- Welcome to part 1 of building Tiptoe a new house. Slow and steady wins the race but checked a huge list item off by getting these blueprints done :)
Tiptoe is a 22-year-old African Sulcata Tortoise. We live in Los Angeles and I got him from Santa when I was 7 years old

Can't wait to see tiptoe's house ❤❤❤❤❤🐢

Tiptoe 🐢🌺🤳🏼🤳🏼🤳🏼🤳🏼
Home Sweet Home
So exciting 🆕☀️
I LOVE TIPTOE!!! 🥰❤️❣️🐢
He is so sdorable😍😍😍😍😍 Oh that dang watermelon bowl😍😍😍
Wonderful family project ❤❤❤❤❤😊
I love tiptoe❤he's so cute
Love Tiptoe!
Good morning caitlan and tiptoe I’ve just finished doing my sulcatas shelter ❤❤❤
My suggestion would be to find a local sawmill near your area and get yourselves some rough cut lumber direct from the saw. Buying from the sawmill is much cheaper, and the wood is all natural with no chemicals. Important for good animal care! You can get both dimensional and boards for walls. Plus it supports small local business and is a great way to save!
thank you!! fantastic idea
Tippy chiling in the hot tub is classic. The man nees some strawberries.
And hibiscus flowers😍😍😍
Can't wait too see Tiptoes mansion ❤❤❤
Thanks!
omg thank you so much
I’m so happy Grandpa is making the new house. ❤ I have a suggestion for the heavy roof, get shocks or easy release levers for the door to make it easier to open and close. I’m excited to see the new digs!
Hydraulic arms you can get from your local auto parts store can help with the roof. Also if you consider the "tin" roof there are options and insulation is key for any sound problem. You can reduce the weight and sound by using fiberglass "tin" as well. (I live in a one room cabin with a tin roof. This solved our noise problem.) 😊 Bless you all and hugs to Tiptoe!🎉
As always, y'all made my day! Love you guys! 💖
Tiptoe is so loved by his Mom Caitlin and can't wait to see his new home 💕 Joan
If you still need a roof that open, I used hood or lift gate struts for a 300 pound roof! Easy to open, stays open and closes like a dream
thank you!!! hahaha this boy is getting it all
I love Tippy ❤❤❤
Cannot wait to see caitlins, your grandfather's new creation
Caitlin…Tippy! I’m very excited for Tiptoe’s new casa! Love you both!!! ❤️🐢❤️👱🏻♀️❤️
Tiptoe is looking forward to his new crib I am sure. He is truly fortunate to have so many folks who love him.
WE LOVE TIPTOE ❤️❤️
Hydraulic arms for the lid ( like on a lid for a pickup truck bed lid ) maybe smaller. It would also control the lid from slamming down too hard. I love watching Tiptoe. 😊
I say more ventilation must be added to the plan
I have slept in cars, truck beds with toppers, tents, and bivouacs.
Suffocation is a constent problem. Since Tiptoe can not express himself with words, it is critically important to MAXIMIZE the ventilation.
Well said !
!!!! This !!!! Thank you!!
@@caitlinandtiptoe thank you & your family for all the joyful videos.
the new house seems practical- Our Tortoise Hercules has a custom home as well- My hubs is a general contractor and made his house to match ours for a less of an eye soar- and yes our roof is also heavy, it's made out of the normal house material for safety, and long term use- it's nice cause the roof lifts off and on hot days we use steaks to have someone of a air roof we call it. He has a ramp so to lift the house a bit on cinderblocks to help with water corrosion and high rain and easy cleaning (we rake and wash under his house regularly as I am sure you know the potty mess they can make) - I wish there was a way to send you a pic
Looks great!!! You should take a photo of TipToe with your father and grandfather.
I am on it :)
Frame the foto and hang in Tiptoe's new dig.
Tiptoe really dug into that watermelon after it tried to get away from him. Tiptoe's the MAN!!
Love the clip of him chasing the Watermelon. It's so good to see a family so dedicated to their pet, I know he is yours Caitlin but he is obviously a very cherished part of the Family to all of you. Tiptoe is a credit to you all. Really looking forward to seeing his new palace.
