Andrea did a great impression of Linda Lavin. The voice, the look, was just perfect. What would have made it funnier (in my opinion) was if she did her signature song on the Alice Show, "Theres a new girl in town".
I heard that Lavin was extremely jealous of Flo (Polly Holliday) and wanted her written out of the script. Flo was later replaced, but it just wasn't the same and the falling ratings of the show reflected that.
Linda Lavin was never that kind of person and she certainly did not have any jealousy toward Polly Holliday or any attention she got for playing Flo. Polly was actually the one who wanted to go her own way and leave the show and not because of any problems or differences. The show Alice continued on for several seasons without the character of Flo and would not have lasted as long if Flo was the reason it was successful. Polly & Linda remain friends to this day. Whatever you heard isn't true.
@@Strode78 The show did continue on without Flo for a few more seasons, so maybe what I heard was misrepresented. I'm glad to hear that Polly and Linda are still friends, and what I heard may not be true. I'll take your word for it.
OMG @1:16 Somebody decided to go 'all-in' on Linda Lavin and commit full on character-assasination. There may be some truth to Linda having control issues but wow!
So spot-on only SCTV would be creative enough to do a Linda Lavin invitation classic
Andrea Martin is a very talented and severely underrated, under utilized talent!!
The theme from Alice sung by Lavin is pure torture
lol! i thought i was the only one
I thought is was great. One of my favorite TV show themes.
More brilliant comedy in this sketch than anything made in the last 10 years. For those who get it...
Spot on impersonation
Andrea is awesome,SCTV was the best!

@@Strode78 There was definitely a problem, Linda Lavin pushed 2 actresses out of that show.
@@thangvuong9196 No she didn't. Linda didn't own the show or push anybody out of anything.
@@Strode78 Lol Linda got rid of Diane Ladd in 6 months
The voice is uncanny.

I’m criiiiiiin
She's funny but nothing like Linda that sucked
She's nothing like Linda Lavin. This is just trying to be a funny the Canadian way.
She's great as Linda. That little "oh nooo" thing Lavin does- that was hysterical.
What an INSULT to Linda Lavin!
That was the point.
