Excuse me, excuse me but did you have to do that to SpongeBob?, this is Patrick and I'm 63 years old and he is still my best friend lol

Story 2 remind me when my fake friends pressured me into taking an acid tab. I had a bad trip, literally I mentally died. They just left me in this small room and I heard them talking about just dropping me off somewhere and that "She took the tab on her own." I felt as if they were going to kill me. Never spoke to them again and I have trust issues now.
They'll get there comeuppance x
Good riddance to them, I say.
Some friends. Sadly many people you think are friends don't give a deal about you. Good you learned from that.
Take acid again but this time focus on your issues that you got from the first trip. Undo the trauma.
@@Grazzmazzium are you crazy. No. Drugs are bad mkay?
Thanks a lot for the timestamps. Many channels don't use it. It makes it really hard to listen to a long video in a few sittings. Especially when I'm lying down in bed.
Vay Efe Aydal da buralarda takılıyormuş.
Literally listen to this guy every night for bedtime. Such a relaxing voice 😁
i listen to him whole falling asleep 😭
Me too!
Reading these comments just make me smile knowing that someone like Joel can bring warmth into ppls lives by storytelling. What a persona👍
I know right! can’t sleep without this guy
I'm a little hot now. Joel, may I please have some cold
"Underground mothers market" Is such a wholesome kid way of thinking about a real and awful thing.
Your videos saved me when going through an extremely rough point in my life...and I think I've come full circle...life's been besting me lately and I've found myself circling the metaphorical drain again....look..just thank you Mr. J. Thank you for being the amazing narrative master you've become over time.
Wish I could come out of the extremely rough point..but these stories definitely help
Same :)
I started listening him to keep myself from thinking after being in a sexually abusive relationship that meant I was r*ped 3x. It’s been 4 years now and I’m actually doing somewhat well cause of his vids :)
Same here. He's definitely a great distraction and if you ever listen live. He's funny as hell! Wishing you the best. I fight my demons everyday.
You can't change the past..But you can change the future ♡ Peace starts with acceptance. Sending you love, prayers and peace..Wishing you the best in life. We are are own biggest obstacles unfortunately. But you can change that..Because you are the captain of this ship, called life.. ♡ ~ Love!
@@stoleneyez Stay positive. Believe in karma. It may take years but these idiots can't go through life doing what they do, without picking on the wrong person or getting back x3 what they give out.
Love to you. From Carla (sorry I'm on my fellas phone, I didn't want you to think I was male.
My fella would say the same though.)
My thoughts are with you If you ever need an ear. I'm here.💗
I don't know why, but I think it's cute that the child was afraid his mother would be stolen and put on the black market of mothers.
Story 1 couldve been solved if the mom just LOCKED THE CAR DOORS. Y'know, like a responsible adult, or better yet, just take the kid inside, THEN locking the car doors.
Exactly!! How absolutely irresponsible… that mom SHOULD feel guilty. It could have been avoided.. 🤦🏼♀️
Honestly I, too, was waiting for the OP to mention something about the doors being locked or unlocked, but nothing. Kind of made me wonder which part of why he would have to feel guilty about. 🤔
Ikr?? It is insane to me how many stories of this sort involve parents leaving their kids alone in the car... why would you ever do that??
@@ayellowllama9602 not at all trying to excuse it, but if he was able to Hotwire a car that means this had to take place somewhere before the mid 90s. Sadly a lot of people were blinded at that time, believing they were safe and nothing bad could happen to them. Times were different. I wish the kid wasn’t blaming himself. But I could be wrong and they just happened to have an old car.
@@jayceratops. hmm you could be right I certainly hope so actually
These stories has helped me to be more aware of what people are capable of. People l know don't want to know or just afraid of what can happen in life. I feel this is why most people are caught off guard! Most feel if they stick their heads in the sand, bad things want happen to them. I'm not paranoid, but now l don't take any one for granted. Back in the 80s or 70s these things wouldn't happen. But things have changed!
