The biggest reason I unfriend people is due to no engagement from them. If you make an effort to stay in touch and interact with them and yet they cant do the same ...they're not a friend. They're someone who either has jealousy or they're just interested in keeping tabs on you.
You get rid of the jealousy feeling by facing it and working through inner self esteem. And use their posts as inspiration instead. It's all how you feel about yourself, not what someone else harmlessly does. Be glad there is some positivity from their post at least.
I didn't want my comment to sound harsh but it's the truth. When those thoughts pop up, I have to remind myself too. I also saw lots of content on how to be successful/happy and one big key that they say is if you can't be happy for others, how can you be for yourself (and vice versa)? You can experience this jealous feeling outside of social media too.
Part of why I unfriended certain people is because when we became friends I figured out that we didn't really click and that things were simply not going to work out.
When I was younger, I kept on adding teachers and peers in school I usually don't talk with. I also cleansed my FB with former workmates. And now I regret adding them on my feed. I'm slowly removing most of them and I felt more free to post what I like.
Watching this while unfriending one of my friend. I guess everytime I post about something because we are both content creator. I feel there is a tension happening between us. I admit I feel jealous but now I want to protect my inner peace. Thank you for this video 🥰
Protecting your inner peace is always so important! It can be hard to unfriend or unfollow someone, but if it protects your inner peace it is worth it! You got this!
I've unfriended people because- I'm sick of my newsfeed being full of their 10 posts a day on stupid random stuff. All their posts are about politics. They hash out every detail of what's going on their life. Or they post 20 pics of the same thing just from different angles.
I unfollowed my nieces on Facebook because I don't like them that much as a person. I unfollowed my niece because she was being a spoiled brat when I took her to Disneyland 2 years ago. She was complaining about the weather being too hot in June and she said liked the weather in Ohio better because it's colder. I also hate that I can't even relate to her and she doesn't understand everything I say to her because she's too damn ignorant.
Left off the #1 reason… you’re trying to move on from an ex or crush that hurt you. And their constant updates provoke you or makes you feel forgotten or less than.
Biggest mistake is letting them know what and where you've been! They can use it against you if they know too much. So better not! Block them immediately! I unfriended them anyway. Best decision ever!
@@chonkybenetgods Wow, thank you. I never thought about that, but I also think your coworker and your immediate friends not a very good idea to have them as a friend on Facebook you’ll never know
@@MaryamShamsWayMaryamShams yes! Don't trust your coworkers that much. Put in mind that they will tell someone if you tell them about something. So better choose the right words on what you also tell them. I'd rather open up a stranger than with a friend or a coworker. For example if you work on the 2nd floor, the people on the 3rd to the highest floor on the building will know! Trust me! Better be lowkey or unfriend them right away! And if you resign, better not tell them where you are.
Just leave their request on pending. Or better yet make another account where they all be. And just post not anything personal or a rant about work. 😂 It's like an inactive account.
Even though this vlog is from 5 years ago, you were and ARE preaching to the choir. I just did what I like to call "trimming the fat on Facebook." Usually, I'm the one being unfriended for whatever reason. Lately, I've been the one blocking and unfriending because I'm sick of self-centered wannabe political activists clogging up my news feed with their selfies, political views, and bragging ad naseam. These are the same people, who don't wish me a happy birthday every year and have hundreds and thousands of zealots and sycophants on their walls wishing them a happy birthday, holding a pity party on their walls when pets and family members die, etc. My favorite great-aunt died in late May and my 40th birthday was 2 weeks ago. Those same people didn't send their condolences or wish me a happy birthday because they're too focused on politics and themselves like they're celebrities. I think I may have purged ~10 people. Like you said, it feels good purging from Facebook. Every time I block and unfriend someone, I notice that all the pages I was already subscribed to reappear in my notifications and news feed.
My rule of thumb now is, if they don't even interact with any posts in a year/yrs like at all fuck them they are gone. 😂 I am friends with some of my coworkers on fb, but only a select few.
I have never unfollow anyone and I always wonder why I always get hardly any likes on my posts. Someone told me they probably unfollow you because you post a lot of pictures of yourself. This never occurred to me that people might not like my excessive Fashion Tryon's, and my constant memory blogging. I always like all my female friends posts and pictures bit few like mine and I felt hurt by that but now I understand!
