Always disturbed at how Cell consumed the androids
I watched the subbed version and realized something.
Androids 17 and 18 were bad guys, but they mostly stole and damaged things. They deserved the slammer, but did not deserve to die. One part of Krillin hesitating to kill 18 was probably because 17 and 18 never killed anyone.
In fact, they said to Krillin something like "you have Senzu beans, right? Go and heal your buddies". The only people they physically harmed were martial artists, and they were okay with the martial artists getting healed. They might have hurt some cops, but there's no signs of major injury or death. In fact, Vegeta picked a fight with THEM, not the other way around! In the Vegeta vs 18 battle, if someone died, it was because of Vegeta!
That makes the consuming of the androids even worse. I have the feeling that they might not have killed Son Goku if they found him with the heart problem. They at least might have waited until he's healed, and might have been satisfied with just a fight, but not his death.
@@JoeStuffzAltKrillin told them Goku was sick and they didn't care, while they were nothing compared to their alternate future counterparts they still would've destroyed him because it was their programmed objective. As for what they would've done afterwards, probably would've left the Earth alone for the most part.

That beating Videl took didn't even need to be gory to be one of the most brutal scenes in the series.
At least later on, Videl got justice when Babidi brutally killed Spopovich.
In the manga, videl lost teeth during the beatdown

Well unfortunately it just has to do with censorings on television. In the Manga After Frieza cuts himself in half you see his organs and blood falling out of him, Gero tears off someone's head, Videl loses teeth after being knee'd in the face by Spopovich.
Everything is way more brutal in the manga, but they have to tone it down for main stream viewing. There are certain laws in place for what can and cannot be shown on television, granted those all change depending on how soft that generation is. Unfortunately show producers are slaves to the masses.
The only time certain shows that were gory could be watched were on PAID channels same with porn and sexual pleasure infomercials. All that stuff was behind paid channels that normal viewers couldnt see. The internet and more importantly Streaming are the only reasons such products are widely available, as no one read or purchased magazines anymore and Cable TV was basically beaten out by streaming platforms.

Not so much 17, but more I think with android 18. Because it almost seemed like Cell was "violating" her. Majin Buu had very similar graphic scenes.

I was definitely pretty surprised when I saw the scene of Cell drinking people when I was a child. Practically felt like the anime switched from an action anime into a horror because of how they introduced Cell.
For me, it was him drinking the old man AND stabbing that couple in the fun house.

The manga had more instances of brutality.
In the scene where Dr. Gero grabs the man by his throat and lifts him out of his car, we see Gero crush his throat, severing his head from his body. In the anime, it was off-screen.
And when the Z-Fighters are following Spopovich and Yamu to their base, they see a family killed; a man, a boy, and a woman. The woman was cut in half with some of her innards spilling out while the man was missing an arm and blood coming from his body. In the anime, she's just as whole as her family and the man isn't missing an arm, nor is there blood. It seems like they were all killed by a ki blast.
And in Spopovich's infamous beating of Videl, he even breaks her teeth. Of course, in the anime, she's badly bruised, but her teeth remain intact.
And there's the fact that the Cell Juniors' bodys explode; body parts and eyes flying when Gohan hits them, as opposed to them just turning into smoke shortly after getting hit.
In the anime Frieza gets cut in half and bleeds but in the manga his entrails are hanging from where he was sliced

Even the somewhat innocent world tournament attendant suffered a terrible fate. I say somewhat because he contacted Babidi and gave him the names of the people he was looking for, but Babidi found the information to be insufficient and made the attendant’s head swell up and eventually explode

The most brutal part about Dragon Ball Z in my opinion, is frieza in his second form stabbing krillin with one of his horns and start playing with him