It's not that they didn't happen it's just that we hear about it more now with the Internet
Mama in the first story should have locked the car doors before she left.
That's how your kids get cooked alive in your car
@@Slickusso 🤦🏻♀️ the doors unlock from the inside.
@@katiechisholm bruh
@@Slickusso 🤦♂️
@@Slickusso then idk maybe like don’t leave your kids in cars🥴
That story about the 6 year old nearly drowning in the deep end had me in tears laughing, not because I'm a jerk, but because that was me as a kid, and I relate bigtime, as my phobia of water makes me flash back to that time at Water World in the wave pool where I got dragged into the deep end, went under, kicked in the head by some toddler in a floaty donut, then blacked out and next thing I know I've been washed up like a beached whale, and noone noticed....
I laughed after reading this, I'm sorry! But the way you described it. 🤣😂
That’s horrifying. 😥
Just had to say I started listening to you in high school to help me fall asleep and I’ve never been able to stop. I’ve gotta be on year 5 or so now… love you Joel.. you have the voice of an angel
Childhood memories can be bittersweet. Hope most of yours are more sweet than bitter! 🤞💜
Most of my childhood memories are pretty bitter but hey it can only get better from here :)
@@Oatmilk345 🙌👏👏👏💜
Well thank you however definitely on the bitter side for sure basically vinegar bitter. However I learned what not to do now as a parent so atleast I was taught something out of it all. 🙏 💜🙏
@@ginaperez8139 You sound like an amazing parent! 💜
@@thegodofpez awe thank you that is very nice of you to say. I do my best that's for sure we're not given any book for parenting but as I said I did learn what not to do for sure and that has worked out for me very well as my 3 kids are amazing 👏 wonderful people and I cannot ask for better kids they're all kind, considerate, loving, caring, understanding, patient and have hearts of gold 🤎 like I said I feel I have some great kids and I hope and pray I had a lot to do with that. 😊 thank you again hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family and or friends and made some great memories. 💜🦃🍗🏈🍻🤗🙏💜
In regards to the baby on the bike story: I had one of those seats for my son (except it was in front of me) and he pointed to the park when we were almost home one day. I decided to stop there and parked my bike near a tree. One of the roots threw it off balance and it fell with my son in it. I tried to catch it by the handlebars but they twisted and it fell pretty hard. He cried, I panicked and soon it became clear he was in pain whenever he lifted his arm. I took him to the ER immediately afterwards and that physician sent us home saying he just had a scrape. Two days later I took him back to the ER where a doctor finally got him an X-ray and we found out he had a broken collarbone. Evidently that is one of the most common injuries for young children and heals extremely quickly. It had been 3 days when we got that diagnosis and it was already in the mend. I had to ace bandage his arm to his side for 2 weeks.
I believe those seats should be banned. They’re dangerous. I bought a bike trailer off Craigslist later that week.
Thank you for sharing this tale/info and I'm glad you were smarter and more aware than a "doctor".
The “Alligator in the sewer” story turned out better than I thought.
I'm loving this video already. Thanks Joel. Love from South Africa 💜
Worked all day after school, work at 8 am all day tmr. Perfect video to settle down to play some games and go to bed, thanks Joel
Damn, that 48 minutes flew by! Time flies when you're having fun, I guess. Great collection of stories!
Sweet dreams buttersocks, hope you all had a good thanksgiving 💋♥️
I am so tired but I tried my best to stay up just for this video. ❤️
One of the best videos you’ve done, I think we all agree that things that happen in childhood that scare us then always scare us a little no matter how old we get. We all understand what it’s like to be terrified as kids. Make more. Videos with this topic!
story 6: if you were 11 in 2012, you’re gen z. not a millennial
Dear god.....
Exactly. I’m a millennial. I’d been married seven years with kids in 2012.
I hope everyone is well xx
So happy for this upload 👍🏾. I got a bunch of days off. I have nothing to do. I really needed this. Thanks so much for working on the holiday I appreciate it. 🖤🤎
For some reason some of these stories made me think of the king of the hill episode where Bobby was being taught self defense.
