I use only 256gb Sandisk Extreme for this camera as it consumes space at double the rate of the Hero 7. If you are like me, I try to never turn the camera off when I’m out as you can guarantee that’s when something will happen and you’ll miss it. You will require 2 x 256gb cards for a full days riding if you’re on tour.

I use either 128gb Sandisk Ultra or 256gb Sandisk Extreme SD cards. (I find the quality equally as good whether I use the Ultra or the Extreme cards.)

Thanks for the brilliant review.
Ordered this helmet a little while back and it comes soon. More positive reviews is keeping me happy with what I chose and even more excited to get my head in it.
I’ve just come back from a couple of nights away in the Galloway forest area and it performed very well 👌🏼
@@motomogul Hope you had a swell time. Cannot wait to try this out. How do you find the smoked visor? I’ve ordered the Gold/Iridium tinted. (I love riding in the golden hour but can hardly see because of the low sun) hoping this and the slide down sunnies will help.
@@MV-vv7sg I had a great time thanks. The visor is ok in the light smoke, in strong sunlight I can use both visor together and I can see to ride 👍
Thanks very much for an informative review.
Very good vid, thanks!
Thanks mate great review watched yours and peakys review just got the carbon black version
Cheers bud. They’re a great helmet. If you have Cardo you may need to widen the speaker recesses. I think I mentioned that in the video 👍
Nice helmet, I run with ear protection as well and find that it enhances the sound quality of my Sena and Cardo headsets. Fiddely screws and a visor that does not rachet up and down might be a deal breaker.
It’s not too bad. Planning ahead to make sure you have the correct visor on should avert that issue. The light smoke visor i have on covers a multitude of different conditions.
Thanks for the heads up on the new model and slight feature differences. The new model isn't available in Australia yet.
👍
Excellent review, thankyou. Seems like a superb helmet. I notoced your Richa kit, how do you find that gear performs?
Thanks Mike. The Richa stuff is really pretty good. Very comfortable although this suit is the Cyclone which is woven textile over goretex, which does hold water and although you stay dry, you get cold. I’m due a new suit so opting for the Atlantic which is laminated goretex and sheds the water. More expensive but worth it 👍
Should I get this helmet in this color as a dual purpose rider? Mainly dirt. It looks like a F1 helmet. Maybe it's a bit much for a dirt helmet but it is too cool. Great review. I found one for $350. $450 is too rich for me.
Only you can answer that one, I don’t know what you’re used to. Make sure for that price that it is the updated version if you plan to fit comms such as the Cardo Packtalk, as the older version has no speaker recesses 👍
Lucky for you
Great review. I have just bought this helmet my self but not the carbon version. In the description of the helmet it says that there is no space for an intercom. I see you have the Cardo intercom in your helmet.
Did you have to make room for the speakers, or is there enough space without having to modify the inside of the helmet? I have Cardo Packtalk. It would be good to hear your experience with it.
I use a Lexin G-16 com on the LS2 carbon, this is my second one (purchased from Amazon). No problem fitting the com.
I only found one place to mount it, which puts it pretty far back and awkward to use while riding. Compared to using the lexin f4, which was glued on (fell off 3 x's), the G16 fits much better, sound is very good.
Two issues I've had is the drop down sun visor mechanism is terrible (both helmets), and wind noise. I don't ride without ear plugs.
LS refused to do anything about the sun shade not working. It couldn't be fixed. Amazon provided a second helmet for a restocking fee.
I had the same issue with the sunvisor my self. I was riding on some dusty gravel roads and the visor jammed solid. I talked to the shop where I bought the helmet and they advised me to use compresed air to clean the visor mechanism and it worked. So now I can open the sunvisor again. But it's a low cost helmet so that is what you get. But at the pluss side I think the vents worked very well.
