Timing does matter, predicates here with a continuous glucose monitor. If I eat late at night a big meal, my glucose will stay high for next day even after walking for an hour. The only way I figured out after 2 years of trying is to finish my last meal before 3pm preferably without carbs, then walk for about an hour before 6pm. This way when I go to bed , my glucose will be below 100, and stay between 60-100 until breakfast next morning. Morning breakfast at 10am gave me a well 19 hours of low glucose/insulin level. And savory breakfast with small amount of whole grain like yam, pumpkin. No carb for the 2nd meal, plenty of protein veggies and fat. Skip the 3rd meal and replace with one hour brisk walk.
In the context of fat gain/loss, like what the video is about, calorie in and out is what matters, not timing. Glucose/insulin levels don't necessarily correlate with fat gain/loss, so that's a whole other story. It only indirectly affects fat gain like how cravings might make it harder to maintain a calorie deficit or follow your meal plan. There is also the possibility of the body storing more fat due to hormonal imbalances despite having a similar calorie intake, but this is generally more applicable to people who have insulin sensitivity issues or metabolic disorders, or people who just have poor dietary habits (like constantly eating high carb meals) matched with a sedentary lifestyle. Generally though, most people would still be losing fat as long as they maintain a calorie deficit, regardless of meal timing.
I am background in medical and bio physician, it seems you have problem with insulin. The purpose of insulin is to bring down excess glucose level, hence EATING TIMING IS NOT MATTER 😊

It matters, it's not about calorie in or out, it's about hormon cycle. When you eat you raise your insulin level, when your insulin level is high, your body does not burn fat as fuel no matter how hard your training is. In fact, the harder you train, the more huff and puff you are the more you are burning glucose, not fat. Burning fat requires both oxygen and low insulin level. So yeah, it is better to eat within 8 hour window (preferably you have your last meal hours before you go to sleep) or less (like 7 or even 6 hour window) whenever you can so that your body can use fat as fuel especially during sleep with low insulin level, not high insulin level.

There's a lot of new research now that shows eating timing does matter for health. Eating 2 hours after sunset should be avoided. Around 8:30am is the optimal time for eating. The data from these new literature is convincing enough that the Johns Hopkins and Stanford website recommends people to eat dinner earlier and avoid late meals. Late night eating disrupts the circadian rythmn and causes a cascade of problems with your hormones and metabolism.
It doesn't matter in the case fat loss, but its still a good idea not to eat carbs late at night, the real problem caused by this is the sugar spike that maintains itself for longer, and people with this may develop insulin resistance later in life.

OK, but eating late may interfere with your sleep, because your body is supposed to be slowing down. Your brain is trying to sleep but your stomach is processing the incoming meal. It is not an ideal situation for a good rest.
It may not affect fat loss but it does affect your sleep, which will then affect your blood sugar, which will make you eat more the next day. Eating late WILL make you fat.
So practice self control? The only thing that makes you eat more is yourself. If you dont know how many calories you're eating, then you're not even serious about losing weight.
@@zippo718 Erm no, it isn't as simple as that. Our biochemistry controls that. There's very little self control in the presence of hormones. That's why things like Ozempic are so successful. They over-ride our biochemistry.

So here’s the thing, eating carbs at night will indeed cause you to gain fat more easily than when consumed earlier in the day. However, this is only true if you are eating those carbs at night by themselves. What this does is that it causes your body to spike in your blood sugar in a very negative way, and typically the spikes are mitigated or lessened via activity, but when you were sleeping, your body isn’t moving, and that is the type of activity your body needs for these massive carb only glucose spikes. So now comes the important and useful part of this comment: eating carbs at night with a good source of protein, especially a protein high in casing that will take longer to digest, will completely make eating carbs at night a non-problem. Pair your carbs with a long digesting protein source and a bit of fat for your late night meal, and you are on your way to optimal body fueling health and even muscle gain (if you are eating the right types of food of course!). I have years of experience that I wish to share, so I hope this information and explanation helps somebody in someway :)
Thank you, sir. I exercise at night and then i shower and do my hair. That gets me eating dinner late especially if i don't have anything prepared. My mother always tells me I'm going to get fat that way and it's so unhealthy without anything backing it up. I tell her it's not true but she won't listen.
lol! This actually made me feel better. Sometimes I get home so late when I go to the gym after work, so I’ve been wondering if it’s even okay to eat dinner when it’s so late (like 21:00).
Digestion requires energy. Body also has a rhythm, look up circadian rhythm. When those are respected, food is well digested with lesser energy expended this better metabolic rate. In short, eating at the correct time is imperative to proper food digestion which equals to not just good metabolism but good energy levels. That’s what metabolic is about as well, energy, not just the ability to digest food - which requires energy.
Also, if you're actively working out, the recovery process usually takes 24-48 hours. So, during the entire time your body is eating. The one thing I would say, although you can eat carbs any time, just make sure the ratios (to protein and fat) are what you want according to your goals (weight loss, weight gain, body building, etc.)