"THATS MY PURSE! I DONT KNOW YOU!"
More great story choices and I appreciate that there have been a few tales lately that show the less casual, less "fun" side of recreational drugs -- especially when addicted adults expose you to stuff like that while you're very young.
Your vids are really helpful to me. I love listening when im sad, scared, bored and just doing stuff
Listening to this at work at night makes me jump when a coworker comes out of nowhere😂
These were awesome, I thought they might be mostly paranormal stories, but was pleasantly surprised!
Okay... That poop story was horrific. My jaw was on the floor the entire time 😨
Like why do it to yourself right 😂
The first story was probably a scarier encounter for Caillou than the little kid.
the one with the dead cat: Oh no! I love kitties! My family's three year old cat is so sweet and playful, and our barn cat is very lovey, swatting playfully and rubbing her head
Evil sponge bob looks like a monster made out of burnt grilled cheese.
Right on time as always!! You’re the best, keep up the good work 🥰
I know the views may not be zooming etc but us whom watch u appreciate your narrations/voice/hard work extremely. I know you have your own issues so thanks for taking the time for us your presence means a lot
I enjoy sleeping to the sound of Joel's voice. So what I do though after I miss a video being asleep, a lot of days when I'm bored I replay the ones I know I slept to. This is my favorite channel on UA-cam by far. 😁
Yay!!! A new vid. I am also loving the artwork on this dude! Keep it up! 🏴 x
The way the last line in the elephant story was delivered was awesome, gave me chills

These videos are incredible in quality. Thank you!
In my head it was like "suffer a little discomfort or get eaten ass first by a sewer croc"
thanks for posting! love your content
Love that last quote about a true 'Yorkshire' person .
They are known in the U.K for being really frugal (tight) with their money. Hence she wouldn't let go of her handbag.
I thought it was just a myth. But, no it's obviously true (ish).
Loved these stories, please do more...
A childs mind looks at things so differently, and these events shape our future self.
I think everybody has a bad, rememberable experience whilst young, and in hindsight it wasn't so bad.
As a child things little woes felt like the end of the world.
Your narrating is truly relaxing
One of the best channels on YT.
That's a crazy graphic overlay 😃 Loving it!
Man, the thumbnail for this vid really set the mood Lets Read! :)
bless this channel for the content it uploads.
Ooo friday night blunts and scary stories! Yasss ☺😂
Blunts heck no stop doing those no if’s ands or buts there are better things like music or such to replace it
💨I feel ya 😂😂👍
These are wonderful stories from childhood. What a wonderful idea!! I love your narrating and I love your voice and I appreciate all your stories that you read to me almost daily. Thank you so much from North Carolina!! 🎉❤
Story 6: The savannah is a goddamn war zone. As much as people meme about how dangerous Australia is, that place is a petting zoo compared to Africa. There's no harsher ecosystem on the planet, and probably hasn't been since the t. rex went extinct. Elephants though, yeah, they don't need to hide from anything. Seen them impale a 1,500 pound buffalo and toss it in the air like a ragdoll. Seen them take 3,500 pound hippos and treat them like a cat does a mouse. I don't understand how it was a big deal to get away from him, though. While elephants, especially bulls, are behemoth powerhouses, they aren't exactly cheetahs. They have a top speed of 20 to 25 MPH (and that's a fast one, many will struggle to pull off 15). What vehicle can't beat that? A golf cart? Why was it *ever* a concern about being able to get away?
Pleasure to listen to this on my birthday today, thank you Lets Read
Can't get enough, thank u!! ❤️
Putting the kids to bed. Great timing ☺❤

Weird how I can listen to absolute horror stories about humans, but I feel physically ill hearing a cat has been in an accident. NOPE. Finishing this video early then.
Thanks for the content Joel, you're the best x
I’m the same way. What story is it so I can avoid it?

dont mind me.. juss listening to this while i lay down for a small cat nap lol
The one with the elephant and the mom singing the nursery rhyme had me rotflmao!