You are so lucky to have your grandfather around, Caitlin! Both of mine are gone.
So lucky
While you are upgrading TipToe's home put some jets into his pool so he can enjoy the swirling water after you finish filling it. Nothing but the best for your little growing boy.
So glad to see you both back! I missed you both!
He just makes me sooo happy 😊
I ❤ you Tiptoe!! Good luck with his house. It's going to be great!
Will be so great for Tiptoe, thanks for your grandfather. 🏠 🏡 🍓🍓🐢💕💕
Tiptoe: "What's missing? Three car garage, basketball court, 18 hole golf course, movie theater... and mom said she was going to build me a mansion!"🥴

hahahhahh I am going to have to make some additions to these plans, I can't believe I forgot about these T necessities!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You are missing the Pickle Ball Court. He's too Old for Basketball nowadays.
Can’t wait to see the house for TipToe! ❤❤🎉
Thanks for the long form video Caitlin!
Look forward to seeing Tiptoes new house.😊
Just a couple of hair brained ideas.
Build the house as a miniature of your parents house. IMHO, that would be very cool.
Go with the metal roof but use sound deadener that is used in automotive sound systems which will tone down or completely eliminate the loud rain sounds and give some insulation value.
My wife and I will be watching the build progress.
omg I LOVE that idea!!!! thank you so much
The watermelon clip is great!
Have you considered a sunlight in the roof? It gives some natural light and can open for ventilation (need operating version) but might have rain noise issues of that is a major concern.
Metal stud construction could help reduce weight. Talk with your local building material supplier as well. You might want to look into Tiny Home construction as several options appear to exist.
We love Tip Toe. But it's nice to see you too.
His new castle 😎.
Might consider two things for the roof. You can make it two halves that overlap. The overlap will keep the warmth in, and the rain out. You open one half, then the other.
And you can install hydraulic lifts / struts for both halves. They would be a lot like the ones that allow me to lift the hood of my SUV with almost no effort (you might need ones a little more heavy duty).
You will want to do some kind of lift assist, because ergonomically it is at a height that doing a manual lift of the roof is risky for spine and shoulders, over time.
I love the overlap idea that would be perfect
What about vinyl planking? Thin layer of caulking between each plank to form a rainproof 🌧️board.
Just an idea. My brother does flooring. Ive heard a lot of positive reasons to use it. It's often made of recycled plastics. ♻️
🐢 Love you TipToe 🥰. Thank you Caitlin for these videos. They are a positive in a chaotic world. 🫶🏼
That big boi sure loves his strawberries and watermelon! I can’t wait to see the new Casa Tiptoe!
About the roof…have you considered using springs; the way a car hood would open? I guess my algorithms are messed up, as I haven’t seen you two in a month or so.
Maybe attaching wheels and tracks and doing it in two pieces. Look at the way a kitchen drawer opens, for an example.
I enjoy you and, “the beast,” very much. Much luck to you two in your future together ❤
Gas struts for the roof...should help with the weight.
Hi Caitlin, For the roof why not split it in half so both sides open independently for cleaning. Looking forward to construction to begin!
Put a solar panel on the roof to operate any electronics inside. (heat pad, camera, microwave, Wide screen TV etc..).
love this guy
Hi Tiptoe!!
In, I own a 2001 grand caravan. The read tailgate is very heavy. Recently I broke the gate lifts and had to have them replaced. Now understand, without the lifts the tailgate. With the replaced gate lifts I can now lift and close the hatchback with one finger. You might want to look into something like that for the roof of tiptoe’s new home.
Oooo this is great, thank you!
new house tiptoe ) happy 23 th b day
For the roof, I would suggest some type of lift assist struts.
I have a baby sulcata and live in AZ and can’t wait for him or her to get that big
They grow quick!!
Next on MTV cribs-Chillin with Tiptoe 😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Caitlin,
You might try polypropylene sheeting for the roof. It is waterproof, lighter than wood and not noisy. It is not as strong as a wood roof but my guess is you do not intent to stand on his roof so it should be plenty strong if you use a wood frame.
ooo great idea!!
