As a professional carpet / rug cleaner this a very good video. It's all you need to know. I like that he did point out that woollen carpets are different. If you're cleaning wool, especially Persian, Oriental, valuable rugs then you need professional advice. Bravo.

You might be able to get it at Walmart but unless you're in a massive house you wouldn't have space for that giant thing. Neither do a lot of people have a giant garage where you can pressure wash and flood your entire carpet.

As someone living in apartments all my life - never owned any of the tools that you used 🤣 that huge hoover that's specifically intended for carpets - I would call that professional equipment, actually. I wouldn't own one unless I had a huge house full of carpets or worked in professional cleaning 🤷🏻‍♀️
How about a video on how to clean your carpet in an apartment with wooden floors, meaning no flooding stuff with water and no bulky equipment 😅

@@ElenaVexlerany self car wash usually has hot soapy water you can use. Or you can just buy a tarp and id highly recommend a brush on like a broom stick so you don’t have to scrub on your hands and knees and do it outside. That’s what I’m doing. My rugs already rolled up because it got wet and almost ruined my floors. Totally agree though this isn’t like a quick thing you can do in a day. You need planning and time and good weather to ensure your rug dries outside before you bring it back in and ruin those wooden floors. I’ve gotta clean mine but we’ve got some rain coming tomorrow afternoon cause of course we do when that’s the time I was going to do it haha 😬

Please be careful with power washing rugs at a car wash - I just watched a video where a woman ruined her beautiful wool rug at the car wash and had to hire a professional. Her gorgeous rug was moldy (from car-wash rug cleaning advice she took from YT / TikTok ) and it took hours of professional restoration because of the bad advice she received. 😣
Most of these cleaning devices aren’t that expensive and are a great investment if you want your place clean while saving a ton of money on hiring professional cleaning. I have a Bissell upright hydrosteam and a portable shark upholstery cleaner - combined, both of these professional devices are slightly under five-hundred. I love my floors and upholstery clean all the time - especially to prevent microbial growth, dust mites, allergens, etc., so it’s worth it. Using these devices also makes for an amazing workout. 😎

This is a first class video and has given me what knowledge I need to do mine. In the past I have always put carpet cleaning liquid into the washer and never rinsed with clean water ( although I never like the idea of not rinsing - dishes or anything else ) and, of course, as the video says, you leave a sticky soapy residue behind, thus your clean rug is filthy again in no time. I know what to do now and am very grateful. Great advice and a very well presented video.

You could just hire a pro rug cleaner too, that might be cheaper than buying the new rug
