Ive just sent this lid back to SBS, i ordered the cardon version. The lid looks great but personnally i didnt find it that comfortable, (I normally use HJC or scorpion) and like in this vid, didnt like it had no where to place my cardo unit and also limited places of putting a go pro on the helmet without buying an expensive clamp from gopro.
Also i found when putting the visor up, it would scrap along the peak with is only going to scratch the visor. For £300 i felt it was over priced for being so limited considering alot of people use intercom systems nowadays and the poor design of the visor scraping.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I've just checked the helmet we used for review and the visor doesn't scrape the peak on this one, but it is close - especially when the peak is on its lowest setting. Best to have it adjusted back for the extra clearance I'd say (obviously for people who decide to keep the lid). Cheers, Tony

Thanks pal, I was going to order the Carbon version too but I think I'll end up just going for a Nexx. xWED 2 instead. Just wish they'd do a full Carbon version like they did with the xWST Carbon Zero

LS2 Explorer Helmet (Carbon), purchased April 2022 , used for appr. 6.000km, no rain. Helmet looks good out of the box, acceptable fit, not perfect but ok, everything works as it should.
Here my experience after 6.000 km:
Air ventilation is without any effect, no matter if open or closed, I could never feel any airflow anywhere in the helmet.
The design of the sun-visor drive is in a way that only one side is driven by the manual slider, the other side has to follow in a passive parallel movement. Nice idea, but works only as new. First problems after appr. 1.500km, the visor starts jamming during opening and closing, it is necessary to help the visor by hand, an absolute no-go. Now, after 6.000km, the sun visor got completely stuck on the passive side and has become useless.
The helmet has a double-D closing system, but the helmet belt was not made for this. After not even one full season, the helmet belt is already remarkably frayed.
After some time I had a rattling noise in the helmet, also when the helmet was off my head and when shaking it. A few days later, a screw washer fell out of the helmet, no idea where this came from. The rattling noise was gone. For my expectation, the safety of this helmet is now not 100% anymore, because I do not know where this washer is missing.
Under the bottomline, this helmet is a one-way throw-away item made in China, produced for the only purpose: to make money. I have disassembled the helmet and it becomes quite obvious, why this crap does not last longer. In my opinion a typical abuse of resources. Better save your money and buy a helmet from a renowned brand. This helmet remains in my possession as an example of "Chinese engineering art".

Thanks for the comprehensive review on this helmet. A member of our team has covered similar miles in the same helmet and has some similar experiences to you. He's going to be posting an updated review on Sportsbikeshop soon and we'll post a link to it here when he has completed that. In the meantime, thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

I got my LS2 on Saturday and love everything (and I mean absolutely everything) about it bar 2 things: the peak and the internal sun visor wobble/vibrate constantly at highway speeds; they’re to flimsy. They need to be a lot more rigid. Never an issue with my Airoh commander. I’m on a 990 Adv R.

    • @induristan
      @induristan Рік тому

Hi there, intending to get a new helmet. Considering this one and the Airpoh Commander... I own a 890 ADV R and am on a 701 Supermoto sometimes.
If I get you - and the review - right the Airpoh would be the better choice? Cannot Testride atm / broken Leg.

Just got the Carbon version. Comfortable but noisy, still. I ride the Vstrom 1050XT so I tried it with varying windshield heights. Buffeting was still there at the screen’s lowest setting. On the first day with it it was windy and gusts of crosswinds would buffet it a bit. Maybe the peak was catching the wind, despite the airflow cutouts?
I also fitted a Cardo Packtalk Edge. It was easy enough to fit but there are no recesses for the speakers, so it was a matter of trial and error locating them so they didn’t press against the earlobes.
The Pinlock visor worked well too as the morning started off cold and foggy. It didn’t rain so I couldn’t test how well the visor sealed against rain ingress. In comparison my AGV K5S leaks like a sieve around the visor.
The carbon comes with a “road” kit so I can remove the peak and affix blanks to cover the peak mounts.
For $600 AUD or 312 UK pounds it’s half the price of a similar Arai or Shoei that I was considering at the time.
Finally, the chin strap locking clasp on the cheaper fibreglass model was something that I could not get to lock in on the lid that I tried. But that was me. AGV’s implementation on its K3S which I also have was much easier to use.

I pre ordered a KTM version of this helmet and reading the comments I might have to cancel that pre order 😬 I recently had a good X-lite X903 carbon which I cracked during a crash and was looking a replacement but I don't think this is it 🙈 good review but the lid does look very cheap and seems to have issues and I'm not a fan of that visor lock system looks like it would be a pain with gloves on

I just bought the LS2 Explorer from Ebay, after removing the inner linner for a wash, i re-install as the instruction manual. Problem after wearing it, when i remove the helmet the inner liner pin/button will come off, and everytime if have to refix it again. Which is inconvenience. Problem there is no slot for cardo speaker.

    Hey guys,
In India, there is the explorer fibreglass helmet, but with double d rings. The indian version is 1460+-50. The European version with the steel micrometric is 1550+-50. Is the weight difference due to the micrometric, or is it due to maybe less protection in Indian version? The indian version models as of now are ECE2205 and the European ECE2206.
Please note I am talking about fibreglass version.
    Thank You!

Damn shame that it seems to get some negative feedback. It looks lovely in the black carbon.
I have a neotec 2 and fancy trying something with a peak on my adventure bikes, but even the more expensive ones seem to have their drawbacks and seem like a downgrade from my neotec.
