They need another bat (or someone to step up), but I really like what they have done. They lost a ton of runs when Soto walked. I think this team is better in many ways than last year's club, but they need another really strong bat.
I'd say they are improved. Goldy still has good power and is a better than average fielder. Bellinger brings defense and base running. Fried a great left hander and Williams is a HUGE improvement over Holmes. Plus I don't like Soto.
I think the moves the Yankees have made are much much better then spending $760 million dollars on one player for 16 years. Yes Soto and Judge together for 2024 season was nice but we got to see it and it still did not bring us a World Series win. I wish the Yankee fans that are bitching and screaming about how much they hate Soto and how he is going to suck playing for the Mets, just let it go guys. Who gives a crap for real. You have nothing to do with the Yankees so if they win or loosed, it should of no effect on your lifes.
Every bat in the lineup not named "Judge" is a question mark. I suspect we can expect Bellinger to be at least ok. But Chisholm, Goldschmidt, Wells and Volpe are all unpredictable along with Dominguez and the as yet unknown 3B. And this may be a make or break year for Oswald Peraza and Everson Pereira the latter who gets little attention anymore but may be the most promising young Yankee of'r in the whole system.
@@Wheresthelove7 I appreciate your confidence in Goldschmidt. But his trajectory is downward. If he bounces back it will be against the odds. I hope he does. In fact I was hoping the Yankees would pursue him when he left Arizona. Instead they traded for Luke Voit who became available because the Cards wisely signed Goldschmidt. He's a stand up guy who plays with class rather than behaving like a bat flipping, chest pounding self promoter and he's pretty close to a HOF talent. There's lots to love about Paul Goldschmidt. But he has to beat the odds. He might. Great players in their 30s have been known to have bounce years back before resuming the downward trend. As for Bellinger, we will finally discover how well his lefty swing can exploit Yankee Stadium. It should result in more hr's and a better BA. On that basis I'd forecast 23-25 hr's and .270+ ba. But one never knows, especially with a player who's experienced such dramatic statistical ups and downs. He may very well slump back towards a .200 ba.
Goldy's runs, hits, home runs, rbis, and avg have all dropped each of the last two years. The only thing that has gone up is the strike outs. 173 last year. He's 37 years old.

Agreed but that’s not Bregman or arenado. Give cash credit. He’s been very deliberate this season basically responding to Mets, while basically improving every position and defense. And rotation and bullpen. All the while being underneath a giant microscope. Intense media scrutiny, bloodthirsty fans. Inner city rivalry, big boy money, lasting legacy and job insecurity. Finally someone with some basis in reality. There's a reason why he only has a 1 year contract. Goldy was an automatic out in the first half of 2024, till he finally came out of his slump. Best we can hope for is he's a bit of an upgrade from Rizzo.

Which is Alex Bergman a great third baseman the icing on cake to be great Yankee team . Otherwise if Yankees use Oswaldo Vasquez who’s is a good rookie to save money , it will be incomplete off season 2024 on filling the third base hole

Never underestimate the METs to f_ck things up. That Soto signing is a ticking time bomb. The Yankees nearly fell for it and was better of rejected by Soto. Now they have a deeper team. There is still work to do but they were really lucky to dodge that bullet.
They call it the YES Network & these are the "yes" men on the panel. All on Hal's payroll so do you really expect them to disagree with a Cashman move. Yanks should have offered Christian Walker a contract but let the Astro's sign him to a 3 year deal. Multiple gold glove winner & an excellent hitter at 34 years old. They opted for someone who'll be 38 next year & not an upgrade from a healthy Rizzo. Total B.S. but Hal will make a killing on season tickets, Yes Network subscriptions & merchandise as usual. Yankee fans will have another 15 years without a World Series appearance.
Better than Rizzo at this stage is a low bar to be honest. Just hope Gold is decent enough to provide something more than what we got on first base this season despite being a clear stop gap. If the guy pulls a Scott Brosius and wins the WS MVP, it'd be a good problem to have but I doubt that will happen but still.
He's better than Rizzo right now in every sense of the word on both offense and defense. That's a big upgrade. Rizz had nothing going for him last season.