To me timing (not talking about time but rather the period of your last meal before bedtime) does matter. I prefer not to eat because it takes time for the food to digest and laying down when I'm still full will definitely make me feel terrible. I exercise quite frequently - weights, yoga and aerobics but I always prefer to sleep with my stomach feeling lighter/slightly peckish.
I think some foods are more likely to become stuck in my gut or my digestive tract at night. Sometimes dairy foods are better at night, because they dont get stuck and they can trigger bigger reactions when Im awake, having to fart or having swelling feelings.
After 6pm saliva wont much produce.. while your sleeping right after dinner late oxygen level go down to your brain and lungs get stressed due to digestion.oral pH changes..if its been a routine.. health issues starts with disfunction insulin..so glucose can be glycogen . Which glycate our whole body that is diabetes..better to change the routine now...😊
While that is correct what you'd stated, the natural rate your body metabolizes such becomes a bit slower if you go to sleep after eating, so I'd recommend at least a couple hours, for the food to digest, then going to bed. However its a bit different if you eat a lot before bed though, I can attest to that feeling ... You'll get in the stomach... Try it if you're bold
To be honest the not eating late at night has more to do with quality of sleep rather than gaining weight and rest being the most important thing our bodies need
Losing weight is 80% food 20% workouts... but the workout matters, especially weight training. After a session, you continue to burn as your body repairs tears in the muscle that are needed to get muscles to grow. I'm always hungry if I don't eat regularly while strength training. But I log everything so I know exactly how many calories go in and I create a balance of carbs, protein and good fats. This is sustainable weight loss.👍🙂
Bro thank you, I have a very irregular eating cycle but it's what works for me. Having my first meal at about 2 to 3PM and then having smaller meals often until like 9 to 10 where I have one last big meal before heading to sleep. When my mother catches me eating at night, she likes to get on my case about it, but I still weigh about 120lbs at 5'3
@@jotomato If you eat at 7 pm and your last bit of food is at 7:45 it means you can sleep till 10:45 - 11:00 so that's late to some people that wake up early
Eating at night isn’t necessarily bad for weight loss, but idk, CARBS at night might make a difference. And you shouldn’t eat late at night anyways for many other factors ppl have pointed out already, like digestive issues… if you’re eating too close to bedtime and you wake up feeling lethargic and nauseous, that’s why.
A lot of ppl don't eat close to before sleeping to prevent heartburn / acid reflux. If u develop more serious acid reflux, GERD, and have it chronically, ur more at risk for esophogeal cancer.
I was taught no food before sleep because your body has to process it (work) and you won't sleep well but i always sleep better after a huge meal, even sugary things and im not fat. Each person is different.
I think it probably comes from the fact of it being a 4th meal. If you track calories, it's different. But for the large majority of people that just eat when they get bored, nighttime eating when you just don't need any extra calories probably is a good way to get fat.
Not sure how accurate this is. Valid studies show that our rate of digestion decreases slowly after sunset. So eating late night maybe be putting additional load on the body affecting other night related activities like cleansing, deep sleep etc.
One time I tried to lose weight for a certain event because the dress they had was slightly tight. The only thing i changed is to finish dinner before 8 (to note i normally don't eat breakfast, and only eat during lunch hour). Even the lady who helped me on the fitting was surprised and asked how did i lose weight in 2 weeks.
Honestly this is first time I watch his video that he is talking. So when i see him, i thought it would be daddy/mature like voice but when I hear it, it's just like our friendly neighbors
In theory, you are right. However, in practice, people crave late night snacks, and that's what puts them into surplus. So it's just easier to follow the hard set rules of no good after 8 pm to not temp people.
Overall health is not as simple as calorie in and out. Even if you care about losing/getting fat, you can eat only white sugar everyday while "calculating" what you think as calorie in and out, your calorie in may be lower than calorie out in that day, but you'll get diabetes very soon, and your body will not respond with how many calorie "in" anymore.

