering where she was because I hadn't seen her in my Newsfeed. Turns out Facebook must have done it without us even knowing it. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • @Socialmedia4beginners
      @Socialmedia4beginners  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Tony, I can't really tell you what to do but I can tell you that messages you send to someone that is not your friend goes to another folder and sometimes they do not get a notification about it. Do you know if the message you sent has been seen or not? If it has been there are a number of reasons that only that person knows why they have not responded. If they haven't responded in a a month or so then if it was me I would probably delete the friend request and carry on with life.

      Jacqui - What a great question and one that's never been asked before. After doing some research it does not appear that you're able to do that. When you post a status it will go out in the News Feed of your friends AND be placed on your Timeline. Of course, depending on how many friends your friends have, your post will probably go down on their News Feed pretty quick and of course days, weeks, months later friends who do come to your Timeline will then be able to see what you've been up to and what you've been posting. Hope that helped. Thanks for stopping by.

      Hi Rev Gillian, unfortunately there is no way to do that at this time. It's either you let friends or no one. However, you are able to review the post that friends post on your Timeline before they are shown and you can choose to show it or hide it from your Timeline. You do that by going into your Settings then choose Timeline and Tagging Settings and where it says Review posts friends tag you in before they appear on your Timeline turn it on. Now whenever someone posts on your timeline you can approve it or not.

They will need to be the one who comes to your profile and click on the Add Friend button. You can try to send them a private message however, it will go into another folder where they may not see it. Or, if you have the ability to call them or email them, you can let them know you want to be friends with them on FB but they will have to do it.

    So this is meant to be insulting and mean? Sorry I don't facebook so when my friends tell me that someone unfriended them I'm like okay. I came from a generation where you tell the person in person. This almost boggles my mind about as much as a guy texting to break up with his girlfriend. I always tell my male friends man up at least tell her straight up to her face. These are truly different times.

    • @Socialmedia4beginners
      @Socialmedia4beginners  8 років тому +2

      You came from an awesome generation!!! I was raised to do the same, talk face to face. I've been unfriended but I realized they were only acquaintances anyway because my true friends are still friends with me online and offline. These are different times and I wish we could go back to those times but since we can't we need to continue to be the example for this generation that is being raised with technology.

    how can you stop your friend, friends from viewing your facebook page? I have a friend that has 2000 friends and I don't want all her 2000 friends to be able to view my face book page?

    • @Socialmedia4beginners
      @Socialmedia4beginners  8 років тому +1

      Hi there Drenette,
      You actually control what others see when they come to your Timeline (your personal FB page). When you go into your Timeline and Tagging setting (click on the down arrow at the top right of your account, choose settings then over to the left choose Timeline and Tagging Settings) you'll see where it says "Who can see things on my Timeline" Take a look at those settings if you don't want people to see what others post on your Timeline you can set the privacy settings to just you.
      All of the post that YOU post are controlled by the Privacy Settings you choose when you post it. So, if you posted a picture lets say of your children and you shared it with just your friends, then those people who are not your friends would not be able to see it on your Timeline. However, if you shared it with the Public then everyone, friend or not, would be able to see it on your Timeline.
      Does that make sense?
      Be Blessed,
      Audrey

      +Awilda Gonzalez What sort of business do you have? I use to do Social Media Marketing for clients before I started training users on how to use the social sites. There are so many answers to that question it would take me a couple days to give you all the ways and things you can do. Since I no longer do FB marketing for clients, FB always seems to change the advertising side of it all the time, I do still follow all of gurus that taught me a lot of what I know. Hey +Willy Taylor are you talking about commenting on what one of your friends have posted or making your own status so your friends can see it in their News Feed?

      or more clearly put a sort of caption on same post

    • @Socialmedia4beginners

      Sorry it's taken this long to respond Willy but I've had 3 grandbabies here and my youngest graduated High School so I've had a house full of people and going non stop. In order for you to caption a post when you share a post be sure to choose the Share button and not the Share Now (Friends) link. Share Now (Friends) link automatically goes out in the News Feed without allowing you to write something with it. When you choose just the Share link you're able to write a post about what you're sharing and then even choose which audience you want to share it with. Does that make sense and answer your question?

    Here is my question. I unfriended an annoying person on FB. How come they can still comment on posts that I shared?