Dominguez may not be the most promising young Yankee of'r. EVERSON PEREIRA gets no attention but has superior minor league stats to Dominguez. At triple "A" he's hit 18 hr's in just 75 games w a .287 ba and very impressive .530 slugging %. And unlike Dominguez, Pereira has been consistently exc on defense. I hope the Yankees give him enough reps in spring training to prove himself. At the very least he might prove to be a better hitting 4th outfielder than Grisham.
When did the Yankees didn't want the guy? At the time people thought the guy would resign with the Braves. Also not helped by the fact that they already had Rizzo.

They need a catcher who can hit. So one year is nice but what about the future. ? Rice and dj ?! Omg. Please they need a real first baseman for more than one year . If they don't get a real third baseman they might not get back to the WS
Tanner scott would guarantee us a championship imagine with the lineup and starting pitching we have a bullpen with a 3 headed monster like Weaver , Scott and williamS is lights out
@Angelo_Productions i think an elite lefty bullpen arm that we lack is more crucial then a Bregman or any infielder because Cabrera peraza or vivas could fill that hole
DJL is not an option anymore. Cabrera is a utility guy bench piece, not a starter. Peraza cannot hit MLB pitching. I have no idea what they’re thinking not getting Bregman or trading for a 2B
They are thinking with Walker unfortunately when they are 2 or 3 moves away from championship caliber: get Arenado or Bregman, sign Teoscar or Santander, get lefty reliever -keep Dominguez as 4th outfielder
Better than rizzo but they traded for him, then re signed him so he couldn’t have been that bad, either that or the Yankees can’t spot talent and when a player is on the decline… now they wanna kick him on the way out…… let’s not forget about DJ as well…..

But do need to make up for most of that bat
@@YOUAINTHOOPING Overrated As An Defensive Player For Sure...
@ like crazy imagine he’ll be a DH in 2 years
Agreed but that’s not Bregman or arenado. Mets are JV team period. He’s done this while threading tiny needles. Not overspending, getting value and being conservative with ludicrous long deal contracts, and vicious click bait UA-camrs. I say bravo.
Yes wanted this pick for 1 base . im proud that the yankee are spending that money . we were better off soto leaving . ❤❤❤
Soto! Who’s that? 😉
I like this signing and what cashman is able to piece togther
I.hope he does well Yanks will have 4 formers MVP I believe that Soto sold us out and was unprofessional just my opinion
Bad defense killed me
@@almostkindabad defense by Soto? Lol
“Sold us out” lmao how do you sell out as a traded player 😭 you sold yourself out and played with your own feelings by falling in love with a rental.
@@TheRealDemiiGod True but can you blame him? Especially given the year he had.
@@Iamhungey yes I can, ungrateful fans bad mouthing a player who helped take their favorite team to the WS for the first time in over a decade. All I hear is Soto slander over him electing Free Agency and choosing his future team. How bout Thank you Soto!
He’s 37 years old guys get a grip
Finally someone with some basis in reality. There's a reason why he only has a 1 year contract. Goldy was an automatic out in the first half of 2024, till he finally came out of his slump. Best we can hope for is he's a bit of an upgrade from Rizzo.
@@jefflewis4 Plus the Yankees are banking on trying for Vlad Jr. next season. If Gold pulls a 1998 Scott Brosius that would be a great problem to have but I won't hold my breath.
Get a grip, he's an improvement what we had in 2024 BIG time
@@jefflewis4 I agree; I'm not sure he's an upgrade over a healthy Rizzo who, I know, is never healthy, but he had A LOT of bad luck. What I am sure of is Goldschmidt's only hitting for half a season, if that.
Love the signing - hope it is not another Matt Holliday
Being better than Rizzo doesn't mean much. Rizzo was done after the concussion. Also this move reminds me of the Josh Donaldson move with it being a 1 year deal making it tolerable
He’s getting 50% what Donaldson was getting. It’s really not comparable at all.
@harveydodd8803 Very comparable. 2 aging declining former MVPs who Cashman is creaming over. The money is the only positive
Anthony Rizzo is a replacement level player at best. Saying a player is better than Rizzo isn’t very high praise.
Now about LF. James Outman in a trade from the LAD would be a good fit, IMHO. A left handed bat as well.
We always fall 1 move short of being a great team. Every year the stop 10 feet from the finish line. Get a real big hitting third baseman!!!!! 😡
Which is Alex Bergman a great third baseman the icing on cake to be great Yankee team . Otherwise if Yankees use Oswaldo Vasquez who’s is a good rookie to save money , it will be incomplete off season 2024 on filling the third base hole
I say give Cabrera a chance to play everyday and see what he does with the opportunity.