I think some foods are more likely to become stuck in my gut or my digestive tract at night. Sometimes dairy foods are better at night, because they dont get stuck and they can trigger bigger reactions when Im awake, having to fart or having swelling feelings.
bro too opppp love you
Bro never show mercy 😂
Absolutely brilliant
Dude transformed like anything ❤
Big of anyone to assume i would fall asleep after eating
Why is he so good as playing an accusatory someone else talking to himself
Great lighting
Will affect your sleep though yes 🤔😁
Useful information 👍
To be honest the not eating late at night has more to do with quality of sleep rather than gaining weight and rest being the most important thing our bodies need
Dr pal disagrees.
People who avoid eating late in the evening may lose weight but only because of plating that restriction which limits their calorie intake
Theres a reason why yu have nightmares if you eat at night, its not good for the body, it needs rest and digestion is very energy intensive.
The way you eat and response to people that asking you while eating its remind me to my friend😂 its like you guys have your own world while do that😅
thank you for this
Should I eat before or after working out? How much? What (carbs, protein, sugar, salt)?
Imma show this to my dad ASAP
Doctor recommends not to eat post 8pm to fatty liver patients.
Do note avg. human is not in calorie deficit.
Thanks bro 😎
Bro thank you, I have a very irregular eating cycle but it's what works for me. Having my first meal at about 2 to 3PM and then having smaller meals often until like 9 to 10 where I have one last big meal before heading to sleep.
When my mother catches me eating at night, she likes to get on my case about it, but I still weigh about 120lbs at 5'3
Eating very late means sleeping very late. You need 2-3 hours before lying down. 🤷
Not the point of this video 😂 he is just saying eating late won't store the food as just fat
Yeah same thought, however the point was that after a certain hour your not gaining an additional fat or weight that you would at other hour
You sleep at 8pm? 😂
"nah, go read yourself" bro had to let his malaysian out for a sec 😭😭
A lot of ppl don't eat close to before sleeping to prevent heartburn / acid reflux. If u develop more serious acid reflux, GERD, and have it chronically, ur more at risk for esophogeal cancer.
The metabolism doesn't shut down at night, but it does slow down very much.
"Woah woah woah eating carbs at night?"
"bro what's wrong eating carbs at night?"
"Cause it looks delicious, give me some."
However circadian rythm is important to consider for meal times
I was taught no food before sleep because your body has to process it (work) and you won't sleep well but i always sleep better after a huge meal, even sugary things and im not fat. Each person is different.
Yup ! I eat at anytime I can … 😅 Army bro 😎
8pm is a general rule of thumb that it’s the point of least amount of activity.. hence why
Cool arms bro
THATS WHAT IVE BEEN EXPLAINING! But no one listens... but in general, i dont eat late night anyways
U just got a new subscribeer
Thanks bro ❤
Honestly this is first time I watch his video that he is talking. So when i see him, i thought it would be daddy/mature like voice but when I hear it, it's just like our friendly neighbors
The guy on black hit the nail,
In theory, you are right. However, in practice, people crave late night snacks, and that's what puts them into surplus. So it's just easier to follow the hard set rules of no good after 8 pm to not temp people.
Eating at night solves world hunger lol.
Yes it’s 100% true. Calorie in n out is the key.
He just debate himself so no one will debate him , 🎉🎉 nice content
bro stole my eat at 7:59 joke
As long as you stay on your required calories. I believe its okay
I find stopping eating at 8pm helps cause i never make good food choices after that time 😂
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAH THE END HAHAHAHAHA
Facts. My last meal is at 8:30 pm.and I just lost 14 pounds this month. By staying in a calorie deficit of 2100 calories. Whole foods
Bro changes from chinese to indian in a few seconds 😅
