I hate how they completely screwed RVD's title run in 06. For one it was at least a year or two over due, Van Damn was the most popular member of the alliance(a heel faction) and one of the most over guys on raw after the brand split. Yet after he beats Cena at this show they try to make him a heel!? At this point the audience had had enough of Cena after only about 2 years in the main event. I know RVD kinda screwed the pooch with his drug problem during the time, but this was an early sign of the WWE ignoring their audience and going with who they want to shove down you're throats.
jabroni_z I totally agree with you. That's why I hate the wwe because of stupid shit like this. And they don't seem to learn their lessons because they keep doing the same dumb shit over and over again.
they've had guys before and since that they didn't stop pushing him because he failed a drug test or had a dui. Randy Orton failed a drug test the next year i think before SummerSlam, he didn't get suspended but RVD gets his push stopped over smoking a joint with Sabu.
Rvd was supposed to carry ecw. Shane told rvd if ecw flops it's your ass. And rvd agreed. What happened months later? He's caught smoking weed and they never forgave him for it, I think it was an excuse though because whenever guys like orton would do something, they never gave up on him or anyone else.
People were fed up with what was going on in the industry people don’t realize alot of things were changing around this time. It’s not cena’s fault it’s just that Vince wanted to go back to what used to work like with hogan put all the money into a merchandise seller and have him be the face of the company. I think the gripes around this time were not with Cena the person but rather how he was being presented as the face of the company. I think Vince going back to that model pissed alot of people off. Alot of People just weren’t ready for cena or for a change.
Keeping up with this ECW kick I have a few suggestions. The Rise & Fall of ECW Forever Hardcore which was the indy version of Rise & Fall Hardcore Homecoming which was the indy version of One Night Stand
The whole purpose of the two One Night Stand PPVS was to build people’s hopes up to then ultimately crush them after the catastrophe that was ECW December to Dismember later on that year back in 2006..
I forgot they put Eugene before the main event, you have people the edge of their seat, and they go hold on now! You think we forgot about Sandman didn't ya!? I think it fit perfectly, but I also agree they could have done it earlier.
Ironically enough, the only other person to cash their money in the bank contract ahead of time was Cena when he cashed in the contract against CM Punk back in 2012 despite the fact that obviously Cena didn’t win because of the Big Show interfering.
To me WWE vs ECW in 2005 and 2006 was a better Invasion angle than the 2001 version. In both shows WWE was invading the ECW and you can tell how the WWE wrestlers were hated in those shows and some of the heels like Jerry Lawler Orton and Edge were great! Even Cena works in this show.
dflowers30 John Cena was and kinda still is the wwe's Golden boy so their is no way they were going to turn him heel then and now. It's never going to happen period.
Billy Clements It should have been anybody in Cena's spot lol.I'm sorry but R-Truth sucks. I could see Lashley being a world champion in the wwe but R- Truth please, I don't think so. I mean seriously could you see him in matches with people like Lesnar, Taker, Triple H, or anyone else like that ? I sure as hell don't and I wouldn't want to see those matches because Truth would get killed by them period.
I've always said that John Cena should've embraced being a heel for this match, going as far as to come out to a different theme song from his album. A more aggressive sounding one like "Chain Gang Is The Click" for example.
I think after this, if WWE was smart and not so god damn stubborn, they SHOULD have turned him heel. I believe had he done a heel run for about a year or two, and then turned back face, the crowd would’ve accepted him. But the WWE chose not to, because they were idiots.
The crowd was legendary on this PPV specially on Cena lol...
The heel heat john cena had in this match was legendary.

RVD screwed RVD.....

That 6 person intergender tag match is so fun to watch. Funk and Foley just went through hell and Edge was such a great heel and star.
the promo that Edge, Foley and Lita cut before the match is pretty underrated.
Post raw after wrestlemania 14. 3.30.1998. And raw 4.13.1998. The night raw broke their losing streak in the ratings
Stings transformation into the quiet crow run, heading towards Starrcade and Hollywood Hulk Hogan would be sweet!

This ECW crowd despised Cena and booed the shit out of him, I loved it.
No Mercy 1999, Jeff Jarrett's farwell from WWE
1000th episode of RAW
i wish more wrestlers cashed in like RVD did rather than do the cowardly heel cash in.
Keeping up with this ECW kick I have a few suggestions.
The Rise & Fall of ECW
Forever Hardcore which was the indy version of Rise & Fall
Hardcore Homecoming which was the indy version of One Night Stand
Or how about the Raw after Wrestlemania 14 in 1998

The whole purpose of the two One Night Stand PPVS was to build people’s hopes up to then ultimately crush them after the catastrophe that was ECW December to Dismember later on that year back in 2006..
CM Punk: Best in the World DVD

Billy Clements Look all lives matter not just black ok period End of story.
