  • UK Couple tries Filipino Food - Lechon Kawali - Pork Sisig - Tocilog - Pork Lumpia
This is our second visit to Tarp's Filipino Fusion Street Food to try some more of their lovely Filipino food cuisine, and we were not disappointed, evry dish was new to us and we were trying them for the first time, check out our video and see for yourself, just what we thought of them.
we are so impressed with the Filipino food and the people of the Philippines, that we will be making plans to visit the Philippines as soon as we can save the money to go, not only for the food but the warm loving welcome we have received from the people is the big reason that has persuaded us to go.

Thanks for appreciating Filipino food. After a go of tasting them, hopefully the future content is making some of them. One of the best but easy-to-do dishes is pork adobo + the garlic rice.

17:48 Actually, with lechon kawali you can cut the fat part out. A lot of us (slightly health-conscious ones) don't eat it. But we love the skin so it's hard to cut the fat part out (to keep aesthetics). I normally cut the skin out, then the fat part out, then eat the skin with the remaining meat. You can also choose to eat the skin separately. You can also use flavored spicy vinegar with lechon kawali but we normally have the liver sauce (as what you have on yours). The sisig we normally have with beer. Glad you enjoyed 'em. Thank you for trying!

Hi 👋🏻, yes I think I would prefer to cut the fat out …the actual meat was really tasty and we did enjoy it but yes without the fat is most definitely a healthier option 😋🤔 thank you for watching and sending us your comment we appreciate it very much ❤️👍🏻

Just found your blog, great to see Filipino food back in the U.K. I could never find any when I was back home. Currently living in Cebu, Philippines and enjoying the food, mostly. although looking at your channel reminds me that I sometimes miss U.K. food. Lechon is served all over the Philippine, however Cebu is famous for it where all parties and celebrations have to have it however the whole pig is put on the table. Yes you need to come here to enjoy the weather, scenery and food together with the great hospitality and people

It's great to see people interested and loving Filipino food!
I've noticed that you guys are having a bit of a trouble using a spoon and fork setup and understandably so if you're not really used to it. In the Philippines, we don't really have much tough food that can't be cut by a spoon and fork (with a spoon acting as a knife) and most of all using a spoon allows us to have as much rice in a mouthful without risking some from falling from the sides like what would happen when scooping up rice with a fork. The fork in a Filipino household rarely goes into the mouth, we use it to scoop, push, and place rice and sides into the spoon so we can get a mouthful of the whole meal at the same time. You guys seemed to get the hang of it pretty quickly though! Love from the Philippines

Nice to see Tracy and Colin tasting iconic Filipino dishes. You're using the spoon and fork properly, even slicing the meat with the spoon's edge!
Then you encountered the "taste counterpoint" of combining contrasting condiments to the primary dish: sweet tocino pork + vinegar; sweet liver sauce + the fatty savory lechon; dynamite lumpia + mayonnaise (but sweet chili sauce is better).
If you get the chance, try champorado (chocolate rice porridge) with tinapà (dried/smoked fish). Also unripe Green mango + bago-ong (sauteed shrimp paste).

Tip: use the spoon to scoop the rice. you can also use the spoon to cut a bit of meat then put that on top of the rice. or after cutting the meat, scoop some rice with the spoon and use the fork for the meat. you have to always pair it/eat together. it helps balance the intense flavors in a good way.
Pro Tip for the Ultimate Filipino Experience: eat with your hands. we call this "kamayan" ask for some latex gloves (or be a real G, and just dig in)

Best time to travel really is from January to March. Hardly rains, windy all around and quite overcast. Perfect for sight seeing because it's not too hot. April to June is the hottest. Mid of June to December, the rains come.
By the way, when you're given vinegar, either you slice the meat and dip or you scoop 1/4 of a tsp and sprinkle on your meat. The way you did it was way too much vinegar.

    • @TracyandColinTheFoodies
      @TracyandColinTheFoodies  2 роки тому +1

STarting off with the "Dynamite" to warm up your tastebuds, the Tocilog (Tocino - which is ham like cured pork) - "TOSILOG" - "TO" - Tocino, "SI" - Sinangang or fried rice and "LOG" or "Itlog - Fried Egg" then with Sisig and and lastly the Lechon Kawali is perfect way to wind up your taste buds.

Love fusion but the authentic kind of Filipino "Silogs" (egg+rice) garlic fried rice is used, the salad is not the garden leaf variety but is 'achara' (pickled green papaya). The pork belly craze has hit the world in the last 5 years or so, but in the Philippines we've used this part of the pork with gusto for centuries. For me, Lechon Kawali (kawali is "frying pan" in Filipino) is Filipino version of pork chop -- just cut in pieces with the patty part.

So happy that you are enjoying Filipino food. May I ask, I'm really curious about your small camera set up there. What gear are you all using? Thanks in advance and cheers to more Filipino food. Btw, most Filipino mains/entreés are meant to be eaten with rice. Also, the quinteseential dip is always the soy and vinegar dip. Spoon and fork are our utenils so make sure to use them. Cheers and Mabuhay.

Good day! When ever you reach philippines and looking for authentic tapa or tapsilog try going to don galo parañaque city, look for matty's tapsilog house that's with in quirino avenue, 2-3 kms west of the manila international airport or if you are looking for a sea foods try dampa in baclaran parañaque almost near the redemptorist church in roxas boulivard and also right next to that place is sosoy lechon (roast pig) and you'll find it cheap! And also when you are in tagaytay city try their famous bulalo(beef shank soup) try josephines restaurant or if you want a cheap and tasty bulalo try at mahogany beef market! Thanks for featuring our dishes in your channel! God bless you both!
