Was just gonna say. I'd say this one still hurts the back a tiny bit, as laying on the belly tends to do, but it's a hundred percent the best alternative to bent over rows.
Same. I recently swapped from bent over rows to prone rows after I got a bench for my home gym, and it's such an improvement in terms of keeping my lower back from getting sore.
I can feel these in my back more than I ever did with conventional rows. I had to go down in weight because you can't put any english in to it; you either can lift it or not.
I used to do this with cinder blocks, picnic bench and an old metal broom stick w 2 gallons of water on each end secured with duct tape Great exercise cheers BDs🤘
I know this video is a Yr old I hope you can answer 2 questions 1 when performing this movement should the bar come up to chest or bellybutton? And 2 does grip matter like when holding the bar should my knuckles face forward to my head for best results
Alan Thrall has a special bar and bench for this exercise Whould it be also better to use dumbbells as you can get more range of movement if you haven't got a specialist bar
You can also perform the same variation at least twice a week and change it up in a later week of your programme if you start getting tired of a certain compound / want to hit a slightly different part of the back
Myself personally it depends on your training cycle when I am doing strength training (1 to 3 reps) I stick to deadlifts and bent-over rows and alternate between the the two I'm doing my hypertrophy training ( 6 to 8 reps) myself personally I would do both t-bar and prone row
wow i have been looking for a great bent over row alternative,( chronic low back injury) and this is the answer!! Thanks Guys!!
Third
Great for people with scoliosis who might be cautious about incline dumbbell rows and bent over rows!

We always called them seal rows; it's one of my favorite back movements. Great video!
Looks tuff ima have to try it out at home
They're called Seal Rows indeed
This looks good and I would do it if I had my own gym. Seems too cumbersome to do it at a commercial gym though.
Looks cool, but I don’t want to be that dude in the gym taking all the 45s
Yeah hogging all the plates like that isn't cool , good exercise but u can do similar exercises with the same results .
Could use some of the smaller boxes that people stack for box jumps/ calf raises etc
@@SpeedStrengthJames they'd snap in half lmfao u break your face and your gym membarshep
Lmao.. me either
I do these because they save my Lower back. Bent over rows tax my back too much.
Same. I recently swapped from bent over rows to prone rows after I got a bench for my home gym, and it's such an improvement in terms of keeping my lower back from getting sore.
My back got Huge by doing this, way Better than machine or standing
I can feel these in my back more than I ever did with conventional rows. I had to go down in weight because you can't put any english in to it; you either can lift it or not.
Cool video, nice looking exercise, zero chance I'm actually going to do this.
Nice 😬
Isnt this excercise called a seal row?
Yes. this is a seal row.

Great exercise cheers BDs🤘
Did you also chase chickens and beat Apollo Creed?
@@mgg4142😂👌🏻
Better to load the bar with tens so you can allow the barbell to get closer to the floor and you can get an improved range of motion.
I use an incline bench
Great exercise instead of elevating the bench with plates I just incline my bench to 30 degrees and do it like that.
I know this video is a Yr old I hope you can answer 2 questions 1 when performing this movement should the bar come up to chest or bellybutton? And 2 does grip matter like when holding the bar should my knuckles face forward to my head for best results
In the future could you do a sandbag workout ?

Just take the silly little step things rather than plates.
Great exercise
Wow cool. I might not have to stack up weight my gut might give me enough hieght. Lol😂
Hey Hudson, is the superhero programme going to be a UA-cam video series?
Yep! Working on wrapping it up now
Hahaha great Bruce Lee imitation at the end XD
When doing these variations, should i do the same variation three times per week,or could i do T-Bar / Mon,Bent / Tues and Prone / Fri?
You can also perform the same variation at least twice a week and change it up in a later week of your programme if you start getting tired of a certain compound / want to hit a slightly different part of the back

Super.
Better than the T-bar row? Maybe...but I'll just do the T-bar at my gym cuz there's a machine for it already.
Need more day in the life and food videos
could you do something similar with an incline bench and dumbbells?
That's pretty much what a batwing row is. You use DB's instead or a barbell.
I want to do these but it takes too long to setup.
Purchase a competition seal row bench from RGA or Eleiko, problem solved
Hey Hudson, what is your favorite back isolation exercise?
SEAL Rows is what I've always called these.
Are these also called "seal rows?"
yes
i dont have that many plates 😥
Same here. 😅
Arent these seal rows
Seal Rows indeed
JEFIT calls it Barbell Prone Shoulder Pull and for Shoulders ._.