2:20 🎵It’s a moment when I steal the car got em sayin WOW🎵 😂😂😂
Love the video ready ❤️❤️ I recognize the art! That’s a horror version of SpongeBob! I recognize that sponge since I grew up watching him
Omg y the hell would that mom leave her child in the car! That is horrible! That makes me so sad for the kid..and that was not the little boys fault, what the parent can’t tell their kid to come in the store?! Great parenting
Story 11 had me cracking up lol
“The underground mother’s market” 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
The “be eaten a$$ first by a sewer croc” sent me.
Underground mother's market 😂 Scary yes, but that cracked me up.
You've done it again!
the first story just makes me mad. who leaves their young child in an unlocked car? i can understand leaving a child for 5 minutes because they're tired, but in an unlocked car???
Me. But when you live in a tiny village community in north east Scotland it’s not a problem.
@@lanabmc3519 there is always a risk of that one guy or gal that's just...off. and then you find out they like to touch the alter boys. that's how it happened in the first little town I moved to out of my parents. even the one in a million risk is too much for me.
@@minimm1754 but you’re probably American. So that’s unsurprising. Here kids play outside unsupervised from age four or five. Get themselves to and from school unsupervised. Highschool kids from age 11 or twelve get public transport into the bigger towns or cities themselves. It’s done here because it’s safer here
It was a very common thing to do what I was young, but that was a long time ago, in the early 70s. I've never done such a thing when my kids were young.
@lanabellemckenna3519 Yeah, I think I could have done it because I live in a remote area in Québec, Canada, but I didn't take any chances. Just in case. But my kids played outside all day during summer and only came back home when the street lights came on. I was glad not to live in a city. They knew everyone around.
Your place seems nice too. I wish I could visit Scotland one day. I've lived in 4 different countries in my life. But I never had the chance to visit your country.
In the first story, it kills me that the guy blames himself for something he did when he wasn't old enough to fully realise what the consequenses of his actions might be. That is why we need to be parented while we are children.
Story 11: I’ve seen a patient vomit feces from such a bad bowel blockage. Poor patient. Ugh
Yay!
I got one. When I was like 4 or 5 (the late 80s) those blood pressure testing machines just came out in the drugs stores. When my mom and grammas back was turned, I stuck my arm in and pressed the green start button. Well the cuff started blowing up and since my arm was so small it didn’t trigged the stop function. I remember screaming as it constricted around my little arm. Hearing my distress, the pharmacist ran over and tried pulling my arm out and eventually pulled the plug to stop it. It took years for me to not internally scream even when a wrap around one was put on me at the docs. Still to this day I cringe when I pass one by in a CVS or Costco.
Ahhh , yes .. my nightly bedtime ritual . Better than meditation 💤 ohmmmmm 🖤
My second favorite “Genre”! My first fave is more historic unsolved mysteries!! ~ even if you mix more stories in to your regular plan’
ooo do you have any recommended channels or podcasts in the historic mysteries genre? :”-)

The story with car accident. Changed my facial expression too. Poor guy burnt alive. He didn't deserve that.
I really liked this topic. I have some horrifying childhood stories of my own...
Hey Joel this thumbnail is incredible. I'm assuming you create them? Props because the artwork is like an added bonus.
"Underground mother's market" hahaha😂😂
Woking on a weekend. A good reason on BINGING Let's Read! Golden sheets ;>
My creepy experience (not really scary but kinda strange)- I was like 8 on vacation in Florida and I woke up from a nightmare around 4:00 am, rolled over, and saw a tall, dark shadow figure with red eyes and a grin full of sharp white teeth. It was over in a second but still was terrifying for an 8 year old.
My worst childhood trauma was when I went through anesthetic awareness during an ear surgery. That whole experience was burned into my memory and each subsequent surgery has been fine but I do not like the idea of surgery at all because of it
Omg my worst nightmare! I’m so sorry you went through this 😢
Just in time for bed thanks Joel.