I would give Cabrera a chance to play great baseball until May 2025. If he starts to make lots of errors and his offensive performance isn’t good. Yankees should start looking for golden glove third baseman, Arenado or good third baseman is available
We can't have a all star at every position
@@lornegrier3537 all star at every position? Judge is the only superstar in this lineup. Dominguez, Cabrera, Wells, Volpe. That’s half the lineup and none hit
DJ is literally a 3rd or second baseman jazz is a 3rd or second baseman we aren’t shopping that position when Roki Sasaki is out there
This would have been awesome, 2 years ago.
They're collectively pronouncing the name Goldschmidt without the H sound... I wonder if that's intentional
If Lemeiu can bounce back , there is there second baseman then keeping Chisholm at third! They still have Cabrera and Peraza!
Michael Kay should sell billboard ads on his forehead
I heard Bobble Head dolls were inspired by him
He combed his hair this time.
Why don't you post a picture of yourself ?
Get Santander as the final piece he eats at yankees stadium and he won't break the bank re sign Tim hill and call it a day
Yankees should have signed the "Polar Bear from the Mets to play 1st base.
People forget rizzo was doing incredible in 2023 before accident with tatis ?
So were replacing an older, declining 1st baseman with an older, declining 1st baseman. 😒
Get rid of Stroman ,DJ, and Oswaldo sign Alonzo put him at first . He doesn’t need a short porch .
Something tells me Goldschmidt is going to crush at Fenway
I hope lamahu gets hot so we can trade him.
They kept Austin because there's nothing left.
“More athletic” (signs 37 year old)
Better than Rizzo at this stage is a low bar to be honest.
@@jklax Indeed.
Hopefully but thr Yankees seem to get former stars that are finished
Peraza and Stroman package in a trade maybe with some cash !
Plug and play guy, makes sense.
He better...
LeMehieu and Gleyber must be shipped out.
Another Cashman retread. Hopefully I never have to hear Kay say, "Goldy".
Can’t go into 3b with DJ, Cabrera or Peraza at 3b -total offense far too low without one more hitter , and that assumes the Martian will play well
Dominguez may not be the most promising young Yankee of'r.
Listen man let’s not not act they’ve been right about players fitting. Freeman sure looked good in the World Series here but they didn’t want him.
When did the Yankees didn't want the guy? At the time people thought the guy would resign with the Braves. Also not helped by the fact that they already had Rizzo.
@ They never made an offer,” Freeman told The Post. Cashman remembered a Zoom meeting he and manager Aaron Boone had with Freeman, noting that they ultimately couldn't come to an agreement.Nov 1, 2024
@ there you go
@@Chinobx75 Would the offer had guarantee anything? If the agreement couldn't be had the offer wouldn't have change much. Plus from the same article said his eyes were on Braves or Dodgers. Whether one should take that word for it, it's up to you. The Yankees would have tried but nothing would have been guaranteed and again, people were expecting him to return to the Braves.
Way better than Anthony Rizzo.
They need a catcher who can hit. So one year is nice but what about the future. ? Rice and dj ?! Omg. Please they need a real first baseman for more than one year . If they don't get a real third baseman they might not get back to the WS
I think player 456 getting eliminated in Season 3
Goldy!
His hips and legs are cooked.
Tanner scott would guarantee us a championship imagine with the lineup and starting pitching we have a bullpen with a 3 headed monster like Weaver , Scott and williamS is lights out
Tanner Scott would be cool but they need offense
@Angelo_Productions i think an elite lefty bullpen arm that we lack is more crucial then a Bregman or any infielder because Cabrera peraza or vivas could fill that hole
No he wouldn't. There is literally no way you could possibly guarantee anything in baseball.
They have a three headed monster with Williams, Weaver and Cruz.
Rizzo really was not that bad. They make him out to sound old and beat up at 35, meanwhile
Goldy is 37…
That's because he is beat up at 35, the fact that Goldy had better season despite being older made it worse. Were you even paying attention?
