@@loosey5 he said if you trained to the max to the point of being sore you will get lesss training hours than the guy who train at 75% of his max. Because that guy will need less recovery time, use less energy (mental and physical) and therefore will be able to spend more time at the gym. Only train to max once in a while to train your nervous system.
Dustin did this to khabib (because conor also used it and was able to stall him some.) but khabib improved used it to take Dustin's back multiple times.
It's funny how fast strikers gas while wrestling and vice-versa. Shane with super heavy breathing after 30sec of grappling. I wrestled in high school and had great endurance. When I picked up boxing in university I could barely go two rounds.
@@alialtinel2960 Maybe, but I've seen this happen on many many occasions and have always been fascinated by it. You think good cardio = good cardio in anything you do....not the case
3 years in wrestling and 10 in Jujitsu. What I always used to stop that takedown was use my forearm against their chin. Not as a strike but to turn their face away from me and possibly get the choke as well. I also realized, after awhile, that the sprawl doesn't have to be as exaggerated -- putting my legs back just a little and putting the forearm out was always enough. This underhook in the video I never did try but it looks interesting.
Anyone can counter something if they know exactly what's coming. If you mix up your takedowns or fake different takedowns, they'll usually give you an opening by trying to counter something that isn't there.
You both provide great coaching and we benefit from your hard work over your lifetimes dedicated to competitive fighting and self defense. These videos you make get saved and watched over and over again by people that are working on perfecting the techniques. It requires lots of practice drilling and eventually light sparring and then harder sparring and then competition stages to become instinctive and pull these techniques off as cleanly and efficiently "under fire" as you demonstrate them. I have an old brain and old body so it takes me lots of drilling reps to rewire...but it is very satisfying when I achieve progress in the application of any technique. I like the escapes and defenses a lot.
BJ Penn was in my opinion the first guy to mix it all together the best. The way he flowed with his transitions to his ground and pound to his submissions was seamless. You see a lot of guys in MMA utilizing the techniques he was really doing before anyone else. It's a shame a lot of the newer fans can't recognize the skills he had in his prime because of his record and fighting way past his prime. Good to see Firas giving him his credit.
Great video. I like to sometimes instead of using your 2nd arm to lift them, instead use the 2nd arm to cross-face them, forcing pain and distance, making it easier to lift them with one arm.
Groin power punch x2, Knee into groin, Thumbs deep into eyesockets, Elbow and Chop the throat & End it with a propah 'soccer'kick to the head. A combo that rarely fails to neutralize ..
Great video Shane I always click the vids when u have some high caliber people on here learnt a few important details here thanks alot. I like how firas noted exactly what to do and why. it's sort of like the invisible bjj, stuff you don't realise till its happening and too late. I think you and firas could/should break down tatsumishi wada he has a good unusual style.
This is a cool technique but my question to Firas and you Shane is what stops the person from pulling their left hand once you drive in your second hand and just shooting a single leg and running the pipe on your left leg as opposed to trying to go to the back? I’m curious because I want to play with this concept
Hi Sir, I am from India, want a sujjestion from you . Between Judo or bjj Which I should choose for real life self defence scenario and for overall improvement. Please sujjest .🙏
Hands down my two fav coaches, you two need to do more collabs. Firas is one the best coaches of all time
that dude is a geniuos in my humble opinion. when he explained training being sore on Joe Rogan I had never heard more common sense in my life!
The best advice for real, it applies to so many areas of life.
yeah dude Firas is on another level when it comes to Jiu Jitsu
can you give a brief summary of what he said?
@Daniel Mejia lol

Tony Furgeson, the type of guy to take this tip and use it against Khabib.
to teach this to khabib
Lifeless Corpse 😂
He actually seems to be the type of guy that uses youtube to learn mma looool
Tony furgeson is the type of guy to take this tip and ignore it so they can call him tony the type of guy

Firas Zahabi channel really dope. One of the best trainers in MMA

They were saying they did sparring and some jab drills before this too. But you're right
AABradyKK when he has a guest in the gym. They usually shoot videos all day.He was breathing heavy talking in the beginning.
@@alialtinel2960 Maybe, but I've seen this happen on many many occasions and have always been fascinated by it. You think good cardio = good cardio in anything you do....not the case
Very insightful observation. I have noticed the same. Maybe endurance is activity specific 🤔
@@AABradyKK Yea i do boxing sparring with footballers they have twice the cardio of mine but when it comes to sparing they gass out in 1 round, funny.

