Loved watching this. I caught a 72lb cobia off the outer banks in North Carolina about 4 years ago, something I'll never forget. It ran from the boat 3 times, had the reel screaming!
Great work man. Love how the that guy told everyone to stay calm. It's something that is hard to do, but it really does make a difference in landing a fish.
Caught my 1st Cobia ever, fishing in Florida last Friday. 48.72lbs 53" that was the strongest fish I'd ever fought. Caught a 6ft tiger shark 20 minutes later & it was nothing compared to that cobia.
I've fished with Austin before and he is the best cobia fisherman I've ever seen. His ability to sight fish them is insane and he will see cobia from so far away I could not believe it
@POtatoe973 around 120-150 isnt bad a person cause they are in charge of your safety and to show you fish and give you 4 hours of fish fun and a good beer im sure so not terrible i guess plus the fuel and bait prices used during.
We hired a guy to take us fishing in Ft Myers Florida for 4 hours and it was horrible!!! He spent over an hour to catch bait and didnt find any. He went to another charter to buy some off them cause the bait store was out. We fished for maybe an hour and caught 3 small catfish. Then he started having engine trouble and docked on an island and instructed us to get off the boat to "go shelling" which is not what we wanted to do.. he pissed around with his engine and got it going then instructed us to get back on the boat. We thought that he was going to actually take us fishing longer since we only fished for one hour... we noticed he was taking us back to the dock after the 4 hours and told us that he had another group coming. We spent almost $500 to take our excited daughter on a charter to catch 3 lousy catfish and forced to "go shelling" which we did not hire him to take us. PLUS he had drinks and food in the coolers but did not let us have any at all cause it was for the next group!!!!
@@jonkeil6191 wow. Probably because of the vast variety of species you can catch. Out here in cali(bay area) you can buy the boat out for 6 people for 800 to 1200 depending on what your trying to catch.
I’ve never caught a cobia because I’ve never gone fishing in the ocean which I really want to do. I always fish on my dads boat in the inter coastal waterway for flounder, red drum, and bluefish. Your videos always make me want to go fishing in the ocean
Congrats! You didn't sound like you were bragging. It sounded like you were proud and had had a blast! If you can't share some news like that on Josh's channel, then where can ya!?
I guessed you’d reach 1 million subs by 9/1. I was way off. You’re going to be at 1.2 million by then. Keep up the great work. Thanks for keeping your content interesting for the parents and kid-friendly, as well.
This is an Excellent Video Josh... I'm glad you were tired and you landed a PB, great tone for the setting This episode was smooth and professional without hollering and that's why it produced a donkey like that. Great job, keep up the good work
😲 I’m seriously learning so much! I’ve been fishing all wrong. That’s actually cool as heck the way you set your rig up. I’d freak dude if I caught something big like that. The adrenaline.
wow your videos are so much more enjoyable to watch when you're running off no sleep, caught a 50lb cobia and didn't even blow my ears out screaming about it haha
Used to see fish this size every day in the panhandle, during the spring. Its disheartening to know that they have been overfished and pressured that bad here in FL. MY best cobia was 79lbs and caught while pier fishing over 10yrs ago.
I fish beside finao many times a week and seeing 50 pounders is a norm in va. Getting them to eat before the micro male with them is the problem! Virginia is very very overfished too! We used to have giants but acually catching a true 70# has become a rarity.
BlacktipH not so much a slot size just the ease of catching almost the whole pod when they fire up. The tournament's dont help either, but they get fished so hard coming around the peninsula on their way up that they either get spooky and wont eat or turn to head offshore
Hey buddy, i went deep sea fishing for the first time last week 20 miles out of Daytona beach and i caught a 30 pound Cobia! I cant imagine the rush of catching a 50 pounder! Always love the content, keep up the great and hard work
I was at a dock in Galveston, Texas when i was 13, and saw a guy bring in and weigh in front of me a 98lb cobia! Biggest one I ever caught was around 75lbs. Crazy thing is we hooked and caught the smaller of the 2 we saw that day.
My grandpa had the world record for cobia in the 1990s was 109.7, would've been bigger but they blead it. I live in Hampton it's some of the best fishing
Nice video as always Mr Jorgensen. The Spanish mackerel are running right now, I figured maybe 2 weeks from now If you don't have any other plans maybe you could come to Alabama and I figured we could have a spanish mackerel fishing competition on the pier, and also have fun trying to catch, king mackerel, tarpon, bluefish, jack crevail, and redfish.the maximum amount of spanish mackerel is 15 per person and whoever catches the biggest one in a 4-8 hour period would be the winner and if you wanted to we could use the fish that we didn't want as bait to go surf fishing for sharks not far from the pier, that place is swarming with blacktips and reef sharks there's at least 5 around it all the time.I'm one of your biggest fans and you're the one that inspired me to become a saltwater fisherman, I've been watching your videos for about 3 years now and I just turned 17. I love to go shark fishing and spanish mackerel fishing. It would make an Awesome youtube video. think about it, you a UA-cam fishing legend vs a normal teenage Alabama fisherman fishing on the gulf state park pier.please Mr Jorgensen, it would be a great honor, and a dream come true.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Good luck next week I was just fishing with Austin today because his boat needed maintenance so he just hopped on my boat for the day but we saw a lot on the first island caught only one 47 though.
Nice! Got a few vids up on my page from the same day in VA catching cobia from a pier. Got a 42" but nothing like that monster! Va is the place to be for these things right now!!
I don’t know what I had but Saturday I was fighting a fish that we had to chase that swam away from the wreck I believe it was a shark, aj, Cobia, wahoo, or kingfish but I was on full drag and it almost spooled me. We were around 98 feet deep and it broke me off 60 feet right out of sight
What an amazing fight these fish can put up. My buddy and I tag teamed a 70lber for almost an hour. Learn real quick not to bring them in the boat green. Had a pool party BBQ and this whole fish was finished in not time. One of the best eating fish I have ever had. Catching them can be tricky sometimes. They can be picky eaters.
Good video. You don't see many on bottom fishing for cobia. Very curious why he uses a snap swivel instead of a sinker slide. Less likely to tangle? Interesting. BTW, great tip on throwing the eels in the water right away. Those things go NUTS once you let go of them!
@@istirahayu6899 I used to do that until i kept having break offs from the glass beads cutting my line they can cut into your line very quickly its worth the extra money to get the sinker sliders
@@istirahayu6899 you just have to get snap swivels rated for alot of weight mine are rated for 250 lbs so it'll take a lot for a fish to break them and so far nothing has broke them. Not even a 120 lb southern ray

BlacktipH should’ve gaffed it.
The Cobia had to be released. This was the day before the Cobia season begins there. That's what they said in the video.
BlacktipH when you guys coming to north Carolina?

6:25 this is a legit cobia. Throws in the water and forgets about it 😂
Virginia cobia

Austin is the best Cobia guy going, legend in the making IMO. Beautiful fish, congrats!
so calm and well composed for once...well done
4:12 Great instruction for rigging. Have subscribed for new videos.
Thanks!
Great work man. Love how the that guy told everyone to stay calm. It's something that is hard to do, but it really does make a difference in landing a fish.

What a monster, congrats from australia. You should come down here and fish.
So how much would it cost for someone to go fishing with you for a day?
To much for me