Your guy's backyard looks nice and peaceful!!❤️✌️❤️✌️
HELLO, CAITLIN & TIPTOE!!!!!!!
🙂
HI RYAN
@@caitlinandtiptoe 🙂
I look forward to seeing his new house built. Building it is part of the fun, I hope you will video tape it. You should use your boyfriend's camera. Please keep the barn style doors, Caitlin.
I will video tape it all :) I am definitely going to want to remember this
Tiptooooe!!
I can't wait to see his new home! Thank you for these videos. They are so interesting..engaging and cool! Love u guys! I wish I had a tiptoe
Catlin what about something like a spa cover. It has the thick Styrofoam between the vinyl cover. Just a thought.
Love & Blessings (Nor/Cal)
we need to make sure some part of the old house survives the remodel so big man can recognize at least some of his old familiar smells?
yes!! That's a great point
(holding clipboard and pen) alright Mr. Tiptoe here are your stage one and two building permits with bag of baby carrots with green tops per request. You need anything else you give us a ring.
Split the top in 2. Not sure how to make it 100% leakproof, but there could be an overlap on one side with shingles or some sort of rubber gasket in the middle. I'm assuming this isn't something that is opened fairly often. Tiptoe may not tolerate rain on a metal roof.
Did anyone else noticed that TipToe tried to literally Bite the Hand that Feeds Him.
Two years ago, if you told me I would subscribe to a show about a pet reptile, I would say “ you’re nuts”, and yet here I am. 😊
Get all the luxury fixins u2❤❤! And some shell rubs on the side!!❤
He wants s sprinkler on his pool. HE loves to dance in the rain.
Use rubber for the roofing lasts for years ❤❤
🐢💚
Can you link the heating pad and the thermometer with the temperature alarm to the phone? Thanks for your videos.
I am not a builder but I think you should use lightweight insulation but you probably aren't using it. love to T. Blessings!
Install shocks to open and close the roof easily
You said that tiptoes roofs heavy you know there's jacks or I don't know what they're called that lift your hood of your car up you can use those for tiptoes roof so it can slant and it wouldn't be so heavy. On the colder days like you said the winner is there a place for him to eat and go to the bathroom cuz you said he stays in there long😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤
THANK YOU
You are cute and so is tiptoe ❤
🐢 🏠 💰
If available, hardwood is a good idea. Drilling for nails and bolts. Over hang the roof to protect the timber. Interlocking hard wood flooring.
My suggestions sound expensive but will last a long time.
Another expense would be to seek the help of a Traidsman.
Ask around for a good one. Good luck. 🙏🐢❤️
So nice to see the 2 of you again! Whats tiptoe's weight now? Last i remember he wasi think it was 75#, or was it 150#. See it was some time ago. Im so glad your such a good mom to him.
I was wondering if you have considered having a ramp at the double doors?
He may need one with the bigger house
I think you should stick with wood on TipToe’s Casa roof but you need to cut it in half so it’s not so heavy! ❤
use small hydronic lifts on he roof. Like they use to hold up the hood of your car.
Which camera are you looking at?
Use wood screws instead of nails for new house
💜🐢💜🐢💜
Caitlan please can I ask you 1 question do you keep tiptoes heat on through the night because I’m a little unsure ❤
Tiptoe will have a better home that too many humans in the LA area who sleep in tents, beat up RV's,.
have a wonderful month of october
What color are you considering painting his house?
So many to choose from, he's had natural wood, yellow, pink and blue!
🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢
What about composite material for the roof? It’s a little lighter and much more durable.
Is it possible to do a skylight? One that could be propped open to allow more ventilation and light on rainy days but keep him dry? It may be lighter too.
hi
hi!!
Just finding out about tiptoe's spycam and hoping there's a live channel plan
In what state do you live? Wondering what winter weather is like there. I have three Sulcatas that I need to build housing for before next winter (2025).
On the roof instead of one lift of the roof make it two part so it's lighter. ❤😊
Add a ramp at his exit because it looks like his shell catches on it right now. He could injure himself just because of his weight.
oh another tip- habitat for humanity for some left over home building material for less- We were able to get roofing material for super inexpensive.
Tiptoe has a dad?
Step dad!!