Thanks for the tip, I'm going to try that at this weeks rolling session.
It's called a crossface
Thanks for the tip bro
It's quicker, too.
You need sprawl hard if your opponents shoots aggressively.
Love how he switches with you right away to instruct and get you to practice - a glimpse of how awesome of a coach he is.
Right? Love Firas.
Clear , concise one of the best coaches.
Word up Shane, all the best from England!
Coach Firas is a legend!
Wow. Great work getting someone like Firas to be on the show. You got a lot of pull and I'm amazed at how far you've come.
Good stuff, wall wrestling is a very interesting and unique aspect of MMA unlike most forms of wrestling that take place on an open mat
But how to counter that? LoL, all my sparring partners are watching, and I'm the wrestler of the group
Single leg to leg drag, or inside trip, is my go to as a BJJ nerd who can't wrestle.
@G The eye poke is the second best, no doubt.
You knee their head when they dive for a takedown

so exited for the content with firas :)
Great lesson. Thanks to Shane & Firas Zahabi.🤙

Love Firas he’s an excellent coach!!!
That dude explains really well, he should do more of it!
That was outstanding. So simple, so concise. Love this channel!
it's crazy how firas knows so much about each discipline. fucking beast.
One of the best coaches in the game, I’m talking about you Shane! Firas is great as well.
Aw shucks 😅 Haha yeah right
I'm so honored to call that man , my coach
It must feel awesome to train with a legend like Firas, let alone make an instructional video with him
Thanks shane for giving all these advices to fix techniques and learn how to do everything correctly. So much respect shane! And bully sucks
Firas Zahabi is amazing. Love these videos and Shane's enthusiasm about passing this knowledge on to everyone else.

I'm a simple man. I see Coach Firas Zahabi, I click immediately!
Firas Zahabi is one of the best BJJ/MMA coaches in the world in my opinion.
You throw a 1000 video of coach in one day and I'll see them all in a day❤️
Gotta love Papi Zahabi
Hopefully we can see you fight again some day!
Please make more of these you guys are great
Hey Shane, been a fan for a while. Thank you for creating such high quality content for everyone to enjoy.
If Firas, the coach GSP and one best best MMA coaches of all time, is teaching you how to defend the takedown? You know it's golden tips.
Firas looks huge lol
I noticed that when we were sparring 😅
@@fighttips how tall do you think he is? Guys an absolute legend
gimmetheloot.exe I think 5‘11

Thx Shane Thx Coach Zirabi
Very slick move. Can't believe I never saw this before

The master...thanks for the knowledge shane...🙏
Great stuff shane. Thx bro
I see Firas I click 👍🏻 Ty
Me too
Firas Zahabi... you're a very lucky guy Shane , and you know it.
Wtf firas is a beast

I love whenever a guy snaps his fingers before showing me a technique. That's how I know something important is about to happen.
Keep an eye out for Brendan Loughnane fighting on PFL
I was waiting for this video!
And If you have some takedown defense videos, I would like to watch it.
(I'm sorry for I'm not good at English)
MORE. I NEED MORE
Take on Khabib with this move, Shane. We believe in you.
Very good dl defense.
Groin power punch x2, Knee into groin, Thumbs deep into eyesockets, Elbow and Chop the throat & End it with a propah 'soccer'kick to the head. A combo that rarely fails to neutralize ..
You really got firas in your garage. That's mad
DAMMMNNN YOU GOT FIRAS????
Can you post the sparring footage?? That would be awesome!!
Oh it's coming 😉 We were throwing, too!

Can you do a video on takedown defense but not against the cage please.
Great vid, do u have any videos on head movement in boxing?
Takedown vs muay Thai part 2
Good tip thanks guys
Ferguson must see this movie
Uiiiiy -Shane 2019
Awesomeeeeee
CroCop was one of the best at stopping TDs..
I am like is that firas ? ohh yes It is
And I've seen a wrestler when they sprawl they moved to the side (right or left to reduce the drive of takedown)
Great content !

Khabib after watching this video: well I’m gonna lose this belt!
nah, Conor did this and defended for a bit, but Khabib just kept attacking in many different ways
space cat yeah I agree with that but it was just a little joke.
This is unreal
This must have been amazing! One of the best coaches in the game, theres a reason after going to him Kevin Lee nearly Took Gillespies head off
Shane. Dont forget the whizzer!! Lol
ye man the heavy breathing makes me tired from watching this xD! nevertheless this collab should happen a lot more recently, great vid Shane
Get Phil Daru on your channel!
Good vid, gents. ✌
Two amazing trainers in one room. Shit. What's better than that?
Is the wall at your back important in order to use this technique?
Yo Shane tell me what is your favourite martial art
watching this
Конрад Дюселдорф ok ye what is you’re favourite
Nice!
So how you defend it when there is no wall behind you?
100:1 like to dislike ratio so far good job
Epic Collab!
what if you aren't leaning on the cage?
I've seen a wrestler post one of his hand out and the other arm is lower to prevent a take down. Does that work , Shane?
I just thought of getting one underhook them tripping him over your leg
It is so interesting when Poirier made the same move to defense Khabib at the first round in ufc. Somehow it didn’t work. Khabib is just too talented
Would this work against colby or kamaru?
You forgot to use the overhook both times you tried the technique :)
I noticed the same thing upon watching the footage 🤦♂️ I kept thinking "head pressure". My wrestling needs a lot of work!
Alright know what if you don’t have a cage behind you, ik you can sprawl but which would be easier for a beginner to time it correctly

U will get right Elbowed doing this. Plus Al tried doing this against khabib nd get just pulled the right leg back
Hmm...
Firas now trains Kevin Lee, Khabib mostly goes for fence takedowns
This makes the matchup a little more interesting
Khabib would fuck Lee up.
And you can do Uchi mata 1:08
Why is he morpheus?