If you don’t really know them, it’s okay. If they’re actually people that you know and have a relationship with you, this is immature and pretty shallow. It’s called “social media”, if you don’t wanna socialize, then maybe it’s just not for you.
The more Friends in Facebook unfriend me, the more my income gets better. This is ironical. Because I started living in real life and spend less time on Facebook. Then, if I lost all of the friends in Facebook, I would've become a millionaire!
I absolutely disagree with number 5. This seems more like a personal issue and insecurity that needs to be addressed. It also depends on the relationship you have with the person whose posts seem to be effecting you in such a way before you go around removing them. Removing people may seem like a mental “cleansing” but it’s also important to understand why. Social media is to keep in touch and an extension of the people you actually socialize with in real life and those who inspire you. Social media isnt a SIMS game and these are real people on the receiving end. If the rule for removing people is ultimately “just cause”... it isn’t that great for your personal growth or the ties around you. It will make the people on the receiving end feel bad to see that their so called friend can’t be happy for them when their content isn’t to make YOU feel bad, but to share their own good times. Unless this person is fake or not a good friend.... then it would make you a fake friend. It’s basically a social media form of leveling in real life by removing those who trigger your insecurity or are “better” than you by evening it out, but that doesn’t make your insecurity go away. Why wouldn’t you be happy for your friend? Why wouldn’t you want to be surrounded by people who are doing better? Sounds like such people need to work on their core self esteem. You can always mute posts for now so it isn’t a constant “reminder” if that’s the case. Use this as an opportunity to work on yourself. Remove actual, deliberate toxic people otherwise you become the toxic person who can’t seem to be happy for others. You should work on your problems not just remove them it would be immature. I’ve lost friends simply because I’ve become successful in my life and let me tell you, that it’s such a BS feeling to have realized who my real friends were. And it was toxic for me to have filter the content I post for a bit till I realized if I’m worried about the good news I share with my friends, I simply need new friends and I should be able to share as I please. THATs when I decided to remove THEM instead.
On a side note: I’ve usually found that those who are happy for me and follow me and are inspired by me are those who mostly don’t know me and many of whom do (minus a genuine few) can’t seem to be and that’s a toxic form of jealousy that comes from knowing the person and comparing yourself with them, which is hurtful to me and awful for them to have to deal with on the inside.
Personally when someone unfollows me I unfollow them too even if it is a friend or a person that I know sometimes people think that you have to post or upload videos of your personal life everyday, is ridiculous how social apps are for some people, I personally I'm not that type of person that takes selfies or uploads videos when going out but others tend to upload videos of almost everything they do lol!! even of what their eating lol!!!.
It's called scrapbooking your life, and it comes in handy when you want to think back on those old times. Especially now that my family is all passed away, I'm so grateful I nonstop took photos and videos with those old video cameras hours of footage. Where would I be if I didn't have that stuff? I'd be like most people going man I wish I would have done that.
YES 🙌 I love how I feel after a cleaning out my "friend" list. Also - unfollowing is pretty handy for those people whose relationship you value, but really like better when you DON'T see their political posts. If I don't talk politics with them in person than I'm going to avoid fuming over their opinions on Facebook.
You love unfriending people? You love being rude to people you either sent friend requests to, or accepted? I understand not wanting to see stupid posts from "friends", but why not just put them on the restricted list, or block their posts for a while? I mean, I get it, there's too much to read and respond to and process on FB, but from my view reasons for unfriending someone would be: - You know for a fact that they talk badly about you or your loved ones behind your/their back. - You find out that they are psychos or into bad stuff. - They knowingly sleep with an ex of yours. - They try to sabotage you in some way. Those are the main reasons for me to want to unfriend a person. Otherwise, I just tolerate whatever crap they post that I might not like, or I just put them on restricted or block their feed for a month at a time, that way we're still friends and I don't come off as a rude prick.
Oh boy do I have some comments here! I personally have been burned by people deleting me without real cause on multiple occasions. #hate You are empowering the deleters!!!! #howcouldyou
Michelle Booth every time you delete someone you hurt them. You’re heartless to not understand that? I hope I don’t see you ever again. That’s why I hate Facebook because too many heartless people just like you that take pleasure by causing others emotional pain.
