  • The London Mozart Players perform Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K550 at St John’s Smith Square, London, on 14th June 2018.
    As many commentators have noted, this work is without peer in its clarity and balance. It is emotionally charged but never stormy. The relentless rhythm propels, but does not force, the flow. Daring harmonies make an appearance, but, within its classical framework, Mozart gently leads the way to the overt musical emotional expressions to come in the next century.

    Mozart is surely the greatest classical composer of all time. Although he had a short life of only 35 years, he produced over 800 works of music, he was a complete genius, and his legacy will live on forever.

    For an interesting aside, the Dutch band The Gathering recorded a tribute song tomMozart called Travel. It too is very emotional. This piece is highlighted in the lyric, :Leaning over your fortieth masterpiece, you must have ;loved the colour of the violins...You fit of insanity makes me sad...I wish you knew your music would stay forever..." Their song can be called Symphonic Metal. But The Gathering were unique in their own right. And their vocalist, Anneke van Giersbergen, is amazing. The best live version is their 2007 live concert. Give it a listen.

    The camera must have a microphone because when I see oboes I hear oboes and when I see flutes I hear flutes Ok same with the violas I’m starting to think editing had something to with this...now I think it is my brain isolating the track due to optical input

      The film crew look at the music beforehand - so they know when they should focus on what instruments.

    I bet Mozart could hear the whole symphony and all instruments in his head at once; it was just a mundane business of writing down the score, so we could hear it as well.

    • @LondonMozartPlayers
      @LondonMozartPlayers  3 роки тому +4

      We allow UA-cam to put adverts on our videos so we can pay our players and keep posting performances for free! We're trying to make sure they don't disrupt your viewing experience too much, but it's a work in progress. Sorry for the interruption, but we hope you enjoyed the rest of it!

    Ths is not a pop song, if you must put adverts in at least hzve the grace to place them between movements. I certainly will not subscribe or by any products from advertisers.

    • @LondonMozartPlayers
      @LondonMozartPlayers  2 роки тому +1

      Very true, not a pop song! The advertising helps to fund the Orchestra and means we can keep doing things like this (and we're working on getting them to appear at more suitable points as well).