    • @Socialmedia4beginners
      @Socialmedia4beginners  8 років тому +1

      Rick, the reason that person can still comment has to do with your privacy settings on that post. If you shared something with the Public then it is open for everyone to see and interact with. Now if you shared that post with only your friends then that person should not be able to comment on it. The only way a person would not be able to see what you put on Facebook or interact with your posts is to block that person. Once you block someone they can't see your profile and you can't see theirs. Hopefully that makes sense.

    I have a question for you. The answer to this question is very important to me. Here is the question: Can I remove a friend from a friend’s list of friends through my phone? Another word I look at his or her profile and I see that he or she has the same friend as me can I remove that friend from his or her list of friends through my phone?

    Great information, Audrey. I do have a question. I do not want just anybody to be able to see my Facebook. Since you know my last name, could you check and see if you are able to view my Facebook? I bet many other people would like to know how to only allow people you have approved to view your Facebook. Loved this video. You are such a bright, and beautiful person. Many blessings, and much joy...MaryEllen

      +MaryEllen After 60 you're so sweet, thank you for your kind words. As far as your Facebook it is officially on lock down LOL. I was able to find your profile, there is no way, that I know of, to completely hide your profile, however you have control over who sees your images, videos and post. Looks like you have done a great job of keeping yours set to only friends seeing images and posts. Of course your profile pictures and cover photos are always public so anyone on Facebook or not on Facebook, can see those two. All other pictures you control who sees them. I'm actually working on putting together a complete course for Facebook that will go through every aspect of your privacy settings. It will be going live after the Holidays so I'll send you a link to it when it does. :)
      Be Blessed my friend,
      Audrey

      Ok, I have one more question. Does it show the town in where I live? Believe it or not, in this small town of 5,000, I think I am the only MaryEllen, lol. I think you are a very special young lady, and we were definitely meant to "meet."

    • @Socialmedia4beginners
      @Socialmedia4beginners  9 років тому

      +MaryEllen After 60 I can see the city you live in (if that's the same things as the town lol) but you can easily remove that from your About section on your profile. Go to your profile (clicking on your picture/name at the top right of account), Then click on About, over to the left you'll see Places You've Lived click on that then you'll see your current city. You can either delete this by clicking on the X to the right of it or you can keep it but only you can see it. I don't have any of the places I've lived or where I live now on my Profile. Hope that helps!

      +SM4Beginners Hi Audrey! no, not at all. You can use my name. I am not embarrassed at all to ask the simplest of questions, and then maybe again and again until I get it!! lol! I am sure this will help many people. I am amazed at how much I don't know! I went ahead and followed your instructions on my FB timeline and edited everything for super private. I also do not know how to attach a picture on FB. Maybe that could be another video? Thank you, Audrey! Have a wonderful day! Love, Jeanie

      +LeadMeToPeace Jeanie Sweet, then I'll do a quick video and use your name and channel name. Might do it for a Napoleons Idiot Episode with Dad this week so be watching for it. I'll send you a link when it's up. When you say attach a photo do you mean upload it from your phone/tablet to your FB account or to upload a photo you have on your computer to FB?

      +SM4Beginners Yes, Audrey. I don't know how to put a photo onto FB from my computer. But mostly importantly, how to copy a link from someones video that I just watched and want to share it in the description bar of my channel, or another one of my own videos to share. Thank you my friend!

      +LeadMeToPeace Jeanie I finally got that video done for you. Hopefully this will explain it and you'll be well on your way to adding clickable links to all your videos. P.S. you can go back through all your videos and add links to all the channels or websites you wanted to in the past. ;) Thank you again for your question and don't hesitate to ask some more. :)

    You don't take the time to show a beginner how to get to the person's timeline. The words were so small I could not read it when you were showing the timeline, still not clear.

    differences between unfriending and unfollow

    • @Socialmedia4beginners
      @Socialmedia4beginners  8 років тому +1

      The difference between unfriending and unfollow is that when you unfriend someone you are no longer able to see their personal timeline and the things (post, pictures, videos, links) they share with only their friends. If you unfollow someone, you are still friends and can go to their personal profile and view their timeline of all the things they've been posting. When you unfollow someone you won't see their post in your News Feed as they post it but you're still friends and can go to their profile/timeline and view it. Does that make sense?
