Then Extend DK for 2 years and save yourself another 13M. Give the team a shot for next year and if it doesn't work.... you rebuild. Trade DK, big cat, Nwosu, and Love in 2026 saving the team another 32ish million. And let Riq walk.

I'm really starting to sour on John Schneider. I think Seahawks fans over-rate him, because he happens to be our GM. These contracts he's passed out with crazy dead money options is just another spoke in the wheel to me (along with the free agency spoke and the mediocre-draft spoke). I think he's horrible at managing salary cap. Part of that is picking the players to give these contracts to, and then re-doing their contracts to hurt us even more when we're about to get out from underneath them. This year's Dre'Mont Jones and Tyler Lockett is last year's Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs.
I don't know, if you look around the league the grass isn't greener for the majority of organizations. You can bring in somebody who can do far worse. Just look at the bears. I think after this next draft with 11 picks and some free agency action were winning the division next year

Commanders and lions have only recently found success but doesn't mean their front office is better. For what went down with losing Russell leaving and Pete and losing the legion of boom JS kept us out of purgatory. He's made some mistakes on free agents and draft picks but there's no perfect gm out there. JS is building another super bowl caliber team, he's got a stud coach, the next Tyler lockett, big cat, Ernest Jones and knight for daniels, witherspoon on the path of being best in the league. I will say the eagles have done better than us over the past 7 years for sure. Again, bring in a new gm and you could very well see worse decision making and us become the next steelers.

Teams try every year and FAIL MISERABLY. Lockett yes, K9 sure, but get rid of our obviously good QB for a TINY chance of replacing him with someone equally competitive? That's a big NO. Metcalf is still highly skilled and valuable.

Geno Smith and DK Metcalf will be off the books in 2 or 3 years... at that point Seattle will have tons of cap.
Lotts of QB talk floating around with lots of veteran QBs on the market younger then Geno. Making it a tough option to sign Geno.

The team has been pretty consistent about wanting to keep Metcalf. We're kinda stuck with him.
If we can get a guy like Cam Skattabo that would be sweet.