@waynebrunner1826 My sun visor is still ok at the moment but I think the quality of the visor lens, vision wise, is a bit cheap. I find that the helmet is quieter when my head is in full wind flow with a sports screen on the bike 👍
Hi there thanks for your review I’ve got carbon explorer I’m needing some more information on how did you make room for speakers as standard recesses and useless
Thanks in advance
Hi buddy. I just used a sharp scalpel to widen the recess. Use the speaker as a gauge, cut around it to the depth of the speaker and then undercut the polystyrene. Go slow, take your time. Hope this helps 👍
Great video thanks for the info on this helmet would you describe the fitting as snug or tight for the size you wear im looking to buy one but my local biker store don't stock this model so i can't try it on, im 58 cm and can't decide to order a medium 57-58 or large 59-60cm
Also your commute to work has some great looking roads and lovely views 👌
Thanks buddy. I’m 58cm head too so I’d go medium. That’s what I bought and it’s really comfortable. They are tight to put on and take off so I pull my buff up over my ears for that otherwise it feels like it’s trying to rip them off 😣😂👍
@@motomogul that's great thanks for that really appreciate the reply I'll go medium then👍👍🙂 take care and good luck with all your future videos 👍
Thanks great video, is this a 2023 model?
Thanks Carlos, as far as I know this is the latest version of the helmet.
Hello, you mentioned the previous version of this helmet. It didn't suit you. In the same size, is the old or new version smaller, tighter? Nice video, best regards.
Thank you. The previous version seemed wider ear to ear (too wide for my head) but tighter from front to back, so it seemed to place a lot of pressure on my forehead. Also, there are no recesses for speakers if you have a comms system like Cardo. Hope this answers your question 👍
@@motomogul Thank you for your answer, I understand what you mean. This is very helpful. I wish you a lot of grip.
mi również się podoba ;) Pozdrowienia z Polski ;)
Dzięki Łukas. Masz jeden? 👍
i want to use this helmet for riding a jetski in cold weather, so I actually want to avoid wind circulation and the inside getting wet.
Do you think this helmet is effective at retaining heat and keeping water out if the vents are all closed and the shield is locked down?
I wouldn’t recommend it for that use.
Is the fit similar to the normal ls2 explorer carbon? Because i tried my friends one that is the old one "not Plus" and it fits perfectly
I didn’t like the fit of the previous edition. It just didn’t feel right on my head. I would recommend you try before you buy if possible. If not, buy but leave the labels on and return if you don’t like the fit. 👍
Where can you see if it is te older version or the last one? Even the SL2 website doesn't mention a "plus" model, just explorer carbon or simply explorer. Maybe the older one was still 22.05 certified while the new is 22.06? Best regards from Italy @@motomogul
I heard with cardo installed, rider's ears gets squished every time you wear it?
Not that I’ve found. I did make the recesses larger to accommodate the speakers but it’s quite comfortable 👍
what size speakers did you fit in the helmet? i have 45mm JBL speakers, would they fit?
Possibly. I just used the standard ones that came with the PackTalk but they sound about the same size.
@@motomogul thanks, I think the standard ones are 40mm, did you have to cut the foam in the helmet to fit your ones?
@@AldredsquashUk Yes, the recesses are way too small.
@@motomogul thanks for the information, much appreciated 👍
Did have cut out intercom speaker slot?
I extended the speaker slots as they weren’t quite big enough to accommodate the speakers
hello
What chin mount are you using please?
It’s the helmet specific one from Chin Mounts. Word of warning, don’t trust the glue pad it comes with. Buy some of the GoPro 3M glue pads and cut them to fit the mount. Mine peeled off under the weight of the camera and had to ride one handed holding the camera up when I was touring last year.
Can spectacles be worn with this helmet.?
Thanks
Yes 👍
Whats the Ls2 helmet like in heavy rain
It’s pretty good but does have a tendency to steam up parts of the visor if the humidity is high. That’s because the ventilation isn’t brilliant.
How is the comfort with the intercom?
It’s good now but I did have to modify the speaker recesses so the speakers fitted flush with the shell.
@motomogul I have read that the intercom mount interferes with the control mechanism for the internal visor. How did you get around this ?
@@gordonhan2158 I just used the sticky pad to mount rather than the clip.
@@gordonhan2158 I saw other reviews and they just install the intercom further back (quite awkward position). It’s really absurd a company design a helmet nowadays without ensuring compatibility with most popular intercoms)
@gordonhan2158 I have the LS2 Challenger and even that has the same issue with a tuator for the sun visor. I used the sticky velcro mount instead of the clip.
Oh dear, there is coffee and milk in the fridge, I forgot to bring it 😢
Watch your speed your on camera 😅
Wind around your helmet 😅
Keeps things fresh! 😅