Gotta trade for Correa
DJL is not an option anymore. Cabrera is a utility guy bench piece, not a starter. Peraza cannot hit MLB pitching. I have no idea what they’re thinking not getting Bregman or trading for a 2B
They are thinking with Walker unfortunately when they are 2 or 3 moves away from championship caliber: get Arenado or Bregman, sign Teoscar or Santander, get lefty reliever -keep Dominguez as 4th outfielder
I meant wallet
This BS like Blake is some sort of Guru is laughable. Like the Reds couldn’t “Fix him” without magic dust. Truth is occasionally they get lucky.
Like Donaldson better than GIO, Stanton better than Harper, Stroman better than Yamamoto or Verdugo better than Hicks. How did that work out Mike.
Do you think Verdugo wasn't better than Hicks? Did you get hit on the head and forgot how bad Hicks was, in every possible way?
@@snerdtergusonhow about the other comparisons lol, homie has a point
@@melvinhernandez5021 Yamamoto didn't want to sign with the Yankees
@snerdterguson Hicks at first was injury prone yet was better at first yet they kept him to long.
Nobody ever said that. Only Cashman thought Donaldson was better than Urshela.
Yanks settling up and going to let peraza, Cabrera and dj compete for 3B?
Better than rizzo but they traded for him, then re signed him so he couldn’t have been that bad, either that or the Yankees can’t spot talent and when a player is on the decline… now they wanna kick him on the way out…… let’s not forget about DJ as well…..
Better than Rizzo is some analysis. What a tool
Goldy was dogshit early in the year and you think he wasn't motivated because the team wasn't good enough? How toxic is the water in New York City because half these comments are written by insane people and Michael Kay didn't exactly prove he isn't here.
I will hate Anthony Rizzo forever for not charging the ball in game 5
Facts. Bro is always charging in during bunt attempts or if they even think one is coming. Yet the biggest play of his career to date. He doesn’t charge the ball or base. Wtffffffff. Never forgive him. Don’t care how nice of a guy he is.
He played it as first baseman have always, literally always, been coached to play it. Because the pitcher is supposed to cover. Only idiots are mad at Rizzo over him playing it exactly how he was supposed to. This is like getting mad at a player for using 2 hands to secure a catch. Its basic fundamentals, and you're mad that he used them. Good grief.
Calm down
@@snerdterguson You’re correct. They have to be equally mad at Cole as well because he was supposed to get his ass to first base and not ASSUME the first baseman “got it”!!!!!!
I am sorry but let's relax.
Ben rice was better then Rizzo wtf
Rizzo was a good player but washed up
Wrong kay
That annoying Kay is still around ?
Plan B is much better than Soto. By far. Bring Correa! Or give a chance to someone from within.
Yankees keep signing old players
get back sanchez

Your point is what exactly? That people employed by the Yankees are fans of the Yankees?
@@snerdterguson✅💯
@@snerdtergusonyea makes no sense of what he’s saying. This isn’t Baseball tonight on ESPN or MLB network of course they are fans of teams they are covering. The same with every team’s broadcast network.
bad take by Michael Kay
Nothing says New York Yankees like a rapidly aging veteran for first base...smdh
You know it's a one year deal right?
@Iamhungey yup...sure do....lol... my point is simply this... Aaron judge and Gerrit Cole will both start to drop off in a few years and so we do not have time to dick around with these silly little temporary Band-Aid Solutions.... I wanted Kyle Tucker now ..not next year..... the bullpen looks really good I am happy with that but the lineup is not a World Series lineup as of now imo...
@@jrzygurl I get where you're coming from, plus another issue to deal with is that the Yankees never won in year 5 and I'm sure both you and I want that to change. We lost out on Kyle Tucker so that can't be helped, plus Judge have to help his case in the postseason as well. We can only hope for the best and I hope the Yankees aren't done making moves yet. There's a rumor about Framber Valdez and while it hasn't been confirmed, the Yankees should take a look and see if they can get him.
@Iamhungey you are correct... I don't know about you but I have PTSD from the fifth inning in the World Series and I am concerned that it might be pencils down for Cashman.. I hope not.... but yes it is what it is, the team is better than last year so at least there's that... I have tickets to the first Met Yankee game in the Bronx just to boo Juan soto...😀... there aren't too many people left to pick from so let's see what happens like you say
@@jrzygurl What can be said, the one main upside in year 5 is that the reason we never won isn't as bad as year 4 where it feels cursed. Seriously look up on the history where the whole thing starts to get weird in 1954. It was either 1994 or 2004 where it starts to sink in.
